| Walmart had its fair share of disasters on Black Friday last year. A screaming mob fought over a $2 waffle iron, a woman allegedly pepper sprayed a crowd so she could get an Xbox and people were sent to the hospital after being slammed to the ground in a tussle over smartphones. This year, Walmart employed a brilliant tactic for controlling the crowds. The retailer staggered promotions to prevent another stampede. Walmart opened doors at 8 p.m., allowing shoppers to get into the store. Those interested in the toys, clothes or kitchen appliances on sale bought them.

My 18yos and his girlfriend chose to brave the line at Best Buy for a $179 40 inch flatscreen. They were ready in line and up front, going to get it, when a Mexican family cut in the front of the line and each of them got a TV. Yet there were no fights, everyone helped each other out and waited (except for that one family)

We took our neighbor to Walmart last night, as her tv broke and she needed a new one. I guess that staggering business really didn´t work out so well, as there were big crowds and really long lines. And when they started selling items on sale (not enough stock, so they gave out coupons), there were long checkout lines, and I do mean long. After we got out of the store, my neighbor said "Never again!"would she attend one of those type sales. The money you save isn´t worth the time and aggravation.

I´m with other LDotters. Even if everything was free it wouldn´t be worth it to me. I´ll either shop online or not at all.

The media churns up the feeble minds of these lemmings, just like they do with the badly flawed election cycles.

we were at WMT last night to get the $147 (guaranteed) tv..
they said they had 65 of them - and then they would hand out a coupon for the rest, which had to be paid for at checkout and then you´d get the tv by Christmas.. ok.. nothing else to do, so stood in the line and although we were probably number 100 WE ACTUALLY GOT A TV..
then we looked at how to check out.. it was about a THREE HOUR WAIT..
i went back to the line which had just started to hand out the vouchers and gave the tv to a nice young family..
all that to save $40???

The teenage son of a friend of mine went to Walmart last night to try and buy a DVD set for his sister...he waited in line and just as he was about to get the DVDs some thug threw him to the ground by his throat and scratched his neck up just to get to the DVDs before he did. Police were too busy guarding the TVs and big-ticket items to notice.

Secretary of State John Kerry is worth some $200 million, give or take a yacht. So his decision to slap a 5% pay cut on himself in solidarity with government employees squeezed by sequestration won’t likely hurt him much. But he’s saving taxpayers another way, too — if unintentionally. And it’s downright troubling. How else is Kerry saving money? He’s failing to hire folks to fill key spots at his agency. Terrific. In March, the number of Americans who dropped out of the labor force increased by 663,000 which adds up to a record 90 million Americans who are no longer looking for employment. Zero Hedge reported: This was the biggest monthly increase in people dropping out of the labor force since January 2012, when the BLS did its census recast of the labor numbers. It would take superspin powers to portray the March jobs report as anything other than a huge step in the wrong direction. The US economy added just 88,000 jobs last month, 95,000 in the private sector as public payrolls fell by 7,000. The official unemployment rate ticked down a tenth of a point to 7.6%. 1. That is a paltry number of jobs, more or less matching assumed labor force growth per month. So the economy must add at least that many jobs just to keep the labor market at current depressed levels.

DENVER -- One of two members of a white supremacist gang linked to the killing of Colorado´s prisons chief has been arrested just miles from where the state official was shot to death answering the door to his home. James Lohr was taken into custody early Friday, said El Paso County sheriff´s spokesman Jeff Kramer. Lohr was wanted for questioning in the killing of Colorado Corrections Director Tom Clements. It´s unclear if Lohr has been charged. Authorities believe Lohr was in contact with gang associate Evan Ebel days before the slayings of Clements and pizza delivery man Nate Leon.

The unemployment rate, because of a terrible statistic, is down to 7.6%. The number of people in this country who are not working is shameful. Ninety million Americans are no longer in the workforce. Ninety million. People not in the labor force grew by 663,000, and now 90 million. That´s the labor force participation rate. This is 1979 levels.
