Kerry Still Coy About Secretary of State Job

| The Associated Press reports: Sen. John Kerry is angling to be the nation´s top diplomat by being, well, diplomatic. The longtime Massachusetts lawmaker has largely stayed quiet while President Barack Obama considers him for his next secretary of state. Kerry has asked his supporters to avoid lobbying the White House on his behalf. And he´s defended his chief rival for the State Department post, Susan Rice, amid Republican criticism of her explanation of the deadly attack on Americans in Libya. Kerry´s strategy reflects what people close

Comments: Better at State than Defense! I think this whole kerfuffle about Susan Rice is meant to elevate Kerry for the job.

If being diplomatic is a euphesism for lying, both Rice and Kerry have the experience the Obama-Nation needs to lead to the destruction they seek. Obama Rice Holder Jerrett Van Jones- and the puppet master Soros- all domestic enemies, and plenty more in the rat infested sewers of government.

Seems like bad people live a long time. Guess it is all that free healthcare that the elites are getting from us. Our ´leaders´ sure do grow old gracefully. The only ones dying young are the Breitbarts. Look at Jimmy Carter, McCain, John Kerry, etc. Perfect health. The rest of us must cope with ailments. The secret to a long and healthy life: be elected to office in DC and vote leftwing.

After all the criticism of Rice (she deserves it), will the door then be wide open for Kerry? Will critics be reluctant to go after Kerry?

Is there a statute of limitations on treason? He should have been prosecuted for that trip to France during the Viet Nam War.
I hope the Swift Boat vets go after him in the press again during his confirmation, I heard that they were gearing up for that.

A reverse mortgage lender may employ a former GOP senator as corporate pitchman, but there’s no love lost on Capitol Hill. President Barack Obama’s fiscal 2014 Housing and Urban Development budget includes a warning about a nearly $1 billion bailout for the Federal Housing Administration from the Treasury. HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan blamed that deficit squarely on issues with government-insured reverse mortgages, which HUD refers to as Home Equity Conversion Mortgages, or HECMs. That’s an acronym that Susan Collins, R-Maine, conceded she couldn’t really pronounce.

World leaders are moving carefully and anxiously, trying to prevent a disaster in the Korean Peninsula. This increasingly unpredictable round of saber-rattling is far from over, but so far the winner is the North Korean regime and the losers are the brutally oppressed North Korean people, joined by much of the rest of the world. While we watch the drama from far away, it´s worth noting just how far North Korean weapons programs -- not just the weapons themselves -- can reach. U.S. intelligence officials differ on their estimates of the range and accuracy of North Korean missiles,

Secretary of State John F. Kerry is getting mixed reviews in his first high-stakes test as North Korea brazenly threatens a nuclear showdown — a challenge that highlights the strengths as well as the weaknesses of the nation’s newly minted top diplomat, experts say. “If you wanted a champion for peace and stability, somebody who has a sophistication and savvy, we couldn’t have a better person than John Kerry in the mix,” said Charles Stith, a Boston University professor and former U.S. ambassador to Tanzania. With North Korea apparently poised to launch a missile test, Kerry traveled East

The world of golf (an admittedly precious domain) held its breath Friday night and Saturday morning, waiting to learn if Tiger Woods would be disqualified at the Masters for a rules violation. This, after the enforcers of the rules had assessed a one-shot penalty against a fourteen year-old for slow play. Chinese amateur Tianlang Guan took it well, saying he "respected" the decision. Those unfamiliar with golf´s insistence on strict enforcement of the rules were put in mind of Inspector Javert and his lust to punish a man for stealing a loaf of bread.

IT MAY HAVE BEEN inauguration weekend, but the minds of many at the Iowa State Society Ball were already four years in the future. A leading presidential candidate for 2016 was in their midst, working the crowd, welcomed with adulation by all. Riding a wave of energy, this political maestro took the stage with Iowa’s congressional delegation and, his suit crackling under the klieg lights, gave a fiery address that left his audience swelled with hope and wondering whether they’d gazed upon the next leader of the free world. “I am proud to be president of the United States,

The House voted today to block the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) from ruling on workplace disputes until the Senate has properly confirmed three board members. “This bill will constrain [executive] power, there is divided power in government and that’s the message we sent,” Rep. Phil Roe (R., Tenn.) said. “I would have liked the Republicans and Democrats to come together on this because the Democrats won’t always have the presidency.” “The [court] has already ruled once that if there’s not [three valid board members] they will throw out the rulings and that costs the parties

The National Hockey League threw down the gauntlet Thursday, announcing that it wants to become the "most inclusive professional sports league" through a partnership that commissioner Gary Bettman said would "reaffirm... that the official policy of the NHL is one of inclusion on the ice, in our locker rooms and in the stands." Which is something of a test to the National Football League, whose officials are scrambling to design a kind of prevent defense for the homophobia they´re anticipating as more and more of its players appear ready to publicly announce that they´re gay —

As gun reform legislation rages through the halls of Congress and the White House, hunters and gun enthusiasts confront bare shelves and buying restrictions on supplies, even as retailers and manufacturers race to keep up with demand. Wal-Mart limits buyers to three boxes when ammunition is available, and Cabela’s is limiting online orders to one box per day of the popular .22 long shells increasingly used as cheap ammo for target rifles and pistols, reports Forbes, which is tracking the trend.A newly enacted Connecticut law now includes a $35 permit to buy ammo

