Good point. I feel an almost visceral loathing whenever I see Jindal. Everything about him does creep me out! It is not even about faith - I am one of the few here that supported Mike Huckabee for example. It is the fact that he is the type of person that would sell his mother.

In my business, I encounter many successful Asian businessmen--who are almost universally liberal democrats. Yes, they get that Dems want to tax them and regulate their businesses, but they associate Reps with immigration hassles, bigotry (unfairly but, as the article notes, true)and they come from cultures with big governments. They don´t see a problem with big government.

Same with Hispanics, I suspect. For all the drivel we read about how Hispanics are natural Reps, we forget that in their own countries, they keep electing dictator types.

So true,Asians will vote Mao,Mugabe,PolPot,Ho Chi Minh,Marcos if they have a D after their name.Filipinos...majority Catholics voted Democrat...inspite of abortion,Obamacare attacks on religious healthcare institutions.

Thank link you for the links at #2 OP. Social issues should be state concerns. The anger against Roe v Wade stemmed from the fact the issue was taken away from the states. These are our allies. We need to emphasize freedom, free markets, free minds. We´ve allowed perception to become reality.

In Philadelphia and Pa most older Vietnamese immigrants are from the former South Vietnam and are Catholic, who vote Republican.

Younger 2nd generation Vietnamese, here [like other college grads] and increasingly immigrants [Buddhist] from the former North of the country vote D.

Most Chinese and ´Chinese - Vietnamese´ here are Ds, both earlier generations, and recent immigrants from these Communist Countries.

The first elected Asian Phila. City Councilman, is a Korean - American Republican.

Houston has a R City Councilman, and California has had numerous R Vietnamese elected officials, State Assembly members. and local City and county officials. The first Vietnamese US Congressman, from Louisiana was a Republican.

In 2008 the Obama campaign was very successful in parlaying his ´Hawaiian Asian - Pacific origins´ into overwhelming support over Clinton in the D primary here.[among Chinese, Chinese - Vietnamese, and Filipino voters].
