What about Russia supplying Germany with raw materials between 1939 and 1941? Stalins purges, the starvation of the Ukraine, etc. Roosevelt was bamboozled and gave away Eastern Europe. I´m not sure the parents of the kids who signed up after 9/11 would agree with that, #4. I personally know young men and woman who joined the military shortly there after and their younger siblings who have continued to join since.

The officers and senior NCO´s in Vietnam were not the embodiment of Brokaw´s
" Greatest Generation", which included millions of non-career persons who were drafted or volunteered to defend our country in WWII.
This is not necessarily to agree with the writer´s " arrogant" premise even as to the career military. Those people - (I was one, Southeast Asia, 1968-69) and didn´t see much arrogance, if any. I was scared shirtless my entire time there.
The net result is that you can kiss off Stone´s entire line.

J. David Kuo, an evangelical Christian conservative and former top official of President George W. Bush’s faith-based initiative who drew wide attention when he publicly accused the administration of failing to live up to the values it espoused, died April 5 in Charlotte. He was 44.He was diagnosed a decade ago with brain cancer, his wife, Kimberly, said. The arc of Mr. Kuo’s life and career had taken him from liberal to conservative, from hard-edged Republican activism in the 1990s to disillusionment with the idea that politics could serve as an extension of his faith.

Like most of you, I yearn for shorter winters, more shirt-sleeve weather, less lashing from frigid winds. As a confirmed New Yorker, I’m not willing to do what millions have done: move to the sunbelt. I want warmer weather here in the Big City.But I’ve grown old waiting for the promised global warming. I was 35 when predictions of a looming ice age were supplanted by warmmongering. Now I’m 68, and there’s still no sign of warmer weather. It’s enough to make one doubt the “settled science” of the government-funded doom-sayers.

In a measure of solidarity with those affected by the budget-slashing government sequestration, President Obama is giving up 5 percent of his salary for rest of the year, which is almost as admirable and sensible as a mansion-owner shutting off his marble fountains during a drought.This is not to imply that the president shouldn´t demonstrate some unity with those who´ve been furloughed or lost work because of the blind slashing the sequestration prompted. MTV’s “Buckwild” has its first cast death. Shain Gandee was among three men found dead in a vehicle Monday in the Sissonville area of West Virginia — about 31 hours after he and his uncle, David, had been reported missing. David, 48, and Shain, 21, told people they were going four-wheeling in Shain’s 1984 Ford Bronco, at about 3 a.m. Sunday at Larry’s Bar in Sissonville, the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department reported Monday morning. The third man found dead in the vehicle who has not yet been identified, according to press reports.

North Korea’s young leader Kim Jong-un is waiting for United States President Barack Obama to make a phone call to Pyongyang to discuss easing tensions on the Korean peninsula, according to Russia’s news agency Itar-Tass. Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”
