Susan Rice’s already fading chances of becoming the next secretary of state suffered another serious blow Wednesday courtesy of moderate GOP Sen. Susan Collins. Rice, the U.N. ambassador, will need the support of a handful of Republicans if she expects to succeed Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. But Collins emerged from a face-to-face meeting and blasted Rice’s response to the Benghazi attack — the latest of several Republicans this week to signal that a Rice nomination will have real trouble getting through the Senate.
That´s right, if she comes out and opposes Traitor John as well, then I´ll be impressed. Rice may be the most incompetent, anti-American joke in this sad sack Administration, and that´s saying something.
If Susan Collins who votes further left than most democrats, can´t accept Ambassador Rice´s explanations then she doesn´t stand a chance for the SoS job. I don´t think Kerry does either but it´ll be fun trying to have him produce his military records. The quality of Obamas staff appointments so far has been uniformly low. I don´t expect it to get any better!
FTA: But one GOP senator told POLITICO Wednesday that McCain, Graham and Ayotte were so incensed after their powwow with Rice because they felt she was not being straight or candid with them about Benghazi
Powwow? Maybe Barry should just wait till after the New Year when Lizzie Warren (D-Cherokee Nation) can join in on the discussions.
Sounds like their narrowing the field, one idiot possibly disqualified, next idiot for secretary of state- kerry? Obviously, idiot is the qualifying characteristic. Following on the present idiot now in that office.
Must agree with #11, I have the same kind of feeling about the SoS replacement. Everything the Chicago Gang on the Potomac does is a smoke screen for some other nefarious action. Can´t trust any of them, especially the non astute ValJar.
If the Sens really think she is a possible nominee (and not just a way to get Repubs to further P off the black and female vote), then one of them should just say "A nomination of Susan Rice for Secretary of State can only be saying one thing: the President thinks Sen. Kerry is not qualified for the job".
Rice it seems is the perfect product of the affirmative action, quota driven, divisive race bating world the Liberals have visited on us - multi-generational entitled attitude, arrogant, flippant, supercilious. She is a piece of work.

I´m starting to get the sense that the WH Choom Gang is laffing their arses off at us - McCain/Graham, Ayotte/Collins - all of us spinning our heads over Susan Rice, when they planned something else, someone else, all along.
How John McCain can even LOOK at John Kerry even in the Senate knowing what J´Effin did and said about U.S. soldiers at the very time he, McCain, was in the Hanoi Hilton ... I´ll never know.
But then, I can´t pretend to EVER get inside the heads of our elected Super-Smarts.

Let´s put our liberal thinking cap on. Why should Susan Rice even have a job? At age 38 she is worth over 30 million dollars from investing in EVIL OIL. Who wants someone like that in a liberal administration?
When Maureen Dowd is concerned about Rice you know you have a problem. No Drama Obama is actually All Drama All the Time Obama. He could fix this very easily and get back to trying to solve bigger problems, but he won´t.
Part of this is policy but a lot is personality. Rice has made a lot of enemies over the years and the Sec of State job requires someone with a lot more tact than Rice. Obama may be as shocked as GHW Bush was when his nomination of John Tower for Defense crashed.
Thsuusaan Cauulliinths´ cadence, #26, is nothing more than a speech impediment that could have been corrected in childhood. She should spend some quality time with Barry, who whistles the letter S like a cheap plastic toy.
FTA: Rice acknowledged this week that she had mistakenly described the attack as something spontaneous rather than premeditated. But she said neither she nor anyone else in the administration intended to mislead the public.
I just read her bio at Wikipedia (don´t laugh) and it is not exactly a glowing bio. I always thought Wikipedia was written by the person or family of the personality in question.
Rice has a history of making "mistakes" and lots of people died. In many of her positions, she was simply too inexperienced, which surprisingly, is stated in the Wikipedia entry.
