It’s time to rebuild America
Washington Post, by Rahm Emanuel

Original Article

Too much post-election analysis has focused on voter demographics and campaign mechanics, leaving Democrats in danger of drawing the wrong lessons from our electoral success. Demographics alone are not destiny. There is nothing in this year’s election returns that guarantees Democrats a permanent majority in the years to come. President Obama and the Democratic Party earned the support of key groups — young people, single women, Latinos, African Americans, auto workers in the Rust Belt and millions of other middle-class Americans — because of our ideas. But we cannot expect Republicans to cede the economic argument so readily,

What an insulting joke from Obama´s own ´Mini Me´. The ethnomarxist template they have in mind for a new world created by them (I thought the Obamessiah created the world the first time, though?) is contrary to everything that is essentially and uniquely American. And disconnecting success from effort and merit is simply unjust.

If these Alinskian idealists think they´re going to jam their ethnomarxist vision of a new America down our throats, we´ll turn around and Rahm it up their tailpipes. A Leftist drive for a New America will either fail right away or touch of a New American Revolution.

Well, he´d correctly triangulated that they´ve got the most out of identity politics that they´re going to get given the coming end of the perfect tool for that - Obama and that the issue for 2016 will be if there is an economy to take credit for and, if not, can he be considered to fix it.

Emanuel has a chance and the GOP should be paying attention so it will, you know, have a communication strategy other than "Not Obama." I just don´t have the stomach to even read what he´s got to say.

Before I read the article I had the same reaction as all of the posters here. Then I read the article and realized we conservatives are in big, deep trouble.

I was reacting to what I know of Rahm Emanuel and the Dems.

But the article sounds great and people will (and have) swallow(ed) it hook, line and sinker. They believe what they read without thinking critically about it, or seeing what is unwritten.

The real dilemma is how do we combat the very compelling message of the article, not just react to the messenger. If we can´t figure that out, we really are sunk.

Reading that produced a good laugh. But allow me to translate the message. His buddy just got re-elected Chief Deck Chair Arranger on the Titanic. He knows Democrats can´t continue to blame Republicans for everything that goes wrong. At most he can only claim to want good things for his city and country.

There is only one problem. This country cannot hope to raise taxes and/or cut spending enough to prevent the economic Armageddon that is in our future. I predict we will reach this Armageddon before we reach the mid-term elections. Obama won the popularity contest but he just inherited a future filled with chaos.

Remember there´s another election in 2 years for 30+ Senators and the entire House.

Republicans need to focus on 1 item - fiscal responsibility.

The House has proposed and voted on a budget, now they should wait for the Senate Democrats and Obama to propose theirs.

THEN, start to negotiate.

Put the onous onto the Democrats who pushed everything until after the election, which is now.

Give the Dems those top 2 tax bracket increases.
Forget about trying to close loopholes and saving the Democrats from themselves and making hard choices.

The EPA attacks on Coal, oil and natural gasoline? They affect local communities, counties and state tax revenues - USE that against the Democrats.

The article is filled with unsupported claims and Democrat Party jibberish. It is heartening to know that Chicago has relied on the private sector to fix all the problems in the Chicago schools. Now all the children attend school, learn to read and develop critical thinking skills, and actually graduate. Wow! It is hard to believe.

Rahm must be a true wizard cut from the mold of Barack Obama. How did we ever get by without these two Bobbsey twins to show us the way?

The only way Obama, and Emmanuel, can make this deal work is to have major tax increases. Spending will never go down. So we must expect to return to the days of a 70% marginal tax rate for individuals and trusts, 48% for corporations, without the tax laws in effect before 1981.

The big step will come when Obama decides to integrate Social Security with private retirement plans and investments. This means people with IRAs, 401(k) plans, company retirement plans, plus private wealth will see their Social Security reduced or eliminated. Just wait awhile. The day will come.

Rebuild America? With what? And what is the plan that outlines how this rebuilding is supposed to proceed?

The only proctical way to achieve Rahm Emanuel´s vision is to isolate large numbers of "undesirables" either into some kind of internal exile, keeping them away from the serious business of transformation of what was once "America" into something else, or to round them up in preparation for a more "permanent" solution.

It worked for Stalin and Pol Pot, and in large part, for the early years of Mao.

It can´t happen here? Well, pretty much unchecked at the moment, it IS happening here.

Lets see, it would seem that the places run by democrats are the places that have the biggest problems, just look at New York and the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, they still don´t seem to have it figured out. The cities of Detroit, having to bulldoze their blighted areas and other places that have problems. The places run by republicans seem to get their act together and clean things up, just look at the middle of the country, the area that most leftists just fly over, when there are floods, the waters recede and things get cleaned up, tornados same thing, people clean them up. But Rahm Emanuel saying it´s time to rebuild America, give me a break, he couldn´t rebuild with instructions.

The only reason Rahm Emanuel´s Chicago hasn´t turned into a more homicide-riddled version of Detroit is that Obama´s most economically destructive policies -- ObamaCare and raising taxes on the wealthy -- haven´t gone into effect yet.

Unlike many Republican governors who have stated they will not comply with ObamaCare´s expensive mandate rules, Illinois´ Democratic governor is expected to go full speed ahead with allowing Illinois businesses to be crushed by ObamaCare. How will Chicago fare with its businesses leaving even more urgently than usual for greener pastures?

Actually, she is backing off. Here’s the thing about her now-famous MSNBC promo: Either she’s saying something radical or she’s saying something so banal that it’s barely even worth saying. The radical interpretation is that she thinks parents should have less say over how their children are raised and that “communities” should have a larger role. The very, very banal interpretation is that she thinks communities should do more to improve children’s lives and that thinking of them as “our children” might help forge that mentality. The money line in the promo that pointed to the radical interpretation

Hagel said the Pentagon´s top lawyers would prepare legislation for Congress that would strip commanders´ power to toss out convictions, "except for certain minor offenses that would not ordinarily warrant trial by court-martial." Convicted defendants still would be able to appeal their cases. But in a move berated by advocacy groups for military sexual-assault victims, Hagel also said he would recommend commanders retain the power to alter courts-martial sentences,

If an election between Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama were held today, 58% would vote for Reagan over Obama, according to a survey of 1,000 Americans age 18 and older conducted by Kelton Research for the National Geographic Channel. Though when the field is narrowed to people ages 18-34 -- those either too young to have known Reagan as president or too young to remember much -- the gap shrinks to 51% in favor of Reagan.

However, any deal could be derailed by the looming threat of a Republican filibuster involving Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. With Cruz standing proudly in the way of any gun legislation, Democrats are trying to make him pay a political price — and even a couple of high-profile Republicans are questioning his tactics.

Born Oct. 13, 1925, she was the daughter of a grocer in the Lincolnshire town of Grantham. Alfred Roberts was no ordinary shopkeeper.
