| Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) on Tuesday said he was sticking with conservative activist Grover Norquist’s anti-tax pledge during the upcoming deficit-reduction talks. “I don’t intend to violate any pledge,” said Toomey during an interview on CNN’s “Starting Point.” “My pledge is not to support higher taxes, what we are faced with in just a few weeks is a massive tax increase,” he added. “If I can help insure we don’t have that tax increase, then I believe I’ve fulfilled my pledge to fight for the lowest possible taxes.”

Good for Toomey. The rest of the pubs seem to be wimping out on us. All the talk is about tax increases, not one word about cost and spending reductions.

I like this Toomey guy. I´m glad he´s one of my senators. If we could only have gotten rid of Pennsylvania´s other (worthless) senator in the last election.

Sounds like weasel words to me - he said, "If I can help insure we don’t have that tax increase, then I believe I’ve fulfilled my pledge to fight for the lowest possible taxes.”
He didn´t say he wouldn´t raise taxes, just that he was going to fight for the lowest possible taxes.
They´re all getting ready to cave to avoid the fiscal cliff and then come back and tell us what a deal they got for us.

Yeah, we "fired" Lugar because he was too much of a RINO and then promptly lost that Senate seat to the dems that we had held for THIRTY SIX YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. But at least we have an ideologically pure loser who doesn´t hold the seat and a tax and spend liberal in the seat. Yeah us!!

As a former bull-rider, William “Buck” Uptmor didn’t get spooked by much. So when the fire began at the fertilizer plant in West, Texas, he jumped into his truck and rushed to the scene to assist volunteer firefighters. When his 17-year-old cousin, Reagan Uptmore, heard the explosion at the West Fertilizer Co. plant — a blast so powerful it registered as a magnitude 2.1 earthquake — his first thought was Buck: “I called him … and he didn’t answer,” Uptmore said. The family began a frantic search, but Uptmor is still missing and believed to be among the dead

The Boston Marathon terrorist attack allegedly hatched by two brothers from Chechnya is threatening to disrupt President Obama’s second-term agenda. Opponents of immigration reform — the most promising priority of Obama’s second term remaining after the defeat of gun control — are already using the attack to try to slow progress on a bipartisan Senate bill. (Snip) The issues are expected to create political problems and distractions for Obama, whose fight against terrorism has largely been a political success highlighted by the killing of Osama bin Laden. It is unclear how much oxygen the issue will consume in the coming weeks,

South Florida voters removed Allen West from Congress, but loyal supporters continue to finance his political efforts, contributing a stunning $479,000 to his political action committee during the first three months of 2013. That works out to more than $5,300 in cash pouring in every day to the Allen West Guardian Fund, a political action committee that´s part of a multi-faceted effort to keep the West brand vibrant. An analysis of reports filed this week with the Federal Elections Commission also showed:

WEST- Like his constituents, Mayor Tommy Muska suffered a deep personal loss from the devastating explosion that rocked his small town. First responders killed in the blast were fellow volunteer firemen and close friends. His home was among the 60-plus that were seriously damaged or destroyed. Yet, as West confronts a tragedy that no one saw coming, Muska exudes a resilient spirit that is characteristic of this Central Texas community forged by Czech immigrants more than a century ago(Snip)"Close-knit" is a phrase used repeatedly by both outsiders and West residents to describe the town´s character.

When Morris Bridges got the alert about the West Fertilizer Co. fire on Wednesday, he knew dinner would have to wait. Friends say the 41-year-old fire sprinkler technician and West Volunteer Fire Department rookie kissed his toddler goodbye and told his wife, Carman, that he would be right back. From miles around West, volunteers suited up and sped toward a fire on Jerry Mashek Road that turned out to be a death trap for Bridges and more than a dozen others. Of the 14 confirmed by late Friday as victims of the massive explosion, at least nine were firefighters.

BAGHDAD—Iraq´s vote on Saturday marks the first nationwide polls since U.S. soldiers left in late 2011. But weeks of deadly violence have already marred prospects for an election that now looks set to deepen sectarian divisions. At least 27 mostly young men were killed and 51 were wounded in the late-night bombing of a cafe in Iraq´s capital on Thursday, less than two days before polls were set to open. The pace of regular bombings over the past several months has increased in the weeks ahead of Saturday´s local elections and some 13 candidates, mostly from Iraq´s Sunni minority,

WATERTOWN, Mass. — Massachusetts State Police say a pair of brothers suspected in the Boston Marathon bombings spent the night in a Honda Civic and used it to carjack a Mercedes SUV. Police said Friday at a Watertown news conference that one of the brothers stayed with the carjacking victim for a few minutes and then let him go. They say one brother drove away in the Civic, and the other one drove away in the Mercedes. Police say one then ditched the Civic and reunited with his brother in the Mercedes.

The White House Correspondents’ Association dinner — considered the glitziest and most buzzworthy event of Washington’s party season — appears to be a bit more low-key this year. Between the guest list absences of some of Hollywood’s brightest stars and a more subdued party scene, many folks working behind the scenes agree this year’s dinner will be decidedly more subdued. One shindig noticeably void from the soiree circuit this year is Funny or Die’s annual First Amendment Party. Last year’s high-caliber bash on the eve of the dinner had partygoers bumping and grinding at the event’s huge

Federal law enforcement officials are actively investigating the possibility that the Boston bombers were known to the government’s terror-trackers, MailOnline understands. Any inquiry into the marathon bombing will look into whether agents could have taken action – but didn’t – to prevent the Tsarnaev brothers from obtaining the explosives that killed 3 and wounded 173 others. CBS News reported Friday evening that two years ago, the FBI interviewed the elder brother Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, who was killed in Thursday night´s dramatic shootout. The feds reportedly spoke to him at the request of an unspecified foreign government, but couldn´t

So once again, no good deed goes unpunished. Uncle Sam lets another bunch of leeching future terrorists into the country who have absolutely no business being here, gives them “asylum,” making them immediately eligible for welfare, and this is the thanks we get? They turn into mass murderers. We bring in thousands of Muslims from a primitive society that has been battling Christians for centuries, and put them into a peaceful Christian society — what could possible go wrong? This is what I was thinking about yesterday, with much of the city under what amounted to martial law.

WASHINGTON — New York Democratic Sen. As the hearing was happening, the Boston metropolitan area was on lockdown, as police attempted to

We are still speculating about virtually everything right now, but I feel as though I need to explain why I find the quick and easy conversation about Muslims being radicalized in America to be so illogical and laced with bigotry. Of course, there is a global violent jihadist movement, loosely organized, that wants to recruit young men to influence policies at home and abroad and perhaps usher in the global caliphate. That ideology motivates some Muslims to kill innocent people. But you´re allowed to be a radical Muslim in America.

The terrorist attack in Boston and evolving events indicate we have a domestic radical Islamic terror problem in America,” he wrote. “No more excuses. No more apologies. We are in a war of ideological wills and we shall prevail.”
