Chile and Mexico among the
best performing members of
OECD in next two years

MercoPress [Montevideo, Uruguay], by Staff

Original Article

Posted By:PageTurner, 11/30/2012 3:44:55 PM

Chile and Mexico will manage to a great extent to avoid the negative prospects from OECD members in the next two years. The half year report from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development anticipates a serious weakening of activity in the Euro zone, the US and Japan, but the two OECD Latinamerican members as well as emerging power Brazil will have a contrasting performance. In the case of Chile and Mexico, the OECD report upped this year’s expectations fuelled by strong domestic demand, but for 2013 was less enthusiastic since exports to rich countries are expected to drop.

Comments:
Chilean Model! Fiscal discipline, private social security accounts, free trade. Mexico copies the Chilean Model and gets the same result. As America goes down the Obamadrain, Chile soars ahead, with literally no debt, none, negative debt! Mexico does the same thing and gets the - surprise! - same result! Chile´s GDP is 5.2% while the OECD average is 1.4%. Why can´t we do what they did?

And....the Mexicans have exported their unemployment to the U.S.

Maybe a trade deal could be worked out under NAFTA that we keep our unemployed and they keep theirs.

This would be hilarious if it weren´t so stupid. If they are doing so well, keep your citizens there and quit sending them up to the USA.

Energy Secretary: Fracking is safe
Washington Examiner, by Sean Higgins    Original Article

Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz told reporters Thursday morning that the process of natural gas extraction called fracking was safe and should be used, provided it was properly regulated. “I still have not seen any evidence of fracking per se contaminating groundwater,” he said at a breakfast hosted by the Christian Science Monitor. Moniz’s comments represented a blunt rebuke to many in the environmental community, which has increasingly turned against fracking. President Obama has generally rejected those concerns and regularly touted natural gas as a “bridge to a low carbon future,” a phrase Moniz used again Thursday.

Did White House Have
Something To Do With
Chattanooga Editor´s Firing?
Investor´s Business Daily, by Editorial    Original Article

Media: A Tennessee newspaper fired an editor over a hard-hitting editorial denouncing President Obama´s jobs plan on the very day the president came to town to tout it. This has the odor of White House revanchism. The Chattanooga Times Free Press insists that its firing of Drew Johnson for the title of his editorial, "Take Your Jobs Plan And Shove It, Mr. President," was unrelated to content, and merely a case of an insubordinate editor changing his headline to a riff on a song by Nashville singer Johnny PayCheck over another headline. Frankly, it´s hard to believe.

The fire began at approximately 4 a.m. and firefighters reached the scene at 4:30 a.m., having been alerted to the blaze by a member of the public.

The resignation of Florida Education Commissioner Tony Bennett couldn´t have come at a better time. His disgraceful grade-fixing scandal is the perfect symbol of all that´s wrong with the federal education schemes peddled by Bennett and his mentor, former GOP Gov. Jeb Bush: phony academic standards, crony contracts, big-government and big-business collusion masquerading as "reform." Bennett stepped down Thursday after the Associated Press reported that he had meddled with charter school accountability ratings in Indiana last fall while serving as that state´s schools superintendent. The beneficiary of his intervention? Big GOP donor and charter school operator Christel DeHaan,

Jennifer Aniston has never appreciated people prying into her personal life -- least of all Katie Couric, who hosts her own syndicated daytime talk show. During a July 31 appearance on E!´s Chelsea Lately, Aniston dissed the 56-year-old TV personality and debunked a recent tabloid rumor about life with Justin Theroux. Aniston´s BFF Chelsea Handler began by reading an except from a recent magazine article which claimed the couple are nudists: "Jen´s started to embrace her curves at home since longtime lover, nudist Justin, has persuaded her to join in on the fun," the comedienne read.

Newspaper Editor Fired

Drew Johnson, the editorial page editor of the Chattanooga Times Free Press was fired after 14 months on the job for publishing an editorial with a headline that read: "Take your jobs plan and shove it, Mr. President." The editorial ran Tuesday, the same day Obama visited Chattanooga. The powers-that-be posted a notice Thursday explaining the firing: The headline was inappropriate for this newspaper. It was not the original headline approved for publication, and Johnson violated the normal editing process when he changed the headline. The newspaper’s decision to terminate Johnson had nothing to do with the content of the editorial,

President Mujica besides calling on suspended Paraguay to return with ‘intelligence and pragmatism’ to Mercosur and waning about the fact that the landlocked country needs of the Parana River and the River Plate for a sea outlet, ironically stated Uruguay was willing to grant Paraguay all the rotating Mercosur presidencies

The United States will temporarily shut down its embassies and consulates around the world Sunday, including those in Iraq, Afghanistan and Egypt, as a precautionary measure, the State Department said Thursday. State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf did not say how long the international installations would stay closed -- only that the decision was taken “out of an abundance of caution and care for our employees and others who may be visiting.” Sunday is a normal workday in many Arab and Middle Eastern countries. Embassies in Europe and Latin America would be shuttered that day anyway.

American scientists claim the planet is undergoing one of the largest changes in climate in the past 65 million years. Climatologists at Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment have warned the likely rate of change over the next century will be at least 10 times quicker than any climate shift since the dinosaurs became extinct. If the trend continues at its current rapid pace, it will place significant stress on terrestrial ecosystems around the world, and many species will need to make behavioral, evolutionary or geographic adaptations to survive, they said.

It gets to the point where I barely have enough for lunch sometimes,” said Angel Richardson, 21, who works at McDonald’s. “I’m five months pregnant, what am I going to do in four months? I hope something changes.” The minimum wage is $7.25 nationally and $8.25

They might want to have a fistfight. They might come at you with an ax handle. CHRIS MATTHEWS: Would you consider the guy with the ax handle armed or not?

The administration has popped the bubble of hope some small business had that switching to part-time staff would let them escape the high costs of Obamacare. The Small Business Administration on Thursday created a website to explain to businesses that the government will simply tally up the number of part-time employees firms have to determine if enough hours have been worked to essentially create a "full-time equivalent." Some smaller businesses had thought that if they could get under the 50 full-time employee cap that activates Obamacare by cutting full-time workers and hiring more part-time workers they would escape

The nation´s most active death penalty state is running out of its execution drug. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice said Thursday that its remaining supply of phenobarbital expires in September and that no alternatives have been found. It wasn´t immediately clear whether two executions scheduled for next month would be delayed. The state has already executed 11 death-row inmates this year, and at least seven more have execution dates in coming months. "We will be unable to use our current supply of phenobarbital after it expires," agency spokesman Jason Clark said. "We are exploring all options at this time."

This means more than just an expansion of the probe to the FEC. It´s a new link to the Obama team. In May this column noted that the targeting of conservatives started in 2008, when liberals began a coordinated campaign of siccing the federal government on political opponents. The Obama campaign helped pioneer this tactic. In late summer of 2008, Obama lawyer Bob Bauer took
