Colleges and universities were once great institutions, but no longer. Remember this when they ask you to donate.

I´m SO glad that my daughter opted out of college and went to trade school instead. She has been employed full time since she graduated from high school and is an avid conservative.

It´s tragic that the young Republicans at Tufts caved in to their shameful president.

American universities are our most dangerous enemies of freedom of thought and expression.

The situation is reminiscent of that described in Julien Benda´s 1927 book, La Trahison des Clercs, or The Treason(i.e. Betrayal) of the Intellectuals. Partisanship and the rationalization of political hatreds replaced the traditional role of the scholar and seeker of truth and reason.

Much more important then limitations on "speech" is the right of leftist professors to teach their drivel and hand out degrees to the poor saps who faithfully copy the pablum into their doctorate theses. We need an organization that sits in on every thesis defense of departments that use education to push the leftist agenda.

The universities are obviously afraid of allowing their students hear a different point of view. They must be afraid that one or more of them will change their minds about what is happening to our Republic. The students ought to protest this kind of censorship.

Speaking about past US Presidents at a company development seminar, I kept using the term he, his, him etc., to which the HR Director objected. I pointed out that since I was referring to past Presidents and not one of them has been female I was within my rights. She harrumpfed and sat down. But I have a suspicion it went in my file. Glad to be out of it.

At SUNY Oswego NY, an australian exchange student, journalism major, was doing a project, and mildly misrepresented him self in emails to three coaches at other schools. The president of SUNY Oswego, homunculus Debbie Stanley immediately expelled him and kicked him out of the dorm.
Shortly thereafter, she said she was ´heartsick´ over the incident, and allowed him back in. (Stanley is a Syracuse University Law School graduate, without a phd. SU Law also gave the world the delaware dunce, joe biden.)
Back in the early 1990s, homunculus donna shalala, then the chancellor of the U. of Wisconsin, Madison, admitted that she suspended constitutional rights of free speech, for the purpose of ´campus order.´ Shalala went on to be Bill Clinton´s HHS secretary, when she told us we are all going to die of AIDS.
shalala holds a doctorate from the Maxwell School of Citizenship(!) of Syracuse University.
The president of Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pa, allowed HIllary to campaign on campus, over the objections of Bishop Trautman, saying that a college should have exchanges of ideas. Hillary didn´t take questions. That president is a doctoral graduate of the Maxwell School of Syracuse University.

If this old guy were doing it all over again, it would be tech school, probably several areas of interest, and only a course or two at the University. Most college courses are cram and forget anyway.

As I recall Shalala imposed her speech code at Wisconsin to protect gay and lesbian students. The gay and lesbian students fought to have it thrown out. Looks like everyone´s caving now.

second post apologies, but - #11, she didn´t want anyone to be able to say that maybe homosexual/lesbian behavior was contrary to religious principles. So she was only telling people not to discuss something, she was not ´protecting gays and lesbians.´ She apparently was protecting only their tender sensibilities. And her own.
I taught at a state university that constructed a speech code, (created by the Student Affairs folks, who are endlessly meddlesome and anti intellectual) and that code told me that I was never to say anything in class that would ever make ANYONE ever feel uncomfortable, for any reason!
Since my position as a professor required me, in my opinion, to make students uncomfortable at times, to advance knowledge, I ignored the stupid speech code.

If liberals are banning Fitzgerald and Quran, which I thought they loved, PC has finally approached critical mass.