WASHINGTON — It´s probably possible for a political group to be worse at accomplishing its core mission than Progress Kentucky is, but it´s difficult to imagine how. In its short lifespan, the super PAC focused solely on defeating Sen. Mitch McConnell has instead helped the Republican incumbent deflect his low approval rating and conservative critics by subjecting McConnell to comically incompetent political attacks. "They´ve managed to become McConnell´s favorite whipping boy," said Jimmy Cauley, a longtime Kentucky Democratic strategist. "It´s kind of laughable because they didn´t exist four months ago. A

Buckingham Palace raised concerns about the ceremonial funeral with military honours for Lady Thatcher that is to be attended on Wednesday by the Queen and more than 2,000 guests including every surviving British prime minister, the Guardian understands. As invitations were sent out to world leaders, including all surviving US presidents and Hillary Clinton, it emerged that concerns were expressed at the highest levels about whether it is appropriate for such a controversial figure to be escorted on her final journey by more than 700 military personnel. In discussions about the funeral held over recent years, it is understood

President Obama likes pretending he floats above politics. In fact, he is the most compulsively partisan president in modern times. Everything he says and does is better understood through a partisan lens. So consider the recent Washington Post article in which Scott Wilson and Philip Rucker reported Mr. Obama wants to "cement his legacy" by working "to flip the Republican-held House back to Democratic control" so he can then "push forward with a progressive agenda on gun control, immigration, climate change and the economy during his final two years in office."

MARION COUNTY, Tenn.—Brad Carver, a Georgia lobbyist, is thirsting for a small patch of land just north of the line now dividing Georgia from Tennessee. Two centuries ago, surveyors from Georgia and Tennessee marched through the region´s mountains and hollows to mark the official border between the two states. They were supposed to follow the 35th parallel, according to an agreement approved in 1802 by Congress. Instead, they wandered about a mile south, marking a border that puts the Georgia state line here, just a minute´s stroll from the edge of the broad Tennessee River.

Although Levin would not offer the congressman’s name on air, he has been a vocal critic of various members of the House Republican leadership in the past. But Levin called the situation “fascism.” “Well, it has come to my attention that there is a Republican congressman out there who doesn’t like what I’ve been saying,” Levin said. “It has come to my attention that there is a

Pro golfers, golf writers, and TV commentators are up in arms that Tiger Woods was only given a 2-stroke penalty for his illegal drop on the 15th hole yesterday. Tiger said last night that he dropped his ball two yards behind his previous spot, clearly violating the rule that you must drop "as nearly as possible" to your original spot. Golf people are not happy about it. They say that the new rule is B.S. (or it´s at least being misinterpreted), and Tiger should DQ himself to save the integrity of the game.

Few Americans can not answer this question: who is the worst domestic mass murderer in United States’ history? Due to the United States media, most are aware that Timothy McVeigh slaughtered 168 people with a bomb in 1995. Most Americans also know the names of our three most monstrous serial killers: “The Green River Killer” Gary Ridgeway, Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy. The U.S. media is again responsible for the general awareness of these men; these stories deserved — and received — national attention due to our common interest in personal safety, the rule of law

In Philadelphia, at a human abattoir on Lancaster Avenue, is where it ends, not where it starts. It starts with the perversion of language. It starts when the icons of a dissipated culture reduce a baby to a “fetus.” From there, Yeats’s blood-dimmed tide rolls rapidly in. Before long, a baby is not a person but a punishment, as President Barack Obama framed the matter in his familiar off-the-cuff iciness. Of course, to describe newborn children in their boundless possibilities and wonder would be to acknowledge, foremost, their humanity. That is why, instead, abortion enthusiasts must grope for words

Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-WV), one of the architects of the Affordable Care Act, said on Tuesday that the healthcare law, set to go into full effect in less than eight months, is “probably the most complex piece of legislation ever passed by the United States Congress” and “is just beyond comprehension.” Rockefeller said he is concerned that early missteps with implementing the healthcare overhaul may cascade into confusion and chaos. The law, said Rockefeller, is “so complicated and if it isn’t done right the first time, it will just simply get worse.” Rockefeller’s consternation echoes comments made earlier this

Here is something I don’t understand: liberals are often revealed as vile, vulgar hatemongers–not all of them, of course, but far too many–yet they never seem to pay a penalty at the polls. Why is that? Margaret Thatcher’s death has been the latest occasion for the Left to show its true stripes. All across the U.K., there have been demonstrations–vulgar at best, and violent at worst. In Bristol, lefties celebrating a Thatcher “death street party” started fires, destroyed property and battled police: This evening in Trafalgar Square, liberals have turned out for a long-planned celebration of Thatcher’s death:

With President Obama, there’s always a catch. In the 2014 budget he announced last week, Obama proposed a more accurate way of calculating the inflation rate for annual cost-of-living increases in Social Security. It’s a technical change in pursuit of honesty and good government. And if adopted, it would cause benefits to grow more slowly, though almost imperceptibly so. Republican leaders in Congress ought to be delighted since they had “championed”—Obama’s word—the idea in the first place. Then came the catch. The president’s price for adopting this gentle reform was hundreds of billions in new tax increases.

TALLAHASSEE - Picture this: You´re in the left lane of the interstate, driving a little below the speed limit, when some guy zips up behind you and swerves past you on the right. Then you notice the blue lights flashing. You´re savoring the satisfaction of seeing a trooper actually nab an aggressive driver — until you realize it´s you he´s pulling over. This could happen, if not very often, under a major transportation package expected to be taken up in the Senate Appropriations Committee next week. Introduced by Sen. Jeff Brandes, a St. Petersburg Republican, the bill is a 173-page
