A photo of a Massachusetts woman flashing her middle finger at Arlington National Cemetery has sparked widespread disgust across the web and prompted an online petition to get the woman fired from her job. Lindsey Stone posted the picture of herself making the obscene gesture at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, next to a sign at the military cemetery that asks for ´Silence and Respect,´ in October and the snapshot quickly went viral. FTA "...it was just a spur of the moment total lapse of judgment. She´s very sorry that she offended anybody,´ according to her father. Yeah, it was just a "spur of the moment" thing when she posted it on Facebook, too? No, she knew what she was doing, and the disrespect was her intention. She showed us what she thought of those of us who fought for her freedom to do it. If she continues to work there at Life, then a large number of vets will cross that place off their list.

All of us do stupid things on occasion. But it takes a really classless idiot to compound the stupidity by posting it on Facebook. I didn´t see her age in the article, but I certainly hope her emotional maturity catches up before she does too much damage.

Disgusting slob. Yes, it has the right to do what it did Because of the dead she insulted. It also was a slap to every family member of those who died so it could be disrespectful. It would be ´wrong´ but , oh so satisfying to have someone slap it to the ground and walk away whistling. ( ´it´ refers to what appears to be a ´her´ )

A good time to remember that actions have consequences. The actions of those buried at Arlington gave the woman that ability to "act stupidly". Her action may lead to losing the job. Losing her job may improve her behavior in the future.

Oh, #7, because, " that´s what the left does, you don´t want to do it." Great. They´ve been kicking our asses for over 40 years in their Long March. Yeah, let´s stay on the high road and lose our freedoms with style and class. I say bullcrap. I´m sick of it. It´s time we adopt some of their weapons to win this war. Step on their necks at every turn and don´t let up. There, I feel better.

What you see here is an attack on society, not an attack on what society has to say. Freedom of speech was intended to protect dissident speech, not anti-social, juvenile speech simply intended to break down the social bonds of civilization. There is a difference, and it´s time for the law to catch up.

This is an area where people really misunderstand the Constitution. The Constitution deals with the relationship between the Government and the People. It does not regulate the relationship between people. The Government can not stop your free speech and people can not use "state action" to stop your free speech; but people are absolutely free to argue that free speech is commercially bad for business or bad for charities.

I agree with #12. For every 1st Amendment action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. For too long, its like we have been playing a game of tiddlywinks with the Progressives. The problem is, they aren´t playing tiddlywinks, they are in a boxing match with us and they use different rules in their game. Whenever one on our side doesn´t follow our rules and plays by their boxing match rules, they scream and we scream foul. Its time we quit playing tiddlywinks with them and get into the boxing ring, take the gloves off and wait for the bell.

Frankly, I don´t see it as that big a deal... a playful mug for the camera and an ill advised (i.e. stupid) post. People tend forget that Facebook is not as private as a photo album on the coffee table. I saw it as mocking the sign´s admonition, not mocking the reverence of the cemetery. It is ridiculous that such a sign is necessary.
In short, I saw it as a brief encounter with a poor attempt at humor, not intended as a message of disrespect toward those fallen. She said she was sorry. I believe she is sincere in that apology.

OK #36, consider this.
I, as a white male, do the exact same thing, EXACTLY, that this woman did.....
at a memorial area for Martin Luther King Jr.
I would be immediately fired no matter where I worked, and if the company paused even briefly, busloads of people would descent and picket the business.
Every talk show would be running the story non-stop, it would obscure even the Obama news.
Guaranteed.
But for fallen soldiers...of all colors...its no big deal.
I am curious, what exactly IS a big deal to you?

The murder trial of abortionist Kermit Gosnell largely is being ignored by the mainstream media, even in the face of grisly testimony, such as what we heard yesterday. Life News reports: ...a former employee described how she heard a baby scream during a live-birth abortion. Abortion clinic employee Sherry West described an incident which "really freaked (her) out" and related to the jury how she heard a child who was born alive following an abortion scream.

HARTFORD, Conn. -- With time running out on the chance to pass gun control legislation, President Barack Obama on Monday warned Congress not to use delaying tactics against tighter regulations and told families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims that he´s "determined as ever" to honor their children with tougher laws. Obama´s gun control proposals have run into resistance on Capitol Hill, leaving their fate in doubt. Efforts by Senate Democrats to reach compromise with Republicans over expanding required federal background checks have yet to yield an agreement, and conservatives were promising to try

Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

There was growing buzz over the weekend that a bipartisan agreement on gun control — a deal that would expand background checks — could hit the floor as early as this week. However, any deal could be derailed by the looming threat of a Republican filibuster involving Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. With Cruz standing proudly in the way of any gun legislation, Democrats are trying to make him pay a political price — and even a couple of high-profile Republicans are questioning his tactics.

The case of a same-sex Connecticut couple accused of repeatedly raping and abusing two of their nine adopted boys is headed for trial. Married couple George Harasz and Douglas Wirth of Glastonbury were supposed to be sentenced Friday in Hartford Superior Court under a plea deal, but instead withdrew from their agreement with prosecutors. The men had already pleaded no contest in January to one felony count each of risk of injury to a minor — a reduction from even more serious charges related to sexual assault....
