WASHINGTON — An Obama administration official says a Tampa Bay socialite whose emails triggered the eventual downfall of CIA director David Petraeus visited the White House three times this year with her sister, twice eating in the Executive Mansion mess. The official says that Jill Kelley, who initiated an investigation that ultimately unveiled Petraeus’ extramarital affair, and her sister had two “courtesy” meals at the White House mess as guests of a mid-level White House aide. Kelley and her family also received a White House tour. The visits occurred during the past three months. The official spoke on condition of anonymity Headline split by staff.
She is Lebanese born. Is she funneling info to our enemies about Americas top brass and our Special Operations forces? What are two generals doing getting involved in a child custody dispute? Way too familiar.
Note to the AP: Isn´t the word you were looking for SOCIALITE??? Not socialist...but then again if they are associating with Obama they might be socialists; somehow I doubt the AP would know the difference.
Example: A close friend has visited the White House 4 times in last 12 months. None of the visits involved meeting anybody having anything to do with politics, government or policy.
She is apolitical and works for Pentagon. It is not uncommon for people like her who are related to government service to get invites to things like "WH Twilight Garden Tour", Bowling at WH. The invites have usually been considered a nice perk and reward. They are wholly inocuous, involve othing other than a semi exclusive tour or pass to a public space (like the mess.)
Much bigger story leaked today is that Mrs. P is being employed by the administration in a job that pays hundreds of thousands in cash and enefits. Part and parcel of the looting of the US taxpayer (those few that are left)
This entire story is remindfull of the social reality in Singapore, that bastion of Brit social strata, pre-WW2.
All incoming Brit officers were vetted for social acceptability by women of a certain standing. Those judged ill-suited were run off, leaving the military with a surplus of socially acceptable officer-twits when the Japanese attacked. That is how the under-manned Japanese were able to beat the Brits in short order, even though the Brits had East Indian and Australian troops available, troops that always gave a good account of themselves with any kind of leadership.
Is Pretaeus our General "Rabbit" Percival? Must we get our butts kicked like the Brits did, before Russia and America bailed them out?
The Mess is not a "public place". It is a formal (white linen/WH china) dining room that you can only go to with higher level people at the WH. The Mess name comes from the fact that it is run by the Navy. It is in the West Wing.
Excuse me. My use of Mess and Public Place in a sentence did not mean to imply the public can walk in nor that lacks a great deal of cachet amongst the hoi polloi. It was meant to state that it is not likely to be chosen as a spot for a nefarious or secret rendezvous. The crux of the whe headline and buzz is misleading in that it implies the sisters had some sort of extremely high level entree that could, in turn, imply there is something to this baloney. There is a real scandal and this is a side show.
Read the entire article. This hussy is not your average White House tourist. She brags in e-mails to reporters about her friends in the Administration. She brags about being appointed to this and that. Her special positions ,if you will. Here´s the most telling part. She squealed her delight that Barry was re-elected. No one who respects the military and all the sacrifices the members have made, including the ultimate sacrifice , could be happy that Barry will have another four years in which he can further degrade and destroy our military. I think she is Tampa Rose.
Tampa Rose is right. This woman was not a Tampa socialite until someone in the state dept. bestowed honors to her, which also enabled her to enter the base. The fact that she volunteered to insert herself in the 2 Koran controversies in FL, the preacher who wanted to burn one & a radio host who wanted to fry one.... is also telling.
This Lebanese woman is working with the WH & the state dept. gave her the credentials to worm her way in. I suspect Broadwell discovered the Kelly mission & the threatening emails had to do with her spy mission, not jealousy.
A first-term Florida Republican congressman has been charged with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, according to charges filed in Washington, D.C., superior court on Tuesday. Rep. Trey Radel, R-Fla., faces arraignment on Wednesday in Washington. He was arrested on Oct. 29 for alleged possession of cocaine, which was first reported by Politico. The charge carries a statutory maximum sentence of 180 days of imprisonment and/or a fine of $1,000, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office. Radel released the following statement on Tuesday: "I´m profoundly sorry to let down my family, particularly my wife and son, and the people of Southwest Florida.
