| You´re a recently retired senior government official and you´re looking forward to a drive in the country. France, maybe. What is your choice? What car would you choose if you were on the run, in Europe, with two federal pensions and about, oh, a month or two to kill? For the sake of the hypothetical and purely as a matter of speculation, assume you are not alone, you old dog. Me? My answer is always the Hennessey Cadillac CTS-V wagon with a six-speed stick. Duh. However, I recognize there are other good candidates. They are both named Porsche.

Dan Neal´s car reviews are part car-fantasy, part current events (his recent review of the Range Rover´s 38" fording capability [which he dubs a Schwimmwagen] as being a good thing to have if you were hit by Sandy, while here we envision a defrocked general extensively and rapidly touring the Dolomites), and always fun to read. Among the best revelations here is that the Boxster has a g-meter in its dash. In case you want to know why it feels so good.

My recommendation would be the Barbara Boxster model. Obnoxious power. Like all European models, always finds someone else to pay for it. And runs perpetually on its own fumes.

The earlier generations had engine problems. I think the warning light that indicated problems was abbreviated CEL, which owners joked was the, "change engine light". Porsche really stepped up though and gave everyone new engines, a big expense they ate. Commendable.
The rear plastic window was known to fog on occasion, on earlier models but Porsche again came to the rescue with a bottle of "window-goo", they called it, for cleaning. It cleared up the problem in a jiffy.
There was a special edition released of the Boxster, that was a salute to James Dean´s old 550 Spyder. This special edition had gorgeous aero, a few more perks(insignificant 5 hp more), etc but the most visually stunning aspect, were the beautiful charcoal gray wheels on silver body. This made for a very nice ocmbo and drop dead gorgeous looks, overall.

They are barely seven years old, but these glum-looking children are already being drafted into a tyrannical regime hellbent on waging nuclear war with the world. Standing in arrow-straight rows, their faces are hardly the picture of happiness as they are forced to pledge their allegiance to North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un and call him ´father´. Troubling images of them being inducted into an organisation likened to the Hitler Youth emerged as their despot leader pressed ahead with plans to launch a ballistic missile, potentially with nuclear capabilities.

Health Care: As Democrats grow increasingly worried that ObamaCare will explode on the launch pad just as midterm elections get going, the Obama administration seeks to pin blame on Republicans. Good luck with that. Earlier this week, Health and Human Services head Kathleen Sebelius admitted that she didn´t realize how complicated getting ObamaCare off the ground would be. Only one of my six children has left New York for economic reasons but the strain of living in this expensive nanny state is weighing heavy on my other five and their families. As a native New Yorker, I´ve seen its middle class population decline over the years due to its neglect of blue collar families which is ironic since this is a Democrat city. With the recent arrests of several local politicians for corruption perhaps New Yorkers will pay more attention to those they put in office. Given their past indifference in local elections this is highly unlikely.

LOS ANGELES — Jonathan Winters, the cherub-faced comedian whose breakneck improvisations and misfit characters inspired the likes of Robin Williams and Jim Carrey, has died. He was 87. The Ohio native died Thursday evening at his Montecito, Calif., home of natural causes, said Joe Petro III, a longtime family friend. Petro said Winters died of natural causes and was surrounded by family and friends. Winters was a pioneer of improvisational standup comedy, with an exceptional gift for mimicry, a grab bag of eccentric personalities and a bottomless reservoir of creative energy.
