Egyptians condemn Israeli attacks
on Gaza, but most don’t want to
go to war over them

Washington Post, by Michael Birnbaum

Cario - For 30 years, Egyptians simmered with anger toward Israel, frustrated that their longtime leader Hosni Mubarak wasn’t aggressive enough toward their hated neighbor. But under Mubarak’s successor, few in Egypt seem to be spoiling for a fight. Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, who is aligned with the Muslim Brotherhood, has condemned Israel’s offensive in the Gaza Strip in recent days, and he has sent high-level delegations in support of Hamas, the hard-line Islamist group that rules Gaza and that Israel considers a terrorist organization. But Morsi has sought peace, not war,

Comments:
What? The much ´´feared´´ Muslim Brotherhood doesn´t want to join its friends at Hamas in fighting the Jews? All one has to do is read their [Arab] version of this conflict and its all about the Israelis targeting civilians, especially children. We know that all these terrorist are cowards because they always try to cover their face when waving their weapons for a photo op and never go out in ´´uniform.´´

Egypt is facing the fact the conditions aren´t right for a massive ground invasion plus he´s an Obama puppet who will stay in line for get foreign aid.None of these arab spring countries have the organizational skill to pull off a war without thousand of them being killed themselves. Nobody wants to be first in line in a ground invasion, good ole self preservation takes over.

Morsi is also trying to create an image of a legitimate leader around the world.

If Egypt invaded Israel,Obama would get the blame for putting him in power.

The Islamists will just have to go back and wait out Iran getting the nuke.Even then, there´s no such thing as a surgical nuke.Nuclear clouds drift where you don´t want them to.

I know these people are foreigners and like that, but has it occurred to them that Hamas attcked Israel to start all of this?

No one wants Egypt to attack, even Hamas. Israel would retake the Sinai and shut off all the smuggling routes into Gaza. The Egyptian army would be humiliated. The chances of a coup against Morsi by even crazier elements would rise. All the salafist militants who use the Sinai as a staging area would get cleaned out. This is one on one, Israel v. Hamas.

Why is it that Israel is always attacking somebody willy nilly? No one ever lobs missiles into their country, everyone surrounding Israel loves them to death, practically.

If the war started now, the arabs would only be able to field about a fifth of what they did last time. And they lost last time.

Good idea. That would be the end of the Egyptian government.

Israel:

Starting at the Northern Border of Gaza, begin leveling it, block by block. Drive the gazans southwards, block by block, and through the gaza/Egyptian border. Then, re-establish the border. Let Egypt, feed, clothe and tolerate the former-gazans/New Egyptians.

Problem solved.

Think about the West Bank and Jordan.

To retirees, the offers can sound like the answer to every money worry: convert tomorrow’s pension checks into today’s hard cash. But these offers, known as pension advances, are having devastating financial consequences for a growing number of older Americans, threatening their retirement savings and plunging them further into debt. The advances, federal and state authorities say, are not advances at all, but carefully disguised loans that require borrowers to sign over all or part of their monthly pension checks. They carry interest rates that are often many times higher than those on credit

Nashville, Tenn. - When federal agents descended on the Knoxville headquarters of Pilot Flying J on April 15, it was the first inkling the public and company executives had of an FBI and Internal Revenue Service investigation that began nearly two years ago. After the country´s largest diesel retailer sought to downplay the probe, federal officials took the unusual step of unsealing an affidavit that helped authorize the raid before any charges have been filed. The sworn statement recounts internal Pilot conversations that led investigators to conclude there was a widespread scheme to defraud trucking

Istanbul - Syria´s neighbors, wary of stirring a conflict that could spill back over their borders, would be reluctant partners in a U.S.-led intervention but are ultimately likely to support limited military action if widespread use of chemical weapons is proven. The White House disclosed U.S. intelligence on Thursday that Syria had likely used chemical weapons, a move President Barack Obama had said could trigger unspecified consequences, widely interpreted to include possible U.S. military action. Syrian neighbors Jordan and Turkey, their support key in any such intervention,

Atlanta - A few years ago, Georgia was locked in a bidding war with North Carolina over the Disney movie, “The Last Song,” starring Miley Cyrus. Both states wanted the movie to film in their state, and North Carolina was close to sealing the deal with an attractive tax incentive package. But Georgia snapped up the production, largely because it had recently expanded its own tax credit for films. Sweetwater - About a year ago, talk began circulating in this West Texas town about a huge oil-producing formation called the Cline Shale, east of the traditional drilling areas around Midland. Then the oilmen and their rigs arrived. Now homes and hotels are sprouting, “help wanted” signs have multiplied, and a major drilling company has cleared land to build an office and equipment yard. (Snip) The Cline Shale, thousands of feet underground in a roughly 10-county swath, is just one of many little-tapped shale formations in Texas and across the nation, geologists say.

And at first, Anzor, his wife, Zubeidat, and their two sons, Tamerlan and Dzhokhar, seemed as energetic and brimming with initiative as their relatives had been. Anzor, a mechanic, fixed up cars. Michelle Obama did not walk the E!-streamed red carpet before tonight´s White House Correspondents´ Dinner — she was already at home, of course — so our first glimpse of her black Monique Lhuillier gown came later, once dinner started. And damn does she look good. This is a sexier look on her than usual, with a sheer lace panel over her decolletage and a molded bustier-style top. She very wisely chose a dress that photographs well while she´s sitting down, Schiaparelli-style, with elaborate beading along her collarbone and fitted cap sleeves that flatter her arms. Over five years after Barack Obama won the Iowa caucuses and demolished the notion that white voters wouldn’t support a black presidential candidate, progress for other African-American politicians remains elusive. Even as the country elected and re-elected Obama, making it seem increasingly unremarkable to have a black family in the White House, African-Americans are scarce and bordering on extinct in the U.S. Senate and governorships. Several House Democrats are calling on Congress to recognize that climate change is hurting women more than men, and could even drive poor women to "transactional sex" for survival. The resolution, from Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) and a dozen other Democrats, says the results of climate change include drought and reduced agricultural output. It says these changes can be particularly harmful for women. "[F]ood insecure women with limited socioeconomic resources may be vulnerable to situations such as sex work, transactional sex, and early marriage that put them at risk for HIV, STIs, unplanned pregnancy, and poor reproductive health,"

In the lore of the ancient Romans, Horatius was a soldier who single-handedly fought off an invading army. The Etruscans had attacked in order to impose a despot on Rome and, by holding them back while his comrades destroyed the bridge that was the only practical route to the city, this single warrior saved the free republic. Obamacare is certainly the bridge via which the forces of despotism plan to “fundamentally transform” the United States, and a decorated Iraq veteran named Matt Sissel may be the Horatius who prevents them from crossing.

HIGHLANDS, NJ — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said Monday that President Obama "has kept every promise he´s made" about helping the state recover from Hurricane Sandy. Speaking on MSNBC´s "Morning Joe" program on the 6-month anniversary of the deadly storm, the Republican governor said presidential politics were the last thing on his mind as he toured storm-devastated areas with Obama last fall. "The president has kept every promise he´s made," said Christie, widely considered a potential candidate for the republican presidential nomination in 2016. "I think he´s done a good job. He kept his word."