A sweeping child pornography investigation has led to the rescue of 386 children around the world and the arrest of 348 people, Canadian police said Thursday. Toronto police describe the Project Spade operation as one of the largest child porn busts they´ve ever seen. "It is alleged that officers seized hundreds of thousands of videos detailing horrific sexual acts against very young children, some of the worst that they have ever viewed," Inspector Joanna Beaven-Desjardins said. Police said 108 people were arrested in Canada and 76 in the U.S. Others were arrested in other countries. Australian Federal Police commander Glen McEwen
RALEIGH-DURHAM INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, N.C. --The pilot of a Southwest Airlines flight headed to RDU went on the loudspeaker and told passengers their plane was going down, according to a woman on board the flight. "He said, we´re going down. And everyone is looking around like, is this a joke? Is he serious? And then you felt the nosedive," passenger Shelley Wills said. Wills told ABC11 the Tuesday night flight from Tampa took a nosedive thousands of feet in the air while they were about 100 miles away from RDU. Wills is a nurse and tried helping the first-time flier seated next to her who
The Family Research Council (FRC) released a video in time for Veterans Day that warns Americans about the persecution of U.S. troops who express their Christian faith. The four-minute-and-44 second video, “A Clear and Present Danger,” features active duty members of the U.S. military sharing their concerns about the “tremendous culture of intimidation and fear in the ranks of the American military right now.” The identities of the men the faces and voices of the man are obscured to cloak their identities. “Soldiers give up a lot of privileges or rights to be soldiers and defend the freedom of others,”
Today has, rightfully, been set aside to honor the men and women who have stood in the breech between us and those who would destroy us, devoting precious years in the very prime of their young lives to protect the country, the people and the way of life they love. They all made tremendous sacrifices, up to and including the ultimate one of giving their lives for their country. They suffered the loss of limbs, sight and even their sanity, or at the very least, the grinding loneliness of separation from family, loved ones and everything that was dear and
A leading allergy doctor has debunked a host of myths, saying that gluten allergy doesn’t exist – and nor do hypoallergenic pets. Dr David Stukus, an allergy specialist from Columbus, Ohio, wrote a presentation debunking various common allergy misconceptions after years of hearing patients declare inaccuracies. One pet peeve is the patients who say they can’t eat bread because they’re allergic to gluten, he says. ‘There’s this claim about “gluten allergy,” which really doesn’t exist,’ he told the website today.com. ‘It’s not really a recognised allergy. Wheat is a recognised allergy — but a lot of people will misinterpret that as
Sybrina Fulton was on Capitol Hill Tuesday testifying on the issue of “stand your ground,” an issue close to her heart after the death of her son Trayvon Martin. Senator Ted Cruz told her during the hearing that stand your ground laws are not racist, and Fulton responded to Cruz’s defense of the Florida law Al Sharpton‘s MSNBC show Tuesday night. Sharpton cited statistics to rebut Cruz’s claim that African-Americans have benefitted more from stand your ground laws in Florida than white Americans have. Fulton told Sharpton there’s “some disconnect” in Cruz’s remarks, saying he is “not aware of the
Aurora, Colo. — Police were searching Tuesday for a man who tried to kidnap an 8-year-old girl from her bedroom in the middle of the night by slashing an outdoor screen and dragging her into an alley. Investigators say the girl screamed for help early Monday morning and was able to get away from the abductor just as her father ran outside to help her. The father told police he saw the suspect speed away in the alley that runs behind their house. Police Chief Dan Oates said the girl´s loud struggle to escape may have saved her life. Oates
Josef Martin, 92, woke up with a gun barrel in his mouth. The robbers told him to "shut up" and stay quiet as they ransacked his east-central Fresno home early Wednesday morning. The World War II veteran, who served in four major battles in Europe and is blind in one eye and nearly deaf, lay motionless with the gun in his mouth, sure that if he moved, they would kill him. After a few minutes, a robber got him out of bed and struck him in the face with the butt of a handgun, then threw him into his bedroom
Don’t donate to the tea party or to evangelical Christian groups — that was the message soldiers at a pre-deployment briefing at Fort Hood said they received from a counter-intelligence agent who headed up the meeting. If you do, you could face punishment — that was the other half of the message, as reported by Fox News. The briefing was Oct. 17, and about a half-hour of it was devoted to discussion about how perceived radical groups — like tea party organizations and the Christian-based American Family Association — were “tearing the country apart,” one unnamed soldier said, to Fox
A business owner who contracted with the Pentagon has pleaded guilty to charges he sold the military defective parts that grounded planes, and then sent sensitive information to India. In a release Thursday, federal prosecutors said Robert Luba, 47, the owner of Allied Components LLC of New Jersey, sold the government defective Indian-made “wing-pins” that eventually grounded 47 Air Force F-15 fighters while military officials inspected and repaired the aircraft. Then he sent information on a component of a nuclear-powered submarine to an associate in India, officials said. “The conduct admitted by Luba shows a callous disregard for the safety of
A new bipartisan poll finds that most Americans support creation of a special congressional committee to investigate events surrounding the Sept. 11, 2012, terrorist attacks on U.S. facilities in Benghazi, Libya. Among voters who were polled, 62 percent believe “it is important” for Congress to establish a singular committee to address unanswered questions about the bombing in Benghazi, Libya, that claimed four American lives, including Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, according to pollsters John McLaughlin, a Republican, and Pat Caddell, a Democrat. More than 80 percent of Republicans and 58 percent of independents also support creation of a special panel to assess
