At the last minute a great compromise will come forth to save the day. Boehner will proclaim victory for the American people. When the details are looked at we´ll get 2 trillion in new taxes and more spending. John and Obama will hit the links.

The House needs to pass a permanent extension of the Bush tax cuts then punt it to the Senate. The Senate will pass whatever Reid decides to pass and then it will go to a House/Senate Conference Committee.

This legislative process has worked pretty much the same way for 200 years. Stop trying to work out a deal with Obambi first. It isn´t going to happen.

Someone inform Boehner that all tax bills must originate in the House, he seems to be forgetful. And then he can officially inform the President that the House will not increase the taxes of anyone. They will not play the class warfare game which is the only game Obama knows. Further, He should inform the President that rather than the Obama family spending $4 million of tax money on their personal vacation, that he, Obama, should stick around Washington long enough to draw up a budget plan which will reduce govt spending. And then John can relax, forget the TV interviews and wait for the WH plan.

I seem to remember Boehner using the term `cr*p sandwich` a couple years ago regarding another piece of legislation Obama wanted to ram down our throats. Boehner caved then and he has never given us any reason to think he won`t cave now. Boehner is one of those guys who only knows the `process` and thinks he has to make a deal at all costs.

Past experience tells us the GOP is afraid of their own shadow. Many in the private sector have come up with plausible ideas the past couple of weeks on how to solve this crises and we have heard none of these suggestions by anyone in the GOP. They are not listening....

Now that the Republicans have laughed at Obama´s fiscal-cliff proposal and declared it dead on arrival, there´s nothing for John Boehner and Mitch McConnell to do except wait until Obama submits a new non-laughable proposal.

In the meantime, why don´t they allow their fellow Republican Congressmen who do not have leadership jobs to go home for the holidays, with the understanding that they will be called back if Obama decides to get serious and an acceptable bi-partisan agreement can be reached?

If Obama is serious, he will at least enter the field of battle -- the negotiating table -- and begin serious deliberations. If not, he will continue to travel around the country until he leaves for his Hawaiian vacation in two weeks.

If Obama wants to continue to make a mockery of the looming fiscal-cliff crisis, the Republicans should stand back and let him.

Dear Speaker Boehner: Please announce that, since Obama refuses to budge, co-operate or make the slightest effort reasonably and affordably to solve the problem, you will begin cost-saving measures unilaterally. Begin by completely de-funding the White House Travel office; but wait until Hussein´s in Hawaii, so he can´t come back. Then the Education Department, EPA, UN, World Bank and ValJar´s Secret Service detail.

We need to see these so-called negotiations live! We want to see how sausage is made. Boehner this morning sounded like the wimpiest pathetic soul EVER! He didn´t say anything about what he´s negotiating for or against! That´s not good enough any more! It´s the same dance that´s been around for years. He needs to realize that we are up against THE evil thug of the history. They defrauded the election TWICE and they keep on stepping on. The Dems have crazy people on their side of the aisle like Nanny and Harry and we just let them run the insane asylum. Too bad we can´t get Newt back!!!!

He really does think he is a dictator now. Nothing he does is how a President operates. He just thinks he can make a declaration and it will be done! The frightening thing is all his little followers don´t see it because they don´t know anything about presidential powers, what Congress´ job is, or anything about process.

Is there any thinking adult (except for Boehner) who is surprised that 0bama doesn´t compromise? It´s what 0bama´s supporters like about him and I wish we had some of that backbone on the good guy´s side.

What Johnnie the B has just proven is that he has no clue who Obama is or what his agenda is. They still think he is a nice family man with whom they have some minor disagreements. This is the problem and why the republicans will never win. They don´t know their enemy or that they are in a war for the survival of the nation.

Someone needs to have CBO score the expiration of all tax deals including Stimulus remnants and Payroll Tax holiday. The numbers on this site last week were 427 billion 2013 revenue, only 42 billion from the rich. Give him that revenue and demand an equal amount in cuts from next year´s spending. Keep in mind the pittance from Sequester is for 10 years of cuts.

He doesn´t really care about the deficit, he wants higher taxes and redistribution. Give him revenue and demand cuts. Even if the GOP grew a spine, it would only save us for a year. I´d rather the Clinton rates than new hidden taxes or tapping my 401s and IRAs.

Pass a permanent extension of the current tax rates, send it to the Senate, and go home for Christmas.

Let all Democratic legislation bills (no procedural or confirmations) be voted on.

I agree with those who say Boehner should just wait now. If we go off of the cliff - so be it. And if we go off of the cliff, instead of restoring the Bush tax cuts for the middle class - Boehner should then insist on real tax reform.
