A photo of a Massachusetts woman flashing her middle finger at Arlington National Cemetery has sparked widespread disgust across the web and prompted an online petition to get the woman fired from her job. Lindsey Stone posted the picture of herself making the obscene gesture at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, next to a sign at the military cemetery that asks for ´Silence and Respect,´ in October and the snapshot quickly went viral. An unidentified Facebook user created a page called ´Fire Lindsey Stone´ on Monday, alerting her employer to the outrageous behavior and garnering support to

A spur of the moment total lapse of judgment, there´s a photo over my fireplace of my step-son, killed in Iraq in 2006. He died so idiots like her could have a spur of the moment, total lapse of judgment.

Her lack of respect is not appreciated by those who have suffered through the ultimate sacrifice of a loved one.

Perhaps she should grow up! I´m not allowed to print what I really think.

Thousands of intentionally uncounted military ballots over the last few elections would disagree with anyone who would downplay this atrocity. The disrespect is institutional, whether it´s flipping the bird at a military cemetery, sacred ground, or disenfranchising those still living. They´re all the same. Domestic enemies.

Says her father!

Yea right, another stupid leftist excuse.

The bimbo works with disabled people and has no clue about Arlington? Gimme a break.

Unfortunately this is also partially an effect of not having a Draft and particularly of not having an Equal Rights Draft.

About time women are drafted into the military, before they attend college. It will give them ammunition to withstand the leftist professors who spew anti-Americanism 24/7.

This is the Obama Electorate. They hate America but flip out if you accuse them of it.

They have learned this hatred in the public school and university systems. People often leave college dumber than when they went in. And without even a modicum of social skills.

Sadly, she will not regret a thing about this. She will think that she´s been bullied.

Years ago when my six boys were young, they made a flag for school. I took a picture of them standing next to it while they saluted the military and posted it on facebook for Memorial Day. I can´t find the picture to post it again, but evidently it´s time to take another.

As a Korean and Vietnam veteran I would consider Kerry´s occupation of either post an ultimate disrespect to our armed forces.

I have a really good memory of my early years even though it has been 65 to 70 years ago. I remember the first big word I learned to spell. It was "America" and I have always reminded myself that "America" is my home and my country and that I have an obligation to respect my country. I don´t think I could ever misspell "America" or any of it´s derivatives, ever.

I find it shameful to read this piece. I find it shameful that a person who seems to disrespect this country so much has likely voted for another disrespectful person who has been our President for the last four years and has unbelievably been reelected to another four. I could imagine that he would not be able to spell "America" if asked. Like having a heart so black he would not be able to face the sunrise. A heart tainted by evil parents and an evil mentor. Not even growing up in "America".

What´s Lindsey Stone´s excuse?

Lindsey Stone is getting an education in three things: first, it is disrespectful in the extreme to mock America´s fallen soldiers ...or anyone in the military.
Second, she (and most likely her parents) has suddenly found out that the world exists beyond the bubble of her FB friends she thought would appreciate her "wit"--and that world, the real world, despises her disrespect.
Third, you post it, you own it. Forever.

What I thought was the oddest part of this story was the job she has. Call me naive, but I always thought people who worked with special needs people were a little more caring, overall.

Two stupid women, #4 -- the photographer apparently shared the "humor" of the gesture. An utterly lame explanation and an apology no doubt resulting from the realization that their conduct will likely cost them their jobs.

Freedom of speech does not insulate idiots from the consequences of their words or gestures -- The State won´t silence or punish them (theoretically, anyway), but the private citizenry may properly object and condemn.

Posting it on Facebook only compounds their boneheadedness. The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits.

WASHINGTON— Mayor Vincent Gray often calls the District of Columbia "the envy of the nation" for its robust economy and fast-growing population, but some say the local government he leads — plagued by corruption, pay-to-play politics and disengaged voters — is a stain on the city´s progress. The latest bruise to the city´s reputation involves Gray, who is under federal investigation. Prosecutors say he knew about a $668,000 campaign slush fund that helped him get elected in 2010, and while Gray has not been charged, five people involved with his campaign have been convicted. Michigan´s ban on gay marriage is unconstitutional, a federal judge said Friday, striking down a law that was widely embraced by voters a decade ago in the latest in a series of similar decisions across the country. But unlike cases in other states, U.S. District Judge Bernard Friedman did not suspend his decision while the Michigan attorney general pursues an appeal. That means clerks could start issuing licenses Monday unless a higher court intervenes. Friedman released his 31-page ruling exactly two weeks after a rare trial that mostly focused on the impact of same-sex parenting on children. The challenge was

