| He was once known for his love of junk food. But Bill Clinton´s efforts to slim down have clearly paid off. The former US President, 66, looked remarkably trim as he left a plush London restaurant on Thursday night. Mr Clinton had been enjoying a dinner with actor Kevin Spacey at the upmarket Scott´s seafood restaurant in Mayfair, after giving a speech in the capital. The former president, formerly known for his love of burgers, barbecue and junk food, changed to a strict vegan diet in 2010 after fears over his health. Clinton, 66, had quadruple bypass surgery in 2004

Comments: He looks ill on these photos. The brown 3-piece suit doesn´t help.

He looks great for 66, and has probably added years to his life by becoming a vegan. Americans are so surrounded by tub-o-lards that someone with a healthy BMI looks ´frail´ or ´ill´ to them.

Yeah, the Rhodes ´Scholar´ who cheered with the Russian Communists against America, who swindled people with whitewater, who stood by while AIDS infected blood from prisoners of the Arkansas prison system was sold to a blood bank in Canada, who took bribes from a Red Chinese general to allow missile tech to be sold to China, who made low sulfur coal acreage in the US southwest into a national ´park´ after a contribution from southeast Asian mining owners, who had private thugs threaten witnesses, who used state troopers to set up women for his sexual assualts, who lied to congress under oath, who treated the WTC bombing, etc. etc.... Yeah, I´m sure he looked great. The fawning, propagandist, neocommunist news media is the root of most of the ills of the world.

Vegan diet? Ok, whatever. Looks like a possible STD flareup, or worse. bubba looks sick in these photos, as in really sick, and they´re claiming it´s because he´s eating healthy for once in his life.
Sure. Nothing like a healthy diet to make a guy look like crap.
I also heard somewhere that he did not have sex with that woman, monica lewinsky.

#8, My Niece is a Vegan and ended up in the hospital with severe stomach problems. It is definitely not a healthy life style. Vegetarian is better as it allows for cheese and eggs. Too much soy has shown to be bad for you. And to #2., no one is jealous of vegans that I know, and I know a lot of Atkins followers who are fit, healthy and happy. Me being one. We are not all "tubs of lard."

Glad to see other posters cite a chunk of Clinton´s specific negatives. I just didn´t have it in me today to take another Clinton muck-wallow.
So I´ll just summarize as follows: Bill Clinton has no clean end by which he might be picked up.
And I´ll exit with an observation on veganism [or whatever it might be called]: "Vegetables are what food eats."
Hat tip to ALF. Insight is insight, whatever the source.

Why are vegans so smug?
The air of superiority about this strange lifestyle, and condemnation of everyone who eats a normal sensible diet as being "a tub of lard", is offputting to the max.
Does it make them feel good about themselves, make up for other deficits?

Whoa! He is not a vegan. He eats seafood.
Vegetarians do not eat meat, fish, or poultry. Vegans, in addition to being vegetarian, do not use other animal products and by-products such as eggs, dairy products, honey, leather, fur, silk, wool, cosmetics, and soaps derived from animal products.
http://www.vrg.org/nutshell/vegan.htm#what
I´m surprised the vegans among us didn´t catch the bit about seafood and the omission of fish and seafood from his "diet list". Tsk, tsk.
And tell me there is no leather in his shoes, no wool (and maybe silk) in his suit and other clothing, no animal by-products in his soap?
He is a kind of vegeterian. Kind of. Sort of. If you don´t look too closely.

High protein is the best diet going, IMO.

He looks like a gargoyle.
Vegetarians, and especially vegans, are more likely to go blind due to lack of protein. There is also evidence that such a diet can actually cause the brain to shrink. And no amount of beans and rice or soy protein comes close to supplying the protein that meat gives to the body.
Ever wonder why the vast majority of vegetarians and vegans are libs? Now you know - shrunken brain = shrunken intelligence.
If you look at the entire animal world you´ll see that the eyes of carnivores are generally located on the front of the head, to improve the ability to hunt. See humans, dogs, cats, owls etc. The vegetarians animals are the prey and have eyes located on the sides of the head so that they can graze and still keep an eye out for the predators. See horses, deer, rabbits, etc. It´s not natural for a human to be a vegetarian. I always laugh when I hear vegetarians talk about the glories of ´natural´ foods.

I think one of the reasons he looks frail and sickly is because of damage from the heart operation. I read that 50% or more of heart surgery patients suffer from brain damage after being on a heart-lung machine. These patients suffer from memory loss and a changed personality in mild cases. The medical profession even has a name for this common condition, it is called being a "pump head". I think it is a national scandal.

Say you are equally offended by the comparison of vegans to AIDS and cancer victims, ill and near death etc.
Not smug at all, just feel a little annoyed when people who get short of breath after climbing a few steps think of me, a long distance runner, as unhealthy :-) and I am in the upper half of normal weight range (BMI 23, normal being 18.5-24.9).

His house, his booze, his drugs, his women and his 17 children were paid for by a benefits system meant to be a safety net for the truly needy.[Snip] This was one of the most horrible crimes committed against children in Britain in recent years. It was cynical. It was calculating. And it was done out of malice in a ham-fisted plot which went wrong. The trial spoke volumes about the sheer nastiness of the individuals involved. A coral reef in Northern Australia severely damaged by warming seas has managed to completely heal itself in just 12 years, stunned researchers have found. The team found that being left alone to breed on its own was key. The discovery raises hope that other damaged reefs could ´regenerate´. The new research shows that an isolated reef off the northwest coast of Australia that was severely damaged by a period of warming in 1998. It was hit by coral bleaching, caused by higher water temperatures that break down the coral´s symbiotic relationship with algae that provide food for coral growth.

