Have you noticed the more time passes on these negotiations, the more spending gets added to the deal? It´s like an addiction, the taxes will never go to the debt. The faster we let it fall apart, the faster we can put humpty dumpty back together again. Allowing this to drag out 4 more years will be sheer agony as it is.

I already feel like vomiting every time I hear the term fiscal cliff. I feel like we fell into the twilight zone, and I want out.

Replier #6 is spot on about the Teflon One: failure and shortcomings never stick to him. Actually impossible to think of a NYT or NBC story that would point out how his policies have yet to promote economic growth, reduce unemployment, control costs or improve our lives. Only media criticism is that he wasn´t radical enough in his demands.

That said, everything he has done has failed. GOP has to be reminded of this despite the heat brought on them.

Suggest all y´all do likewise. It´s Obama´s to own and to hell with how the media will paint us. They will do it no matter what we do, so let the Democrats take us over the cliff without OUR fingerprints on it.

Sadly I don´t think there is any way to win the argument with the public. The yellow press has the propaganda package tied up and the populace is lacking in the brain power of logic. Everyone and every side is sick of the endless "fiscal cliff" discussion, just do something and soon.

While all comments are generally spot-on, #6 is probably most correct. Since he (I can´t type his name) has never owned anyting in his life, why start now, Furthermore, he is being aided and abetted, even if only indirectly, by the press who has now invented, created, and is skillfully marketing the lastest cliche: "fiscal cliff." Think "gravitas.". And as another poster rightly pointed out, the electorate is now too stupid and unable to form a coherent argument against anything Washington says or does.

If Boehner would listen to Newt, he would have the proper things to say. There is no fiscal cliff. There are steps to take.

When I saw Geithner yesterday, I was depressed. Nothing he says is truthful or sensible. And Boehner cannot communicate in common sense language.

Bluezy´s Law of Inverse Veracity suggests that if the MSM is calling it a ´Fiscal Cliff´ (bad thing), then it is, in fact, a good thing.

The coward in the White House sent his flunkie ,tax cheat Geithner to show their plan which was laughable, it will fail .Obama in his first term did not spend enough so he wants to spend much more. In the meantime the National Debt is approaching 16.5 Trillion dollars( $16,335,666,xxx,xxx). Speaker Boehner should NOT consider the Democratic plan because it´s foolish laughable bent on turning this country into a Socialist big government dictatorial boondoggle.Rep Boehner get your troops together and issue the riot act,no cave in .

There were many voices urging a government shutdown over the debt limit fiasco last year. Those who "knew better" have painted themselves into this corner. Now there are no "good" options.

The "least bad", as Hennessey suggests, is for the House to pass a simple extension of the Bush tax rates for those under $250K - give NerØbama what he originally asked for - and go home for Christmas. Make it abundantly clear that the debt limit will not be raised in February, and - blamed or not - they are prepared to shut down the government this time - really.

However, I doubt that Boehner and his "go-along" friends have it in them to do it.

This was assured when obozo fired the Chair of GM, stiffed the bondholders and gave everything to the unions and the stupid republicans did NOTHING.

Now we need to go over the cliff. Better now than in a year when it is twice as high. If the republicans had any cahones, they would say, "Fine, raise the taxes on over $1 million AND implement these specific cuts." Pass that, send it to the dysfunctional senate and then go home. Let obozo and the democrats explain why they crashed the country.
