New Yorkers hit hard by Hurricane Sandy
denied aid by FEMA bureaucracy

New York Daily News, by Greg B. Smith

Washed out by Hurricane Sandy, a growing number of New Yorkers are finding themselves facing a second challenge — the FEMA shuffle.More than 230,000 New York storm victims have applied for housing help from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and the feds have approved $664 million. But untold numbers haven’t been so lucky, rejected by FEMA for a host of reasons that range from the ridiculous to the confounding.Jennifer O’Connor and her fiance, Brendan O’Connor, experienced the FEMA shuffle in a mind-boggling series of rejection letters, followed a month later by a $2,486 check.

Interesting. Not one word of criticism against President Zero. Next I expect President George W. Bush to be attacked by the residents and the media.
Perhaps if President Zero had stayed around, instead of campaigning and fundraising, things would have been better. perhaps if little andrew cuomo, the pitifully ineffective governor of NY had gotten involved beyond demanding gazillions of dollars from the federal government, things would go better.
Finally, I find it interesting that the article does not deal with fraudulent claims, which pour in duing an emergency. That is one of the reasons FEMA moves slowly.
(Remember Katrina, with the cash cards given out to residents? Those cards were used for tattoos, massages, hookers, night club visits....)

Obama´s anwswer will be a massive bailout for the entire city and a proposal to make it the first "green" city in the country, thereby killing two birds with one stone; fealty from the desperate victims of Sandy, and a model ´green" city to tout as yet another boondoggle.

He will find some way to turn this into his own personal piggy bank with plenty left over for his union buddies.

Stay tuned....

After Katrina, those serving in Iraq were denied because they were not living in their house during the storm and were renting it until they returned. Other fraudulent claims were approved. Government will never have common sense.

I must remind everyone that these people are dealing with the incompetent agency "FEMA". Second, these very same people should also take some of the blame. Who in their right mind living so close to the water would NOT have flood insurance. Some people did not have regular homeowners insurance because their homes were paid. THIS IS JUST STUPID AND DOWN RIGHT DISTURBING.

Unfortunately for political purposes when Obama showed up for his photo op. before the election, he gave a lot of unknowing people who suffered storm damage to their property the impression that he ordered FEMA to put aside all their requirements for assistance, also known as "red tape", and simply dole out money to them based upon mere claims of damage. Obama got his photo op. and with the help of the liberal media got re-elected, and all most of those people who suffered storm damage got is the feeling of being suckered by Obama even though they won´t admit that.

Barry was in NYC for a photo op. He could care less about the middle class. Had that area been loaded with grifters, all kinds of cash would have been handed out. He keeps campaigning all over the country saying he wants to help the middle class but all he really intends to do is the make the middle class into the grifter class.

WASHINGTON — The online insurance marketplace in Oregon is such a technological mess that residents have been signing up for health coverage by hand. In Texas, political opposition to President Obama’s health law is so strong that some residents believe, erroneously, that the program is banned in their state. But in Connecticut, a smoothly functioning website, run by competent managers, has successfully enrolled so many patients that officials are offering to sell their expertise to states like Maryland, which is struggling to sign people up for coverage. A RAND study pours buckets of cold water on the Obama administration’s claims that it has nearly reached 7 million sign-ups for Obamacare. The whole point of Obamacare, supposedly, was to insure the uninsured and bend the cost curve down. Those who had insurance were supposed to be able to keep it. Families were supposed to start saving about $2500 a year. If you believed the Obama administration. Reality, according to RAND‘s study, is that the Obama administration’s 7 million figure is deceptive.