As the US and China grow increasingly involved, Kim Jong-un must be brought into line if war is not to be triggered by an act of recklessness. There are two schools of thought about what lies behind North Korea’s increasingly frenzied posturing. The first goes like this: the rhetoric emanating from Pyongyang--including calls to “break the waists of the crazy enemies [and] totally cut their windpipes”--is no worse than their decades-old ritualistic promises to turn South Korea into a “sea of fire”. What we are witnessing, according to this theory, is nothing more than an inexperienced leader

Anyone who remembers the halcyon dreams of the 1990s, of civil society spreading the world over, heralding a new peaceful, global millennium, must marvel at the path the young 21st century has taken. Even those who paid attention to global Jihad before the millennium could not imagine how vulnerable the West would prove in the coming, wildly asymmetrical war. Those who, over the course of the last 13 years, have awakened to the ever-growing danger of Islamism and to the astonishing inability of decent people--Muslims and non-Muslims--to effectively oppose its aggressions, owe themselves a brief lesson in cognitive warfare, and

RUSH: Folks, I don´t know how else to categorize this. We are living in a dying country. I don´t know how else to categorize what´s happening -- 88,000 new jobs. The unemployment rate, because of a terrible statistic, is down to 7.6%. The number of people in this country who are not working is shameful. Ninety million Americans are no longer in the workforce. Ninety million. People not in the labor force grew by 663,000, and now 90 million. That´s the labor force participation rate. This is 1979 levels.

President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. But I´ve long felt we lack a solid theoretical underpinning for easily discussing these issues, and why precisely it is that

Michelle Obama has admitted that she is already tired of the bangs she first sported in January. The First Lady said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight: ´Bangs are a day-by-day proposition. They´re starting to grow out, get a little irritating.´ Still, she hasn´t let her hairdo woes get her down. ´It´s okay,´ she said after her initial complaint. ´We´ll be good.´ The first indication that her hairstyle was becoming a burden came about last weekend, when Malia, 14, was spotted adjusting her mother´s hair during the White House Easter Egg Roll.

No one is more preoccupied these days with Hillary Clinton´s 2016 plans than the Beltway political class—not even the former presidential candidate herself. To hear some tell it, her decision will be dispositive for all other Democrats thinking of entering the race. And pundits and reporters aren´t the only ones positing the "The Hillary Factor": No less than the House Democratic whip, Steny Hoyer, told BuzzFeed, “I don´t know that anybody would run against Hillary…. If she runs, she clears the field.” It´s an understandable conclusion, given Clinton´s stature in the Democratic Party and her 70 percent

I hope all will look at a lifetime of service over some poorly chosen words.” Carson will remain as commencement speaker at Johns Hopkins,

Sen. John McCain says he doesn´t understand the threats from some of his Republican colleagues to filibuster a bill on background checks to buy guns. "I don´t understand it," the Arizona Republican said on Sunday of the threat coming from Sen. Rand Paul,Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. Mike Lee and nine other Republicans. "The purpose of the United States Senate is to debate and to vote and to let the people know where we stand.” "What are we afraid of? ... If this issue is as important as we all think it is, why not take ... it up and debate?"

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank

On Friday, Sean Hannity brought Pat Smith, mother of the late Sean Smith, on his radio program. The 34-year-old information management officer was one of four Americans murdered in the Benghazi embassy attack on September 11, 2012. In the chilling interview, a distraught Ms. Smith, in tears, pleaded for answers and spoke of the efforts to silence her. Ms. Smith first relayed how her son, prior to the attack, requested additional security in advance and warned the State Department: He did tell them, ahead of time, he typed it into his little typewriter over there,

The Obama White House is scrambling to blame Friday’s abysmal March jobs numbers on the sequester’s trimming of the rate of growth in federal budgets that have yet to fully commence. After the Labor Department announced that a mass exodus of 663,000 workers left the U.S. workforce last month and that job creation fell 112,000 jobs short of projections, Obama’s top economic adviser Alan B. Krueger, took to the White House blog to blame the sequester: It is important to bear in mind that the March household and payroll surveys are the first monthly surveys to look

Beyonce and Jay-Z celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary in Cuba this week. The couple, who married on April 4, 2008, took in the sights of Old Havana, visited a school, dined on a rooftop terrace and strolled the fan-filled streets in their island best.(snip).The power couple declined to answer journalists´ questions about their visit to the island nation, but some outlets are reporting that the moguls are there as tourists, though that would be illegal because of the half-century embargo the U.S. has on the Communist country. However, the Miami Herald said Washington has issued special licenses for

Susan Patton, the Princeton alumna who became famous for her letter urging Ivy League women to use their college years to find a mate, has been denounced as a traitor to feminism, to coeducation, to the university ideal. But really she’s something much more interesting: a traitor to her class. Her betrayal consists of being gauche enough to acknowledge publicly a truth that everyone who’s come up through Ivy League culture knows intuitively —
