NBC´s Bob Costas Blames
NFL Murder-Suicide On Guns

NewsBusters, by Noel Sheppard

Original Article

Posted By:LittleHoodedMonk, 12/2/2012 11:51:35 PM

NewsBusters reported Saturday the tragic murder-suicide involving a Kansas City Chiefs´ football player and his girlfriend. During halftime of NBC´s Sunday Night Football, Bob Costas chose to lecture America about how guns were to blame for the incident: Bob Costas: Well, you knew it was coming. In the aftermath of the nearly unfathomable events in Kansas City, [unintelligible] sports clichés was heard yet again: something like this really puts it all in perspective. Well, if so, that sort of perspective has a very short shelf-life since we will inevitably hear about the perspective we have

Comments:
Wow, now you get political editorial commentary during halftime? [I don´t watch TV anymore, just the free stuff I snag off Internet.]

You know how you "know" Costas is a talking-pointed head pimp? He´s got this all wrong. Jovan Belcher was a "black, angry young man" who murdered his defenseless girlfriend. [If he didn´t have a gun, could have snapped her neck just as easily like a chicken]. In the liberals mind, gun owners are "angry, white old men."

This was most fortuitous. I was just in the process of composing a letter to the network. I turned off the football game when Clueless Bob made this announcement and will not watch any broadcast where he is the announcer again. He is so wrong on this that I cannot even begin to state my objections. The network has no business letting him make this type of editorial comment. This had nothing to do with guns. It could have easily been a comment on concussions, but he made it his personal choice to make his comments about guns, which really had nothing to do with this.
Shame on the network for broadcasting this.

Bob thinks that in the UK and all those other places whrere there are no gums, nobody ever gets killed.

As the OP pointed out Jovon didn´t need a weapon of any kind. But a club (ball bat, broom handel, VCR etc) would have worked as well as say a ... knife.

This guy would have killed her no matter what. He could have used a knife or his hands even. The gun did not kill anyone. The man did.

Oh, but of course its the guns that do the killing. Yes, those inanimate pieces of metal and plastic. Without them there would be no murder... Boy that sure makes me feel better about myself.

Must have been the availability of handguns that caused the use of the machetes.

I can´t stand listening to any of the commentators. I enjoy a close game and usually have the sound muted or so low I only hear the yell when something exciting happens on the field. Halftime is always muted.

I wonder when the last time Costas or someone he knows, was attacked by an inanimate object? It takes a human being to manipulate the trigger. But, logic and facts never matter to a liberal.

It´s football itself that needs to be banned, you know, all those head concussions turning football players into homicidal maniacs.

"Blaming the gun for murder is like blaming the computer for libel"

Presumably any laws Costas would have us enact against guns would work better than the laws we have against murder.

Having no real interest in either team, I was pleased that the game was competitive at the half, and planned to continue viewing. But, when the Costas´ social-political commentary was inflicted on me, I turned the game off. As to NBC, the only programming I ever viewed was sports, and now that they have injected their liberal agenda commentary into what should be simply entertainment, I will avoid that network completely.

Only the monumentally ignorant or the irretrievably biased believe that kind of hoplophobic propaganda. All the real-world data refute the core assumption. We all know that.

The fact is a gun is just about the only thing that could have saved that young mother´s life.

Oh, and Bobbie? When you call 9-1-1, if you don´t demand that the cops arrive gunless, you´re a hypocrite and liar. As well as a jerk.

I see Cops carrying firearms every day.

Somehow, 99.99999% of them make it through the day without committing a murder/suicide.

Oddly, the exact same percentages apply to ordinary American firearms owners.

How can we communicate these obvious truths to intellectual midgets like Bob Costas?

Costas´ reputation as a dumkopf is growing by the day. Just to pick some numbers, there are somewhere around 100 million handgun owners in the USA. Only a handful, including Belcher woke up that fateful morning and killed somebody. So Costas, displaying his level of intellect, concludes we should penalize all hundred million. Idiot.

Bob Costas is one of those tiny little noxious men in more ways than intellectually. Not only does he have a little big men complex, he thinks his words drop like pearls and that he has the right to pontificate during football game looking into the camera with that fixed stare he apparently thinks adds to his credibility. Not only did he pontificate, he made a fool out of himself being wrong at the same time making his absolute claim that without a gun there´d never have been a murder-suicide. Ergo, we all need to give up guns.

NBC of course will do nothing except give the dwarf like Costas a raise and a booster chair so he looks taller. In a real world, he´d have been fired before the game was over.

"Luckily, we´ve got options," Elliott Bronstein of the Office for Civil Rights wrote in the memo obtained by the station. "For ´citizens,´ how about ´residents?´"

You don´t have to be gay or even Russian to feel the wrath of the Russian government´s homophobia. You could go to jail if you are "pro-gay," whatever that means. And that´s under just one of a growing number of hate-infused bills becoming law at a time when, as it happens, Russia is preparing to host the world in the next Winter Olympics. The perverse anti-gay legislation is inflaming an atmosphere of persistent intimidation and at times deadly violence against Russian gays and lesbians. The question now is: What should the rest of the world do?

Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-NY) suggested on Friday morning that the tea party movement is comprised of the same types of people who fought against the civil rights movement during the 1960s. Speaking with the Daily Beast, Rangel said of the movement: “It is the same group we faced in the South with those white crackers and the dogs and the police. They didn’t care about how they looked. He added that the tea party movement can be defeated similar to how the civil rights movement eradicated Jim Crow mentality: “It was just fierce indifference to human life that caused

The nation´s most active death penalty state is running out of its execution drug. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice said Thursday that its remaining supply of phenobarbital expires in September and that no alternatives have been found. It wasn´t immediately clear whether two executions scheduled for next month would be delayed. The state has already executed 11 death-row inmates this year, and at least seven more have execution dates in coming months. "We will be unable to use our current supply of phenobarbital after it expires," agency spokesman Jason Clark said. "We are exploring all options at this time."

I think she’s one of the most fascinating women of our time and this world,” confessed Bob Greenblatt, the chairman of NBC, as part of his announcement that his network is making a miniseries about former secretary of state Hillary Clinton, with Diane Lane in the starring role. Words are funny things. For instance, G.K. Chesterton once remarked that that the word “good” has many uses: “For example, if a man were to shoot his grandmother at a range of 500 yards, I should call him a good shot but not necessarily a good man.” So it is,

A dart game that used President Obama´s face for target practice at a county fair in New York state is being dismantled today. Fairgoer Abigail Czapsky submitted photos of the booth at Otsego County Fair to HuffPost yesterday, which show President Obama´s face lined up alongside yellow stars in a dart game. According to Czapsky´s Facebook page, following yesterday´s HuffPost story the booth has now taken down the offensive targets. Czapsky says the Otsego County Fair Board called her to apologize about the booth and explain that it was being taken down. Not one individual on the fair board

After purchasing the Boston Globe in 1993 for a then-record $1.1 billion, the financially troubled New York Times just announced it sold the 141 year-old paper to Boston Red Sox owner John Henry for a mere $70 million. That´s a straight 93% loss. Figuring in two decades of inflation would only make it worse -- as does the fact the Times retains the Globe´s pension liabilities, estimated at over $100 million. (snip) What might have sweetened the lower offer for the Times is that Henry offered a straight cash deal, which is expected to close sometime in September or October.
