Video: Staten Island Hurricane
Recovery Meeting Erupts in Rage

PJ Media, by Bryan Preston

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 11/30/2012 11:01:37 AM

“No one is doing what’s right for us!” “We go from one to another,” one homeowner said. “We go from FEMA to our homeowners. My homeowners’ insurance offered me $150. What can I do with that?” Borough President James Molinaro almost accidentally riffed the old Reagan line about the most terrifying words in the English language during Thursday night’s meeting: “We’re from the government, and we’re here to help.” “We are friends, we’re here to help,” he said. “There’s a lot of confusion. There’s a lot of statements and mis-statements being made by individuals.”

Comments:
I feel really sorry for these people, but how many of them voted for Democrats knowing the results they are seeing will be guaranteed. The author asks the same question regarding the "malignant incompetent" 0bama. What a perfect description.

FYI, Staten Island routinely votes conservative which is probably why they getting the shaft. Only the North Shore is Democrat and it escaped most of the damage. This county has the only 2 GOP reps on City Council. I doubt that these Sandy victims even were able to vote.

They have voted democrat for years and reelecting the same incompetent politicians. They deserve every bad thing they are getting. They asked for it.

Wrong.S.I. voted for McCain and if they had been able to vote would have voted for Romney. The Democrats on the North Shore pushed Obama with the usual voter fraud.

Sounds like New Orleans to me.

How did a do-nothing outfit like FEMA get 700 people to show up? I think the only time FEMA got that much attention on the gulf coast after Katrina was when they were hiring.

I saw the debris at the first of the segment. Forget FEMA, why haven´t Staten Island residents cleared it?

Staten Islanders should have purchased their own insurance and they should have had flood coverage. You should not rely on the government to feed you, clothe you and house you. Oh, and deal with reputable insurance companies, will you? You probably boght the cheapest stuff out there. Hey, what can happen, right?

Responsible governments assess the probability and consequences of natural disasters. The direct hit by a Class 1 hurricane had to have been on the list. Raising the ends of the subway tunnels must have been considered. An evacuation plan and possibly even sea walls must have been considered.

Think for a moment of the trillions spent on global warming which just might occur in 100 years. Class 1 hurricanes hit the US maybe 40 times a year. Maybe we should rethink our priorities.

#2 and 11, not many people in Staten Island would vote for Obama.

As #1 states, folks in Staten Island routinely vote for Republicans and Conservatives. IMHO, that´s why they´re not getting much help from FEMA.

#18 - We don´t get around 40 category 1 hurricanes per year. We´ve had a total of 116 in the 160 years (1851 - 2010).

The lesson we learned from the Nashville floods of 2010, was to stay as far away from the Feds as possible, and get to work ourselves, and accept the aid of NGO charities when possible.

Not sure where #2 and #11 got their information, but it seems to conflict with others who are local and know how Staten Island (at least the part that suffered so badly) voted.

As for those who are blaming the SI homeowners for what they are now going through. it is rude and unkind when you have no idea of their circumstances. Kneejerkism at its worst.

And here for the "flood insurance experts" is the rundown on that subject:

On Saturday, President Obama handed over the camera and teleprompter to the mother of a victim of Sandy Hook Elementary shooter Adam Lanza. Explaining his exploitative choice via email to his entire WhiteHouse.gov email list, Obama explained: Each week, like many presidents before me, I sit down to record a short address to the nation. It´s something I take very seriously because it offers a chance to bring focus to an issue that needs to be part of the national dialogue. But today, I´ve asked someone to take my place.

"Comprehensive immigration reform" is shaping up to be the next Obamacare. By negotiating in secret, by drafting an enormously complicated bill, and by rushing passage with almost no time for public debate, the Senators who are pushing immigration reform are following the same path that divided the nation in 2009-10 and led to one of the worst expansions of federal regulation, spending and power in American history. Though they may have the best of intentions as regards the underlying result, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and his colleagues in the

Neither have ever served in public office. Cain — the former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza — ran for president as a Republican in 2012. Due to the United States media, most are aware that Timothy McVeigh slaughtered 168 people with a bomb in 1995. Most Americans also know the names of our three most monstrous serial killers: “The Green River Killer” Gary Ridgeway, Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy. Here is something I don’t understand: liberals are often revealed as vile, vulgar hatemongers–not all of them, of course, but far too many–yet they never seem to pay a penalty at the polls. Why is that? Margaret Thatcher’s death has been the latest occasion for the Left to show its true stripes. All across the U.K., there have been demonstrations–vulgar at best, and violent at worst. In Bristol, lefties celebrating a Thatcher “death street party” started fires, destroyed property and battled police: This evening in Trafalgar Square, liberals have turned out for a long-planned celebration of Thatcher’s death:
