If voters insist on having very expensive entitlement programs, then they should be willing to pay for them through much higher taxes. Borrowing trillions from the Chinese is no longer an option, as they are unwilling to fund our social welfare programs.

Republicans in the house should pass a fiscal bill along with any other bills they want and send them to the senate and then leave town. No negotiations with this administration. The white house can submit their own bills. That is how it is supposed to work. If the senate takes up any of the house passed bills then a combined committee works out a compromise.

If taxes go back to the pre-Bush tax cuts due to not reaching an agreement, then we should go back to the spending levels that existed just before Bush cut taxes. The Republican congress of the 90´s balanced the budget. Say it loudly, over and over again. If the Democrats argue it was Clinton who balanced the budget, then fine, we´ve got them agreeing that that is where we need to get back to.

Then start cutting taxes again, and cutting spending from there, working on entitlements.

Put this country back in order.

We have been disappointed by republican inaction and compromise with the devil since 2008. I have no reason to believe that we will stop the tax increase or decrease wasteful spending.

It´s easy to forget that Obama is not doing any of this backroom planning. He is the leader in name only. There is no other way that that the debt and deficit can be reduced - let´s face facts.