I really think Obama thought when he made Susan Rice the UN Ambassador, the morons who voted for him would think he was just elevating Condi Rice. They would only see the name Rice and not know the difference. Republicans should come out and publicly say "Susan Rice is no Condi Rice!"
Re: 17---I for one was never convinced Romney would win. Towards the end I became certain he would earn a clear majority of votes, popular and electoral. I was equally certain the Choomster would steal the election through vote fraud. And I was dead certain Republicans would do nothing about it.
Re: The remarks of 23 and 29 - I suspect that she told Collins something like this, "Listen up, we´re black, we´re in your face and we´re not going away. Any criticism leveled at me or BO will be denounced as RACISM - got it? And by the way, we KNOW where you live!" Probably the same thing that Romney will hear at lunch.
Obama is flexing his potus muscles with Rice. I suspect for effect, to appease his black base and to show he´s appreciative for their efforts. He will select either Kerry or as #11 predicts, Jon Huntsman. If he selects Kerry, they may likely lose a senate seat. Therefore it could possibly be Huntsman.
When you´ve lost Susan Collins... # 31 Collins compensates for her speech impediment by speaking very slowly and deliberately, which gives the impression she´s not a quick thinker. Barry´s obvious speech impediment has never once been acknowledged by his adoring media. If George Bush had the same impediment , every time he spoke in public, the media would preface their report by mentioning the sibilance problem. And when they asked him questions at a press conference, they would collaborate so all his answers required the use of the letter " S ".
Rhodes Scholar -you KNOW what that bunch is up to Foreign Policy advisor to Dukakis - oh lord On Bill Clinton´s campaigns - she´s a crook Management Consultant McKinsey & CO .. I repeat Intellibridge Brookings Foreign Policy advisor, John Kerry - holy sh ... CFR Aspen Institute
This woman is programmed to be exactly what she is.
But how the hell did she become worth $33 million?
You know your ship is sunk when you can´t even convince on of the dumbest RINO´s in the senate of your case. And trust me ole Suzzie is right up their as being one of the dullest knives in the Republican Senatorial drawer, right next to her buddy Murkowski. Susan rice is toast. It´s only a matter of how long the Obamanation keeps her in the oven.
Hi folks. I am was as frustrated as anyone else re the lack of outrage coming from Repub big wheels in our Congress. Then I come across an article that shed a little light on the issue. In 1982 to settle a lawsuit the RNC and RSC entered into an agreement or Consent Decree which is national in scope. (Cant be racist). It limited RNCs ability to engage or assist in voter fraud prevention unless the RNC obtained court approval. Any prescint with majority of minority voters was off limits to voter screening. End result-- NO VOTER monitoring allowed by GOP. Google it for more prescise explanations. Case pending in SCOTUS, 30 years later. Goodby GOP.
#12, "The spine donor republican´s" aren´t going to do anything because Collins and the entire repub party are fully complicit and onboard Obama´s statist agenda.
What we are watching from Collins and the others on Benghazi is a smokescreen and pure "Theatre" to make us think they are putting up a fight against the dems. They are not. Just as their protests about new taxes are phony. They will cave on everything including the ´Dream Act´ while we are focusuing on Benghazi and the upcoming Christmas Holiday´s. The same tactic the repubs used before they caved to Obama by design,on virtually everything during the 2010 lame Duck session during the week leading up to Christmas. They mean to drag out Benghazi untill the Christmas vacation hoping we will foget about it by the time they return, much like Issa and Boehner dragged out ´Fast and Furious´ with their ´Good cop,Bad cop´ routine. Anyone heard about ´Fast and Furious´ lately? I didn´t think so. And 300 mexican´s and two American Border Patrol agents were murdered in that one and all as a pretext to take away our God Given second Ammendment Right´s.
They are all collaborative Traitors in both Parties. WE need a Third Party Now!