An unwanted conversation about a Latino’s ability to speak English without an accent. This is not exactly the language of traditional racism, but in an avalanche of blogs, student discourse, campus theater and academic papers, they all reflect the murky terrain of the social justice word du jour — microaggressions — used to describe the subtle ways that racial, ethnic, gender and other stereotypes can play out painfully in an increasingly diverse culture. “Obamacare” as shorthand for the Affordcable Care Act was first used mostly by critics of the law, but now everyone’s using the moniker and President Obama has long since embraced it. But apparently no one told Nancy Pelosi, because she’s still ticked off at how much people talk about “Obamacare” instead of the “Affordable Care Act.” In response to a reporter asking a question about Obamacare being a political winner or loser, Pelosi said, “By the way, it’s called the Affordable Care Act. It’s called the Affordable Care Act. I know you didn’t intend any compliment or derogatory––it’s called the

Is Barack Obama simply too busy to be Chief Executive of the United States? Apparently. One of the primary functions of the president is to keep the nation safe, to preserve it from its enemies. To do that effectively, one would actually have to maintain something of a consistent level of attention to the moving pieces that directly influence how future events will unfold. None other than the truly sycophantic thinks for a second that President Obama cares a whit for anything that does not involve fundamentally altering the social composition of this country. Or golf. During the five-plus years

President Barack Obama said Wednesday that he thinks Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick “would make a great president or vice president.” Obama and Patrick, both Democrats, are friends and close political allies. The two men have campaigned for each other, with Patrick acting as a surrogate for Obama nationally during the 2012 presidential race. Patrick has said clearly that he intends to return to the private sector when his second term as governor is up at the end of the year and will not run for president in 2016. But he has not ruled out a run for office in the

Black students are more likely to be suspended from U.S. public schools — even as tiny preschoolers. The racial disparities in American education, from access to high-level classes and experienced teachers to discipline, were highlighted in a report released Friday by the Education Department´s civil rights arm. The suspensions — and disparities — begin at the earliest grades. Black children represent about 18 percent of children in preschool programs in schools, but they make up almost half of the preschoolers who are suspended more than once, the report said. Six percent of the nation´s districts with preschools reported suspending at

Ellen DeGeneres was a completely slavish toady to President Obama as he appeared on her show to sell Obamacare -- not to young people, but to mothers. The president made his pitch to "especially all the moms out there who may have young people – 26, 27, do not have health insurance, but they think they’re invincible and nothing’s ever going to happen to ‘em – what we’ve said is you never know what life is going to throw at ya."

College basketball can wait. Did you know that March is actually National Nutrition Month? Today, First Lady Michelle Obama urged Americans via her "Let´s Move!" initiative to challenge their family members to eat one new fruit or vegetable per week in March to faithfully observe the occasion. "March is National Nutrition Month and you can celebrate by challenging your family to try a new fruit or vegetable each week," First Lady Michelle Obama said in an e-mail to supporters today. Never mind that there were less than two "each weeks" left in National Nutrition Month when the e-mail challenge was

During her visit to China, first lady Michelle Obama pointed out that the ability to travel outside of the United States was "rare" but that she chose China for a reason. "It’s very rare that I have the opportunity to travel outside of the United States, and it’s even more rare to have the opportunity to travel with three generations — with my daughters, and with my mother," she said. "And it is no accident that one of our first trips as a family is here to China." Obama made her remarks while visiting a school in Beijing, with the Chinese first

Today’s Washington Post features an article by Steven Mufson and Juliet Eilperin headlined, “The biggest lease holder in Canada’s oil sands isn’t Exxon Mobil or Chevron. It’s the Koch brothers.” The article was based on a newly-issued two-page report by the far-left International Forum on Globalization. The Post reported: You might expect the biggest lease owner in Canada’s oil sands, or tar sands, to be one of the international oil giants, like Exxon Mobil or Royal Dutch Shell. But that isn’t the case. The biggest lease holder in the northern Alberta oil sands is a subsidiary of Koch Industries, the privately-owned

Michelle Obama arrived in China on Thursday for a weeklong visit that will steer clear of politics and instead focusing on education and community. [Snip] On Friday, she is to spend the day with Peng Liyuan, the wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, something which diplomats hope will build bridges between the two countries. ´I think this is a very good opportunity to improve the China-U.S. relations, as the first lady can represent the soft side of diplomacy,´ said Wang Dong, a political scientist at Peking University´s School of International Studies. ´Michelle Obama herself has been accomplished in areas such as
