‘Fiscal cliff’ talks at a
stalemate over tax hikes

Washington Post, by Zachary A. Goldfarb

Original Article

Posted By:Dreadnought, 12/2/2012 10:30:47 PM

As the White House and Republican leaders enter the final month of negotiations to avoid a year-end “fiscal cliff,” both sides struck an uncompromising tone Sunday, as warnings mounted that they will be unable to forge an agreement to stop an automatic series of deep spending cuts and large tax hikes that could push the economy into recession. Following private meetings last week, the senior negotiators for the White House and the Republicans took to the airwaves Sunday to accuse the other side of intransigence and to demand that the opposition concede on the central question

It´s at a stalemate because Obama wants to run the country into bankruptcy and then declare supreme powers like the joker in Egypt.

If you have a 401K program, you´d better bury it in your backyard because it´s a big chunk of money the left has it´s eyeballs on. Of course they´ll cherry pick the victims of the seizures and you can bet gov´t workers are off limits.
There isn´t enough money through conventional means for Obama to finish his redistribution plans.

Everything the liberals do is a set up for the next step. They haven´t recklessly blown $6 trillion extra in the last 4 years for nothing, here´s a reason for it.

Hang tough Boehner...remind the press...We the People didn´t give Obama control of the Congress ...and for a reason...so Obama wouldn´t have control of America´s Checkbook...Obama didn´t Win Everything this time because of his fiscal irresponsibility...and his wild-eyed spending

Has anyone heard anything about the Bush middle and lower tax rates being made permanent? So why does anyone believe the middle class rate cuts won´t go away the following year? He is going to continue to make the tax rate more progressive every chance he has. He is refusing to consider the Sequester of 50 to 100 billion as previously agreed. So now he needs 42 billion from the rich. I´d rather let all the gimmicks expire and give him 427 billion that is pending and force him to cut 427 billion in expenditures. I certainly don´t want new taxes being dreamed up.

And the gullible will buy it because we don´t have one single brave man on the R side that is willing to fight and do something. They´ll just cower under their desks as usual then send the crybaby out to ramble on a news programs.

Does anyone know what was built underground right outside the Oval Office? It took years and millions and any truck delivering supplies had to be blank on the siding - no name of the company or the items being delivered.

The foolish lemmings who were too lazy to do their homework but instead opted for Dr. Feelgood are now hellbent to take the rest of us over the cliff with them. Virginia, where I live, used to be sane, but unfortunately, refugees from the neighboring people´s republic of Maryland moved here because they could no longer stand what liberalism had imposed on them there. But, now they vote to ruin Virginia by making it like Maryland. Where will they move to next? They don´t do the math or the science and are confused by statistics -- but they have college "degrees." Obama is what he is´ but, the electorate proved themselves jackasses by not recognizing the obvious. Now we shall all suffer for their idiocy. Any ´blame´ is staring back at them in the mirror!

I think the government (all of it) is lying about the "fiscal cliff". Just like they used the financial crisis of 08/09 to grab unprecedented power over the private sector, I think the phrase "never let a crisis go to waste" applies now.
It is mathematically impossible to significantly narrow the deficit using tax increases. There MUST be cuts in spending. And our "leaders" simply don´t have the guts to do any of it. "Sequestration" (big automatic cuts) may be the only way to accomplish it. The Fiscal Cliff brings 9% across-the-board cuts and income tax increases to every American.
So be it. I´m a "Cliff Diver".

The first thing that we could do is get rid of John Boehner. This man is a total loser. The next thing we can do is start selling tax cuts like the democrats do....hit below the belt and everyone is singing the same talking points. You have to play dirty like the democrats.

By the way, you also have to lower our conversations to the 5th grade level.

"Fiscal Cliff" = crisis = Zippy campaign opportunity = publicity.
The Empty Chair needs more money for his new programs. His new programs will grow government and increase his power. By 2016 he will have sole control of the legislative and judicial branches, so there will not need to be an election.
Expect to see more crises as the flood of new regulations comes out.

By allowing US to fall over "the fiscal cliff" he can have his way and blame it all on the Repubs - and the world will love him for it.

He’s a smart, young former Army Ranger — good qualities for any aspiring politician. But what party leaders really like is that Strouse doesn’t have particularly strong views on the country’s hottest issues. Immigration? Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. Carbon emissions in the US were at their lowest level in 2012 since 1994, according to figures released by the US Energy Information Administration. We did it without carbon trading scams, the EPA making carbon dioxide a poison, or obeying the dictates of the Kyoto climate Treaty. We did it partly because of decreased economic activity as a result of the Obama recovery-that-isn’t, but mostly because of good old fashioned market forces; competition between natural gas and coal: Energy-related carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in 2012 were the lowest in the United States since 1994

It is amazing just how wrong economists were in their predictions for the number of jobs that were to be created in March. The “consensus” figure was 200,000 — a far cry from the actual number created which was 88,000. Totally “unexpected,” as usual. In one way, you can’t blame them. After a better than average gain in February of 236,000 (revised upward this month to 268,000), along with some positive numbers in housing and consumer spending, there were no doubt many analysts who began breathing a sigh of relief and believing that the long-awaited jobs recovery was upon us.

They have ignored murders, rapes, wars, nuclear proliferation, and everything wrong with the world to focus in on their little area -- the horror of carbon emissions. President Obama will propose a budget next week that embraces a risky strategy of courting Republicans for a grand bargain on the debt while angering Democratic allies with cuts to the nation’s entitlement programs. White House officials said Friday that Obama’s budget would cut Medicare and Social Security and ask for less tax revenue than he has previously sought. The budget, to be released Wednesday, will fully incorporate the offer Obama made to House Speaker John A.