It´s no secret that Sarah Palin is mighty steamed at MSNBC and Martin Bashir over his despicable remarks about the abusive treatment he imagines for her. And now she´s doing something about it. The former Alaska governor and Fox News contributor was scheduled to sit down with Matt Lauer for a Christmas season interview. That´s now toast. Palin has now canceled Lauer´s scheduled trip to Wasilla, a source close to her tells me. It´s not because Palin is upset with Lauer or the "Today" show, but as a protest against NBC for not taking action against Bashir. In fact, Palin once sat
´´Knockout´´ attacks have been reported in several states around the country and now investigators believe three people have been attacked in our area. Police in Lower Merion are investigating two attacks in the area, and Philadelphia detectives are investigating an attack in Northeast Philadelphia. It’s a violent crime that in other parts of the country has proven fatal. Videos from cities around the country show people being punched and beaten at random.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said on a conference call organized by Karl Rove’s Crossroads organization for large donors and their advisers on Oct. 30 that the Tea Party movement, in his view, is a “nothing but a bunch of bullies” that he plans to “punch … in the nose.” On the call, according to a donor who was on it, McConnell personally named Sens. Mike Lee (R-UT) and Ted Cruz (R-TX) as Tea Party conservatives he views as problematic for him. “The bulk of it was an attack on the Tea Party in general, Cruz in particular,” the source, a
A teen playing the "Knockout Game" in Lansing, Michigan unwittingly targeted a concealed carry permit holder and was shot twice. He survived and is now in jail. As Breitbart News previously reported, the "Knockout Game" thrives in areas where victims are unarmed. In the "game," teens approach a stranger on the sidewalk or in an alley and punch the stranger in an attempt to knock him or her out. A punch that results in a knockout scores one point. WILX in Lansing reported that teenager Marvell Weaver, who is black, tried to knock out a father who was standing at
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid´s finger is hovering over the big red button that will launch the Democrats´ nuclear attack against the United States Senate. By which we mean that, having secured 51 votes, Reid reportedly plans to advance a change to the body´s voting rules that would facilitate the approval of presidential nominees. KABOOM. That rules change, the much-discussed "nuclear option," is not an insignificant move for Reid. It´s not as bad as what happened in, say, Hiroshima in 1945, but it upends a long-standing tradition in the chamber. The problem in the Democrats´ view, as we´ve noted before,
WASHINGTON -- Democrats quickly enjoyed the first fruits of a milestone Senate vote making it harder for the Republican minority to block President Barack Obama´s nominations: They swiftly ended a GOP filibuster against one of his top judicial selections and prepared to do the same for two others. Over the longer term, they might regret what they did and how they did it, Republicans and others are warning. When Democrats muscled the changes through Thursday over the opposition of every GOP senator, it helped heighten Congress´ already high level of partisan animosity. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., used a process that
Today, President Obama and the Democrats are faced with the opportunity to take a timeout – a timeout from ObamaCare. I believe that they should delay ObamaCare for six months to a year. America’s health care system isn’t something that can be pieced together on an ad-hoc basis amidst failing websites, party infighting, bickering insurers and a confused American public. Since the website launched last month, it has become increasingly clear that the policy – and indeed the mechanics – weren’t ready yet. And while I, along with the rest of the American people, would’ve preferred that it had worked
Joining the hosts of MSNBC’s The Cycle on Friday, legendary NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw previewed a special on the 50th anniversary of John F. Kennedy’s assassination that will air on MSNBC that night. Recounting his experiences from that day, he said that the reaction to JFK’s assassination, “mostly in conservative states,” was encapsulated by his interaction with one man who expressed satisfaction over the president’s killing. “This was unusual but it was not unheard of,” Brokaw told the MSNBC hosts, prefacing a conservative’s reaction to JFK’s killing. “As I came running out of the announce booth, the chief engineer,
To the average American, ObamaCare is part web site disaster, part shattered campaign promise writ very, very large. Millions of Americans have already been forced out of their existing health care policies, a number that may skyrocket in the new year. Russell Simmons sees it differently. The hip-hop mogul says ObamaCare is already so successful it´s saved thousands, if not millions of lives. Yes, we initially wanted single payer, and we had to compromise back in 2009 for the Affordable Care Act. But, it is a damn good piece of legislation that has already saved hundreds of thousands, if not millions of lives. So,
Appearing shell-shocked by the Harry Reid’s abrupt move to pass the “nuclear option” through the Senate, Republicans there issued ominous warnings to reporters outside the chamber. “When you start, it’s like wars — there’s no end to this. I don’t know where it goes,” says Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina. “In my view this is the most important and most dangerous restructuring of Senate rules since Thomas Jefferson wrote them at the beginning of our country,” Senator Lamar Alexander of Tennessee says. Democrats have been open about wanting the change so President Obama’s regulations, executive actions and other unilateral decisions enjoy a
“Congress is broken,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday before holding a party-line vote that disposed of rules that have guided and protected the chamber since 1789. If Congress wasn’t broken before, it certainly is now. What Reid (Nev.) and his fellow Democrats effectively did was take the chamber of Congress that still functioned at a modest level and turn it into a clone of the other chamber, which functions not at all. They turned the Senate into the House. Democrats were fully justified in stripping Republicans of their right to filibuster President Obama’s nominees — yet they will
For the White House, November has been the cruelest month, with increasing worry among Democrats that a year from now could mean another midterm electoral disaster, similar to the results in 2010 when Republicans picked up over 60 House seats to gain control and netted six Senate seats as well. Each day produces a new poll with terrible numbers for the president and his policies. The Obama approval level has dipped below 40% in several surveys in recent days, and yesterday hit an all-time low of 37% in a CBS poll — a survey that in the past has often
