Petraeus case shows ease of
government email snooping

San Francisco - The scandal surrounding the sudden resignation of an adulterous CIA director has stunned the American public not just for its prominent cast of characters, but also because of the ease with which authorities appeared to have traipsed through personal email accounts. Technology has transformed communications much faster than the law, giving U.S. authorities at all levels the power to routinely search reams of intimate emails, texts and instant messages, with much lower burdens of proof as far as the relevance to a criminal case.

I think a president is more important and supposed to be trustworthy also, consider fdr, jfk, lbj, slick willy and bammykins. Can we please see all of their emails? That would be assuming that our current moron in the wh has ever used a computer. We need to know all things that he does and says - including reggie love.

5 tears ago, we hired a house sitter who was, unbeknownst to us, a wanted felon. When the State department investigator contacted us for assistance and showed us what he had, we were quite surprised at the email access he had obtained. After that experience, I am sure every joke and disparaging remark about the obamanation goes onto a hard drive somewhere. Paranoid? Maybe. Maybe not.

We, IT people, have been trying to tell people this for decades. The way mail was set up, and is set up, on the internet, you are sending e-postcards, not "mail in an envelope". Your only protection is to send everything, EVERYTHING, encrypted - and that everyone else does too.

BTW, your cell phone is bugged.

Actually, since all cell phone traffic is broadcast, they don´t need a bug or a court order. It´s not even spying - no more than you "spy" on a radio station to hear the news.

At this level, they aren´t snooping.

Has Nancy Pelosi seen a newspaper lately? (Pro tip, hon: Like the Obamacare monstrosity, you have to read it to find out what´s in it.) I´d love to see her face in the wake of the veritable epidemic of Democratic corruption now sweeping the country. Pelosi´s blink count must be off the charts. I´m going to make it easy on Pelosi and put all of the latest cases in one handy rogue´s gallery reference list. But let´s not be naive. It´s clear to me that the Barack Obama/Eric Holder DOJ is clearing the decks before the midterms. Prediction: The FBI´s

God hates Fred Phelps. I so want to hold up a placard emblazoned with that message and stand yards away from members of Phelps’ family as they grieve the death of their hate-mongering patriarch. But I cannot. Phelps founded the Westboro Baptist Church, a Kansas–based church that spewed homophobic vitriol for decades. While Phelps also hated Jews and an assortment of other minorities, it was his vile diatribes against gays that reached epic proportions. He discovered that by protesting funerals – particularly military funerals – he could get national attention. And he did. He also inflicted pain on the families

Will a record-breaking amount of criticism force the Obama administration’s hand to soften proposed new rules for political nonprofits? Opponents sure hope so. Three months after the administration unveiled a controversial new rule for 501(c)(4) nonprofits, both liberal and conservatives groups are hoping a record amount of comments and a deluge of attention from Capitol Hill will persuade the Internal Revenue Service to at least pare back the proposals before finalizing the new rule. “No one thinks the proposals are perfect. There is near unanimity among liberals and conservatives that the effort was a bit too broad,” said Stephen Spaulding, a

Jennifer Jones of Winnipeg has carried the Canadian women´s curling team to the semifinals with a 5-3 victory over the host Russians at the 2014 Sochi Olympics. This win keeps Canada undefeated at 7-0, and could just about wrap up first place in the round-robin stage. The Russian women, led by Anna Sidorova, fell to 3-4, fifth in the standings as of the completion of the match. After stealing the deuce in the fifth end to go up 5-2, Jones played a relentless game. She didn´t surrender a single Russian point over the following three ends, which were all blank.

"That´s equivalent to smoking one or two packs of cigarettes a day, or having sky-high cholesterol," Lopez-Jimenez says.

People of a certain age (and we know who we are) don’t spend much leisure time reviewing the research into cognitive performance and aging. The story is grim, for one thing: Memory’s speed and accuracy begin to slip around age 25 and keep on slipping. The story is familiar, too, for anyone who is over 50 and, having finally learned to live fully in the moment, discovers it’s a senior moment. The finding that the brain slows with age is one of the strongest in all of psychology. Over the years, some scientists have questioned this dotage curve. But these

When government grows too large, dependency replaces achievement. When I was in high school in Detroit, I had a job as a biology laboratory assistant. I spent a substantial amount of time in the greenhouse preparing botany experiments. I had acquired some seeds of an interesting plant and was anxious to use them to produce my own crop of these plants. I planted the seeds in a special container and kept enriching the soil and providing plenty of moisture and sunlight to enhance and accelerate the growth. I was very disappointed with the results and eventually abandoned the project,

Before getting to the speech itself, it’s worth noting a few things. When the Democrats passed and Barack Obama signed Obamacare, the majority opposed it. About 56%, in fact. A majority have consistently opposed that law ever since. The Obama administration touted 7 million sign-ups by March 31 as “success.” When that goal appeared to be unreachable, the administration suggested that maybe 5 or 6 million would be enough. Now, as if by magic, they have their number. Somehow. All along, the administration has touted false numbers of enrollees. A few months back, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius stated for the record that 7 million Obamacare sign-ups by the end of March would constitute success. She was clear about it. A triumphant President Barack Obama declared his signature medical insurance overhaul a success, saying it has made America´s health care system ´a lot better.´ But buried in the 7.1 million enrollments he announced in a heavily staged Rose Garden appearance is a more unsettling reality. Jeb could raise millions of dollars over night by just saying “yes” to running. Despite all this, there are strong reasons Republicans should say no to him. 1. His last name is poison. Let’s face it, if Jeb Bush had the last name of Something Else he would have already run for president in 2008 or 2012. Vegetarians also have a higher socioeconomic status and a lower body mass index.
