The liberal Democrats won´t go along with this reasonable proposal by two lame-duck Republicans because it does not give the illegal aliens "a path to citizenship" that is liberal Democrat code for the illegal alien beneficiaries eventually being granted US voting rights, and access to the US social network of taxpayer provided benefits and services, including educational grants and loans.

Any of these laws that would grant a legal status to so-called illegal alien "kids" set a very bad precedent, because they most always also allow the "kids" illegal alien parents who brought them here illegally in the first place to also stay here, either by that being written in the law or administratively by liberal Homeland Security administrative policy thus further undermining the immigration laws.

Also illegal aliens have not stopped coming here, so once passed the law will be permanent on into the future, covering illegal alien "kids" who have not yet been brought here.

By doing that, these lame-duck Republicans are essentially telling prospective illegal aliens that if they bring their foreign born "kids" here and enroll them in the US public school system that they will all be granted safe harbor from deportation.

As far as I am concerned, the only "reasonable" plan means giving each criminal alien invader a number when they register.

When the approved legal immigrants from their country reach the immigrant that registered at home in their country, then start processing one in this country, one from their country, one from this country, one from their country and so on until the entire backlog is worked through.

Anything that puts the line jumpers ahead of the patient, law-abiding immigrants that follow the rules is a criminal travesty...and the US officials who advocate this law breaking should be prosecuted for conspiracy.

The headline is wrong, as these two lame-duck Republicans never proposed that any illegal aliens be put on a path to citizenship. What they advocate is a long held Republican position that certain illegal aliens be essentially given what amounts to guest worker visas, and that they would then have to apply for permanent residence a green card) if they wished by individually meeting the requirements for permanent residence under current immigration law in their own right.

However what these Republican lame-duck Senators are advocating regarding the illegal aliens someday becoming eligible for citizenship, by first becoming permanent residents and then meeting the naturalization qualifications for citizenship conflicts in one way with established law. Now any alien who enlists in the US military becomes eligible for immediate US citizenship, and you have to figure since that is the law now, that it would have to be changed, or that any illegal alien who gets in the military as a result of these Senator´s amnesty proposals would also become eligible for immediate US citizenship, something that you would think would be an unintended consequence, as by allowing illegal aliens to join the military they would be putting them at the absolute front of the citizenship line, and not at the end of that line, as these Senators have claimed.