WASHINGTON- Democratic Representative Mel Watt´s nomination to lead the agency that regulates taxpayer-owned mortgage financiers Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac cleared a procedural hurdle in the U.S. Senate, putting it on course for final approval likely later on Tuesday. President Barack Obama nominated Watt in May to head the Federal Housing Finance Agency, but Republicans had blocked a final vote. Last month, however, Senate Democrats changed the rules to allow nominees like Watt to overcome filibusters with a simple majority in the 100-seat chamber. Previously, it took 60 votes.
The generous mystery tipper who has been leaving waiters and waitresses across the country thousands of dollars in "Tips for Jesus" — and stamped with the @tipsforjesus handle — was identified by a New York City waiter as Jack Selby, former PayPal vice president. Aruj Dhawan, a waiter at Bo´s Kitchen, told the New York Post that Selby and two other patrons gave him a $1,000 tip on a $111.05 bill. "As I was about to drop the check off, one of the men said they would ‘make my night.’ They called me over, gave me the check," Dhawan told
General Motors GM -0.22% CEO Dan Akerson and the GM board have selected product chief Mary Barra to succeed him, the company said today, and Akerson is retiring in January. The move will make 33-year GM veteran Barra the first woman to lead a global automaker. Arguably, it will make her the highest-profile female CEO in the world. It also set in motion a cascade of other management changes in the biggest re-set of the automaker’s leadership since the 2009 U.S.-government bailout. But all the moves were internal. Akerson accelerated the timing of his exit by several months because of
Democrats have blamed much of the gridlock on Capitol Hill on a number of GOP extremists who won’t accept legislation that is not perfect in their minds. Asked by Kenneth G. Langone, the co-founder of Home Depot, whether there are any extremists in the Democratic ranks, House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer said no. “I don’t think there are any extremists in my party,” the Maryland Democrat said on CNBC’s “Squawk Box.” Mr. Langone expressed disbelief at the comment. “What more can I say,” he said. “The other guys are the bad guys, you are the good guys.” Mr. Hoyer said
“Netflix is casting its vote for Mitt Romney,” quipped The Hollywood Reporter. The video streaming service has acquired a Greg Whiteley documentary titled “Mitt” that will debut January 24. The behind-the-scenes documentary on Romney’s campaigns for president from 2006 to 2012 with a “surprising level of access” to the candidate will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 17. Lisa Nishimura, Netflix vice president of original documentary and comedy, declared "This rare inside look at Mitt Romney and his family as he runs for president showcases a unique kind of storytelling, one which takes the viewer well beyond the
Reporting from South Africa on Tuesday´s NBC Today about the memorial ceremony for Nelson Mandela, Nightly News anchor Brian Williams noted how the "dignitary section has some criminals, some thieves, some kings, some presidents" and that "Several have been life-long sworn enemies." He then proclaimed that President Obama´s "handshake with [Cuban leader] Raul Castro was one of the better moments." [View video after the jump] Williams gushed that oppressive dictators sitting side by side with democratically elected leaders of the free world was somehow part of Mandela´s legacy: "What would Nelson Mandela say to all of them and say to
The Club for Growth said Tuesday it won´t help Rep. Steve Stockman´s (R-Texas) primary challenge against Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas). The conservative group said it has no problem with Cornyn and won´t spend the millions of dollars necessary to help the cash-strapped Stockman in the race. “While Congressman Stockman has a pro-economic growth record, so does Senator Cornyn, as witnessed by his 87 percent lifetime Club for Growth score,” Club for Growth President Chris Chocola said in a statement. Chocola said the Club´s PAC looks at the strength of the incumbent´s record, the degree of difference between the candidates and
On Tuesday morning, New York’s top court ruled that FoxNews.com reporter Jana Winter cannot be forced by a Colorado court to reveal her sources regarding a major story about the Aurora movie theater shooter. Voting 4-3 in favor of Winter, the New York State Court of Appeals reversed a lower court order and effectively prevented Winter from having to be subpoenaed by the Colorado court. “[A]n order from a New York court directing a reporter to appear in another state where, as here, there is a substantial likelihood that she will be compelled to identify sources who have been promised
Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly made her inaugural appearance on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno Monday night and discussed how she went from practicing law to hosting a primetime show on Fox, how much fun she has catching politicians in their dissembling, and why she so dislikes Anthony Weiner (aside from the obvious). “I’m a straight news anchor, I’m not one of the opinion hosts at Fox,” Kelly said. “But I always laugh, because I’ll have a conservative pull me aside and say, ‘I love your conservative principles,’ and I’ll say, ‘You assume too much.’ And then the liberals
LOS ANGELES- CBS says it is adapting U.S. author Alice Hoffman´s 2011 historical novel "The Dovekeepers" as a miniseries to air in 2015. Roma Downey and Mark Burnett are executive producing the project, which is about four extraordinary women whose lives intersect in a fight for survival at the siege of Masada in 70 C.E. "After being forced out of their home in Jerusalem by the Romans, 900 Jews were ensconced in a fortress at Masada, a mountain in the Judean desert," CBS said in a synopsis. "Besieged at Masada, the Jews held out for months against the vast Roman
Here´s the tweet from Carrie Underwood that has everyone talking... [Tweet] She was responding to some harsh criticism of the "The Sound of Music Live!" which aired on NBC last week, starring Underwood as Maria von Trapp. The show, which still garnered huge ratings, ended up being parodied by "Saturday Night Live" and was even criticized by some of the original "Sound of Music" stars. Actress Kym Karath tweeted that some of the show was "painful to watch." "X Factor" host Mario Lopez joined Fox and Friends this morning to discuss Underwood´s performance and the response. Elisabeth Hasselbeck believes that
Yesterday, The New York Times reported that President Obama had hired former-President Clinton Chief of Staff John Podesta as "counselor" for a year. This would actually be the second time Podesta served Obama, since Podesta led Obama´s presidential transition team in 2008. Since then, Podesta has not only returned to the progressive think tank he founded, the Center for American Progress (CAP), but he has also created a brand new think tank, the Washington Center for Equitable Growth, to focus on just income inequality. So just what will Podesta be doing for Obama this time around? The NYT reports: Mr. Podesta
A veteran Washington adviser who has worked for four Presidents on both sides of the political aisle said that the stunning Government Accountability Report report that found President Barack Obama has not had a one-on-one meeting with Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius since the passage of Obamacare over three years ago is an indictment of the entire White House operation and shows that the Obama administration has bordered on "malfeasance." "I have no doubt the White House is right, that Secretary Sebelius was in several group meetings with the president about health care," Gergen caveated, "but the whole
President Barack Obama’s Facebook page on Saturday posted a message honoring the dead from Pearl Harbor—accompanied by a picture of Obama descending the stairs next to the Pearl Harbor Memorial. The picture barely fits the name of the Arizona Memorial so it can frame Obama in the foreground. The post´s statement reads: Today, with solemn pride and reverence, let us remember those who fought and died at Pearl Harbor, acknowledge everyone who carried their legacy forward, and reaffirm our commitment to upholding the ideals for which they served. President Obama The Obama Administration´s current shipbuilding plan shrinks the size of
Just how much do many Hollywood liberals hate conservatives? In an interview with Playboy, Ben Affleck said, "When I watch a guy [on film] I know is a big Republican, part of me thinks, I probably wouldn’t like this person if I met him": PLAYBOY: You developed a political profile campaigning for presidential candidates Al Gore, John Kerry and Barack Obama. How did that come about? AFFLECK: I grew up in a house with a mother who was a teacher and a Freedom Rider—very left-wing Democrats living in a heterogeneous working-class neighborhood. I picked up a lot of those values there, and I
On his way to the podium at the memorial ceremony for former South African president Nelson Mandela, President Obama walked down the line of dignitaries, greeting other leaders there to pay their respects. Among the hands shaken: that of Cuban leader Raul Castro. Obama neither made a special effort to shake Castro’s hand nor to avoid him. A snub might have been awkward: In his speech, Obama praised Mandela’s “greatest gift” as “his recognition that we are all bound together in ways that can be invisible to the eye; that there is a oneness to humanity; that we achieve ourselves by
MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry opened her program over the weekend with a commentary about the Affordable Care Act’s colloquial moniker: “Obamacare.” She said that the word was originally created as a “derogatory term,” designed by white men as a way to delegitimize President Barack Obama and his achievement. However, she said that the term will soon be synonymous with all of Obama’s accomplishments and she urged her audience to use the term with pride. “I want to talk today about a controversial word. It’s a word that has been with us for years, and like it or not, it’s indelibly
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a last minute decision not to participate in a memorial service for the late South African President Nelson Mandela, despite having notified the South African government that he would attend the event. The decision was made in light of the high transportation costs resulting from the short notice of the trip and the security required for the prime minister in Johannesburg. The Prime Minister’s Office found that the trip would have cost roughly 7 million shekels ($2.4 million) – 2.8 million shekels for chartering a private El Al plane and a further 3.2 million shekels for
President Obama, former president George W. Bush and their wives departed Washington Monday morning on Air Force One on their way to a memorial service in South Africa for Nelson Mandela. The president and first lady Michelle Obama are being accompanied by Mr. Bush, former first lady Laura Bush and former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton on the flight to Johannesburg. A four-hour memorial service will be held on Tuesday for South Africa’s first black president. Mr. Mandela, the anti-apartheid revolutionary, died on Thursday at age 95. Former President Bill Clinton and daughter Chelsea are traveling separately to South Africa. Former President
President Obama will make remarks on Nelson Mandela´s legacy during a memorial service Tuesday for the late South African freedom fighter, officials said Monday. "We do expect President Obama to speak as part of the program," said Ben Rhodes, deputy national security adviser for strategic communications. The president and first lady Michelle Obama departed Monday for Johannesburg, where a Mandela memorial service will be held in a soccer stadium. Obama, who will also spend time with the Mandela family, is not scheduled to hold any bilateral meetings with foreign leaders while in South Africa, Rhodes said. Rhodes also said the
The Obama State Department has finally released a second round of photos revealing the harrowing devastation wrought by a terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012. The new photographs depict rampant damage to the consulate. They show charred walls, smoldering fires, Arabic graffiti defacing exterior walls, and scattered debris throughout. The extent of the damage would lead any reasonably serious person to conclude that this was a cold, calculated attack, carefully coordinated to mark the 11th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. Unfortunately for the American people, the Obama-Clinton-Rice cabal that led to the Benghazi cover-up was
Barack Obama has arrived in South Africa to lead the American delegation at a memorial service for former South African President Nelson Mandela in Johannesburg. But his party is reportedly stuck in traffic and he is said to have arrived late at the stadium for the ceremony. [Snip] But Mr Clinton, Mr Carter and his wife Rosalynn have all traveled separately to the event. All three networks on Monday morning highlighted the appearance of the Obamas at the Kennedy Center Honors, but only ABC fawned over "fashion win" of First Lady. Lara Spencer enthused that " one of the stars of the show was Michelle Obama." An excited Spencer explained that Mrs. Obama looked "absolutely ravishing in a flowing teal gown as she accompanied President Obama." The co-host declared, "Another big fashion win for the First Lady. CBS This Morning offered a full report on the various performers who were honored, but co-anchor Charlie Rose avoided ABC´s superlatives.
An Iraq veteran who thought he was buying an iPad as a Christmas present after responding to a Craigslist posting, has been shot dead in an Indianapolis parking lot by the fake sellers. New-dad Jim Vester, 32, was lured to an address on Wednesday in the west side of the city and brothers Tyron Kincade, 19, and Tyshaune Kincade, 18, have been arrested after Vester was shot dead leaving behind his one-year-old son, Gavin and wife, Jamie.
