Obama in Burma: ‘I cannot just impose my will on Congress, even though sometimes I wish I could’

| During a lengthy speech at the University of Yangon in Burma, President Obama signaled the important traits of American democracy, particularly his limited powers as president. “As President, I cannot just impose my will on Congress — the Congress of the United States — even though sometimes I wish I could,” he stated. “The legislative branch has its own powers and its own prerogatives, and so they check my power and balance my power.” Obama also mentioned his responsibilities as Commander-In-Chief of the United States Military were limited by civilians.
|
Comments: There he goes again. I guess he has forgotten all the times he has in fact imposed his will on Congress by using his malevolent agencies to do his dirty work and by using executive orders.

Allah forbid that you would MEET with them and like sit down and TALK to them and maybe negotiate a compromise. It´s called work. It is a requirement of a LEADER. A despot skips along issuing orders. A want to be despot wishes he could do that.

No, 0bama cannot impose his will on congress, but he does impose his will upon the American people with his horrid use of Executive Order. He does not believe in three branches of government which balance out; he is king, he makes the rules.

Congress is in fact a stand-in for the people of the district they represent. So what Obama is actually saying is that he wishes he could just impose his will on the American electorate like a true believer in the tyranny of absolute democracy. This is why he uses executive orders without hesitation whenever he can.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R.-Fla.), one of eight senators who have crafted legislation that would put illegal aliens on a path to U.S. citizenship, explained in a Senate floor speech yesterday that one of the reasons he wants to do this is that he believes illegal aliens are currently driving on U.S. roads without drivers licenses and auto insurance and his bill would encourage them to get licenses and buy insurance. Rubio explained that under his bill ilegal aliens who "have committed serious crimes" will be deported. However, the proposal will apparently not deem as a serious crime the habit

The FBI is looking for twelve Islamic sleeper cells linked to the Boston Marathon bombers. The Daily Mirror reported: The FBI was last night hunting a 12-strong terrorist “sleeper cell” linked to the Boston marathon bomb brothers. Police believe Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev were specially trained to carry out the devastating attack. More than 1,000 FBI agents were last night working to track down the cell and arrested a man and two women 60 miles from Boston in the hours before Dzhokhar’s dramatic capture after a bloody shootout on Friday.

The police chief of the Watertown police department shares amazing new details of the chase for the Boston bombings suspects from Thursday night into Friday evening: The police chief, Edward Deveau, describes how cops nearly apprehended the older suspect, and were placing handcuffs on him in the middle of the street Thursday night, when the younger suspect came at officers in a carjacked SUV. The cops were able "to dive out of the way," and the younger suspect then continued to drive directly over his brother and dragging him through the street. That´s how the older suspect died,

Well, I guess – in this case – we should thank some Illinois Democrats that turned against the more anti-gun of their own party. Mike Flynn at Breitbart wrote on April 18 that a good proportion of them “revolted” against Speaker of the House, Michael Madigan, whose restrictions within a bill on concealed carry firearms proved to be too much for some. Illinois is currently the only state in the country which doesn’t allow its citizens to have a concealed-carry gun permit. In December 2012, a federal appeals court struck down

When the Gang of Eight was crafting its comprehensive immigration reform proposal — but before the bill was actually released — pro-reform Republicans on Capitol Hill often pointed to the various triggers they said would ensure the bill’s border-security directives are actually carried out. One key trigger, they claimed, was the creation and empowerment of something called the Southern Border Security Commission. If within five years after the passage of the bill, the Secretary of Homeland Security has failed to increase border security to a level in which 100 percent of the border is under

In his statement after the capture of Boston bomber number two, a serene President Barack Obama cautioned against making a "rush to judgment" about the motives of the terrorist killers: One thing we do know is that whatever hateful agenda drove these men to such heinous acts will not — cannot — prevail. Whatever they thought they could ultimately achieve, they’ve already failed. They failed because the people of Boston refused to be intimidated. They failed because, as Americans, we refused to be terrorized. They failed because we will not waver from the character and the compassion

Many are wondering why the FBI overlooked the potential danger posed by now-deceased bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev in 2011 after they interviewed him. According to reports, the bureau failed to find any incriminating evidence of terrorist ties. As first reported by CBS News correspondent Bob Orr, the FBI interviewed Tsarnaev, the elder brother of at-large bombing suspect Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev, at the request of a foreign government to see if he had any extremist ties, but failed to find any linkage. Both Tsarnaev brothers were legal permanent residents of the

BOSTON - The U.S. Federal Public Defender Office in Boston is seeking to be appointed to represent Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings. The office commonly defends individuals who cannot afford their own attorneys in criminal cases. An official there, Charles McGinty, said its attorneys have not spoken to Tsarnaev and will have to be appointed to represent him by a federal judge. "That´s why we´re trying to advance the appointment to be as soon as possible," he said. The 19-year-old suspect was captured Friday night and remains hospitalized under guard in Boston.

And now, what’s going to happen to us without barbarians? They were, those people, a kind of solution. How many times in the last century have these concluding lines of C.?P. Cavafy’s famous 1898 poem, “Waiting for the Barbarians,” been quoted? How many modern intellectuals have pondered the subversive implications of that sophisticated question? It’s an interesting question. But it turned out to be a hypothetical one. The 20th century didn’t lack for barbarians. Indeed, modern barbarism proved more dangerous than the old-fashioned kind. As Churchill put it in his great House of Commons speech

Federal law enforcement officials are actively investigating the possibility that the Boston bombers were known to the government’s terror-trackers, MailOnline understands. Any inquiry into the marathon bombing will look into whether agents could have taken action – but didn’t – to prevent the Tsarnaev brothers from obtaining the explosives that killed 3 and wounded 173 others. CBS News reported Friday evening that two years ago, the FBI interviewed the elder brother Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, who was killed in Thursday night´s dramatic shootout. The feds reportedly spoke to him at the request of an unspecified foreign government, but couldn´t

So once again, no good deed goes unpunished. Uncle Sam lets another bunch of leeching future terrorists into the country who have absolutely no business being here, gives them “asylum,” making them immediately eligible for welfare, and this is the thanks we get? They turn into mass murderers. We bring in thousands of Muslims from a primitive society that has been battling Christians for centuries, and put them into a peaceful Christian society — what could possible go wrong? This is what I was thinking about yesterday, with much of the city under what amounted to martial law.

WASHINGTON — New York Democratic Sen. As the hearing was happening, the Boston metropolitan area was on lockdown, as police attempted to

We are still speculating about virtually everything right now, but I feel as though I need to explain why I find the quick and easy conversation about Muslims being radicalized in America to be so illogical and laced with bigotry. Of course, there is a global violent jihadist movement, loosely organized, that wants to recruit young men to influence policies at home and abroad and perhaps usher in the global caliphate. That ideology motivates some Muslims to kill innocent people. But you´re allowed to be a radical Muslim in America.

The terrorist attack in Boston and evolving events indicate we have a domestic radical Islamic terror problem in America,” he wrote. “No more excuses. No more apologies. We are in a war of ideological wills and we shall prevail.”
