Paula Broadwell mentioned Senate run
Politico, by Kevin Cirilli

Original Article

Senator Paula Broadwell? It might have been. TIME Magazine reports that David Petraeus’ mistress considered running for as a Republican candidate for senate in North Carolina — but the then-CIA director was against the idea. In July, Broadwell was in Aspen, Colo., for the Aspen Security Forum, TIME said on Thursday, and told a handful of people that GOP financiers had approached her about a possible campaign. She told the acquaintances that when she informed Petraeus, he questioned her positions on issues ranging from abortion to gun control to taxes.

Comments:
Ha. Petraeus´ worst nightmare. How smart can Broadwell be to think they wouldn´t be outed? Another example of a Harvard education.

There is an extremely active recruitment and outreach program aimed at vets on the part of several GOP groups. Almost by definition, the vets do not have a pile of dough or years of collecting political favors to help launch a run. The donors would definitely look to interview someone with Broadwell´s background (minus the mistress part of the resume.) If you look at who many of your favirite young candidates are, they come from this recruitment process. Part of the dealis to stick with candidates past their first defeat as long as they are compeitive and learn.

She should run in Massachusetts. They elected Elizabeth Warren so obviously no amount of dishonesty or stupidity is an obstacle there.

She´s just enhanced her resume enough so that she could run as a dimocrat anywhere she´d like to and probably be elected.

Former CIA Director David Petraeus stoked the controversy over the Obama administration´s handling of the Libya terror attack, testifying Friday that references to "Al Qaeda involvement" were stripped from his agency´s original talking points -- while other intelligence officials were unable to say who changed the memo, according to a top lawmaker who was briefed. Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., told Fox News that intelligence officials who testified in a closed-door hearing a day earlier, including Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and Acting CIA Director Mike Morell, said they did not know who changed the talking points.

President Obama is holding on to Eric Holder as the nation’s top law-enforcement official, The Post has learned. The newly re-elected president asked his controversial attorney general to stay for the second term, and Holder has agreed despite enduring a firestorm of criticism from Republican lawmakers. “I don’t know if everyone in the White House wants him [Holder] to stay, but the important guy does, and that’s all that matters,” said one person briefed on the matter. Holder’s office declined to comment. His hardest-fought battle came over the botched sting operation called Fast and Furious,

Washington - Anonymous harassing emails that Tampa socialite Jill Kelley turned over to the FBI contained information about the movements of CIA Director David Petraeus which was not publicly available, a law enforcement source told Reuters. The fact that the emails´ author - later determined to be Petraeus´ mistress Paula Broadwell - knew confidential information about the CIA chief´s activities was one of the main reasons the FBI felt compelled to launch an in-depth investigation into their origin and motivation, the source said. The emails, which a second law enforcement source said included

Tampa - The South Tampa woman connected to the Gen. David Petraeus scandal has called police to her home several times in the last few days, and at least once tried to invoke "diplomatic protection." Media from around the world have convened on the two-story Bayshore Boulevard home of Scott and Jill Kelley. Jill is the socialite mother of three whose FBI complaint about harassing emails eventually led investigators to uncover the CIA director´s affair with his biographer and is now linked to the name of a second top general. The Kelleys have kept a low profile since news of the scandal broke,

He was, he said, heartbroken. Embarrassed. Sad. Disappointed. Humiliated.By the end of an extraordinary and exhaustive 107-minute news conference, Chris Christie had transformed himself from a belligerent chief executive, famed for ridiculing his detractors, into a deeply wronged father figure, shaking his head, whispering his words and verging on tears. The bravado had vanished. The certitude was gone. In its place was an entirely new vocabulary of self-doubt and a once unthinkable spectacle: Governor Christie acknowledging a “crisis in confidence,” sleepless nights, second-guessing and nonstop soul-searching. Political apologies generally follow a robotic sequence. The public figure caught doing wrong offers a terse, often

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie publicly apologized Thursday for controversial lane closures last year that were arranged by his associates as an apparent act of political revenge, and fired a top aide who was at the center of the scandal. "I come out here to apologize to the people of New Jersey," he said. "I am embarrassed and humiliated." The governor added: "I am stunned by the abject stupidity that was shown here." (Snip) Christie stressed Thursday that he was not involved and that while his political style is tough, "I am not a bully." He said repeatedly that he was betrayed by his staff. Christie maintained that, until this week,

A top Ford executive made a startling admission about the amount of data the auto maker tracks from its customers at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show this week. “We know everyone who breaks the law, we know when you’re doing it,” Ford Vice-President Jim Farley told a crowd in Las Vegas during the show. “We have GPS in your car, so we know what you’re doing.” The global marketing and sales division chief was trying to make a larger point about the amount of real-time data Ford has on drivers that could be used in the future to alleviate problems

The Big Three networks, in a frenzy over New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie´s traffic headache dubbed “Bridgegate,” have devoted a whopping 34 minutes and 28 seconds of coverage to the affair in just the last 24 hours. By comparison, that´s 17 times the two minutes, eight seconds devoted to President Obama´s IRS scandal in the last six months, according to an analysis by the Media Research Center. “While routinely burying new stories on the IRS scandal, the media practically fell over themselves to start taking shots at the potential 2016 Republican presidential nominee,” said the conservative media watchdog.

In a few pages, a unique former Secy of Defense has put the Obama White House in full defense mode this week about the president and the VP, their intellectual capabilities & their political and management strategies, or lack. And Robert Gates´ memoir, "Duty," also coincidentally messed up Obama´s preferred message about unemployment these days. But now the focus is on Gates´ book. Gates is the only man to hold the defense job under a Republican and a Democrat. [Snip] Gates´ book is an indictment of Obama as president, saying he did not believe in his own war strategy.

Europe is set to suffer more severe droughts due to climate change and increased water use, scientists have warned. By the end of the century, southern Europe in particular will have 80 per cent more droughts than at present. New research by the European Commission predicts that water shortages will be made worse by population growth and increased demand. Drought can have a serious economic and social impact and is thought to have cost Europe over €100billion (or £83billion) in the past three decades alone. Researchers used computer models to predict which parts of Europe could be worst hit by increasing temperatures and intensive

A mob of teenagers have been caught on tape robbing a convenience store in Bryan, Texas. Surveillance video shows the kids rushing through the store, grabbing everything they can get their hands on as girls are seen twerking and doing the splits outside. The frightening ransacking incident took place Saturday as store clerk Terry Polsgrove, 19, was shutting up for the night. A few teenagers are seen trickling into the Chevron Food Mart, then, all of a sudden, 30 to 40 teenagers are dancing and acting ´crazy´ down the aisles and in the parking lot. Butter´s back—and with a creamy vengeance. Foodies extol its flavor. Purists praise its freedom from trans fats. Annual per capita butter consumption in the U.S. (now 5.6 pounds), has risen 25 percent in the last decade to a 40-year high, according to American Butter Institute. "Our sales have been growing by double-digits every year," says Albert Straus, owner of the Straus Family Creamery, whose cows graze the bucolic hills above Tomales Bay, in western Marin County, Calif. Staus´ European-style butter has proved incredibly popular, he says, especially among chefs. It was created 20 years ago at the suggestion of famed California

Chris Christie unleashed a fiery defense of his leadership skills, telling reporters he’s not a bully and that he’s not your typical focus group-tested politician. An unidentified female reporter asked the governor whether this scandal continues the narrative that he is a “political bully” and whether it compromises his ability to lead into the future. Christie responded: Listen, politics ain’t beanbag, okay? Everybody in the country who engages in politics knows that.
