ObamaCare Faces the
Implementation Iceberg

Real Clear Politics, by Paul Howard and Stephen Parente

Defenders of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare, can be forgiven for some post-election triumphalism. But their joy is likely to be short lived. Because the law put off implementation of most key provisions until after the 2012 election, voters cast their ballots on November 6 without knowing what Obamacare’s true effect will be on their tax bills, insurance costs, or access to care. Delaying implementation until 2014 helped the president win re-election, but now the bill is coming due. The administration can’t forestall Obamacare’s massive regulatory impact

My guess is they´re trying to come up with language to exclude as many Obama voters as possible, without being flagrant about it.

This "plan" is no different than the way government works overall. Too many people in the wagon and too few pulling it.

This community rating thing is scary.Who knows what standards will be applied.

When the Obamacare Health Exchange is implemented in your state, apply Alinsky Rule #4, "Make the enemy live up to their own book of rules."

Pick a picayune detail about a topic, become an expert, then repeatedly contact the exchange to ask questions. Tie up the agents as long as possible, rinse, repeat.

This article doesn´t even have the right information. My state is not one of the six cited that are not taking the Medicaid expansion but it is also not taking the Medicaid expansion. Wonder how many other states are being ignored by the MSM media to not show what a complete disaster Obamacare is?

Russian Troops Mass

MOSCOW — With a referendum on secession looming in Crimea, Russia massed troops and armored vehicles in at least three regions along Ukraine’s eastern border on Thursday, alarming the interim Ukraine government about a possible invasion and significantly escalating tensions in the crisis between the Kremlin and the West. The announcement of the troop buildup by Russia’s Defense Ministry was met with an unusually sharp rebuke from Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany, who warned that the Russian government must abandon what she called the politics of the 19th and 20th centuries or face diplomatic and economic retaliation from a

Republicans won a nice victory in the Florida special congressional election yesterday, which the more gullible and/or excitable pundits are already overhyping. But via e-mail today, I received a reminder that Democrats should be rooting for an audience of two to be similarly over-interpreting the results: Supreme Court Justices Stephen Breyer and Ruth Bader Ginsburg. If the justices previously believed it a safe bet that they would be replaced by mainstream liberal justices when they retire, perhaps now they´ll realize their only reasonable course of action is to retire this spring, pending confirmed replacements. What Ginsburg and Breyer want, of

Amazon claims that a $79 annual membership for Amazon Prime provides free two-day shipping on "millions" of items, but for some products, the company is accused of encouraging sellers to inflate shipping prices, according to two recent lawsuits. (Snip) In what she hopes will be certified as a class-action lawsuit, Burke accuses Amazon of encouraging third-party vendors to include in the price of their items the amount they would have charged for shipping in their items to maximize revenue and profit margins. SAN FRANCISCO – Nearly 150 firefighters tackled a five-alarm blaze that burned at a building under construction in San Francisco’s Mission Bay neighborhood Tuesday evening. BRE Properties, which focuses on development, acquisition and management of apartment communities in California and Seattle, said the fire occurred at Block 5 of its MB360 development project, located on the west side of Fourth Street between China Basin and Mission Rock streets near AT&T Park. The fire, which was reported at 4:56 p.m., prompted the evacuation of nearby buildings, including the Strata at Mission Bay apartments. A woman who lives in an apartment directly

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — More than four days after a Malaysian jetliner went missing en route to Beijing, authorities acknowledged Wednesday they didn´t know which direction the plane carrying 239 passengers was heading when it disappeared, vastly complicating efforts to find it. Amid intensifying confusion and occasionally contradictory statements, the country´s civil aviation authorities and the military both said the plane may have turned back from its last known position between Malaysian and Vietnam, possibly as far as the Strait of Malacca, a busy shipping lane on the western side of Malaysia. A man whose $50,000 coin collection was first stolen, then hocked, cannot recover it from Las Vegas´ famous "Pawn Stars" pawn shop. Reason: The hock shop claims it melted the coins down. According to a criminal complaint filed by the State of Nevada in Clark County Justice Court, a coin collection valued by its owner, David Walters, at up to $50,000, was stolen from Walters´ Las Vegas home in November 2013 by Walters´ niece, Jennifer Beckman. Court documents say Walters´ collection--kept in a bag hidden under a dresser--contained such rarities as a 1903 St. Gaudens $20 gold piece and Silver

Republicans scored a significant victory in a special congressional election Tuesday, holding on to a seat in a swing district in Florida that Democrats had high hopes of capturing after a campaign that focused heavily on President Obama´s healthcare law. That´s bad news for Democrats and probably will set off a new round of nervousness among party strategists and office holders as they look ahead to the fall. General Motors Co.´s (GM) recall of 1.6 million vehicles could prove to be one of the most costly in automotive history. The company not only faces fines. The legal liability triggered by what could be thousands of personal injury lawsuits may be just as damaging to the reputation of GM´s important brands, which almost certainly will erode sales. At the heart of the injury to GM is the accusation that some of its employees knew about an ignition switch fault as early as 2004. How would you feel if a police officer you knew for 20 years told you that if an order were issued to confiscate your guns, he wouldn’t hesitate to “kick your door in”? This was the precisely the experience Connecticut resident, Navy veteran and former firefighter John Cinque had after commenting on his state’s 2013 violation of the Second Amendment. The law in question criminalizes the sale of magazines holding more than 10 rounds and also certain semi-automatic rifles, and mandates that all grandfathered weapons and magazines must be registered with the state. Oversight member Rep. Jim Jordan told The Daily Caller that the committee is “moving” toward holding Lerner in contempt of Congress to compel her to testify. “I think that’s where we’re moving,” Jordan said. “I think that’s where this is headed.”
