After giving Obama the pressed-hands greeting usually reserved for servants, she told him to hurry up and get the tray of drinks for the other guests.

How arrogant our State Department is, back in the day our traveling dignitaries would be briefed on customs and cultures of the places they would be traveling to. What do these people do now to justify their salaries and the air they breathe?

This is a subtle variation of the Sampeah. As it is explained elsewhere, the hands closeness to the face and the deeper the bow, the more respect is shown. It is similar to the Thai Wai. In the picture, Bun Rany´s hands are at chest level and the bow is almost non-existent. As someone else so eloquently put it, like they were greeting a servant. Just the barest of effort put into it.

I am very fortunate to have made friends in the Thai community. They give a Wai with hands right on their forehead and bows that are very low even to me, so the disrespect shown here is very obvious. Like they were all laughing at this "Kuhn" Obama, as it is spoken in Thai. (That is spelled a little differently in the United States.)

He does that stupid hands pressed thing whenever he greets anyone from a culture he believes uses it. So now we know how it is perceived in some cultures. Best to stick with your own - whatever that is. At home with wifey it is high fives and fist bumps.

#21 the shirts they´re wearing look similar to the ones worn by people in/from the Philippines on formal occasions. I think a shirt like that is called a "barong". It´s worn outside one´s regular clothes, like a suit coat (but much more lightweight and often features some fancy stitching).

Isn´t the way Obama eyed the Thai PM and leaned in toward the Cambodian first lady (see pic 3 in the story) considered a rudely forward gesture in their culture? Can´t blame all the leaders there for having some disrespect for Bonehead Barry if that is, indeed, the case.

Potus and his gal haven´t got the hint that in certain cultures that it frowned on to phsically touch people no matter what the occasion happens to be. They better get Etiquetted by that special dept in State Department. For example, in Japan, even at a high level meeting, gathered around a table, it is considered "insulting" for one to stand up for one to make their points or comments to the group. You may not be invited back again. IMHO opinion, BHO will not be invited back.

Zippy looks far happier visiting Asia than living in our country; perhaps we should encourage him to stay there.

I find the body language of the Sultan of Brunei - the richest man in the world - very interesting indeed. And very revealing.

In photo #2, the first with these two, Barcky is leaning way over him, towering almost, and the Sultan is turned slightly as if to fleck off the pest on his shoulder.

In the next photo of these two, the 4th, the Sultan is turned to gawk at the fool cackling beside him, while the other men look solemn and respectful and serious to be at their summit conference.

And do I notice the baby powder back in Barcky´s hair?

Also, I have to comment on the sempeah issue: It is quite possible that Barcky greeted HER that way first, and she is merely reciprocating.

And the final photo, before the video, only Barcky is waving at the camera, again, like the narcissistic fool he is.

I read that the hands are supposed to be exactly together as well. Her hands are not aligned properly. To Westerners, this might not seem like that big of a deal, but the instructional video I watched made much of doing this traditional greeting absolutely right, according to cultural traditions.

On his ´historic´ visit to chicom in 72, he was outrageously insulted on the tarmac when Mao sent an underling to great him at the air field. During the pitifully meager welcoming ceremony the messenger, in a bare-minimum acknowledgement of any visitor, gulped his rice wine before Nixon could get the cup to his lips. (He is supposed to wait for his guest to sip first in a proper "gambei.") This is extrememly bad form and should have led to an international incident. But alas, Nixon blundered through the facade totally naive to the message and America´s international standing was once again made to suffer through unaccountable ignorance.

Most of America didn´t realize what happened that day on the runway either. I happen to know because I was a Chinese language linguist for the Navy in the far east until 1969.

The last point here is no one in that area of the world likes a foriegn fool to come into their country and flirt with female heads of state. A Buffoon.

He is a con artist of limited ability, and only has succeeded to be president twice because the media supports him and does not report his stupidity and gaffes to the American people.

She could have said to him in Cambodian that his breath smelled of liquor, his old lady looks like a mountain gorilla and he that lies on his golf score card, and he would have said thank you very much!
