The World’s Dumbest Conservatives
Weekly Standard, by Sam Schulman

Original Article

In 2012, American conservatives occupied themselves with the stately process of challenging a sitting president. While we were enjoying the pomp and ceremony which just ended, European conservative parties and governing coalitions have been quietly disintegrating. The disease runs through the free-market conservative coalition that governs Germany, and erupted last week in the Netherlands at what should have been a moment of triumph for the leading free-market party, the VVD. It also afflicts the conservative-led government of the United Kingdom and Nicolas Sarkozy’s UMP party in France, which lost power in May and June after 10 years

Excellent article that should be a must read. Let´s learn from the Europeans what the consequences of abandoning principle will be.

#1´s observation is prescient. Plus, when we couple "abandoning principle" with the outright evil intent of the left´s dismantling of America we´re charting a course from which there is little or no hope of reversing.

NEW BEDFORD — Police say three people have been taken into custody for questioning at a housing complex where the younger Boston Marathon bombing suspect may have lived. New Bedford Police Lt. Robert Richard says a private complex of off-campus housing at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth was searched by federal authorities Friday evening. Richard says the FBI took two males and one female into custody for questioning. He says 19-year-old suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev may have resided at or was affiliated with the housing complex. He is registered at the school.

No one in Boston will forget the drama of the manhunt for two brothers suspected in the Marathon bombings. Nor will anyone forget the courage of the officers involved, including Sean Collier of the MIT police, who lost his life, and MBTA Transit officer Richard H. Donahue Jr., who was seriously injured. On Thursday night and Friday, residents of Greater Boston experienced the type of siege that most see only in movies. All along, though, the cooperation among authorities, victims, and an intensely engaged public made it clear there was no way for the bombers to escape

BOSTON -- They gathered in silence on Boylston Street, just three blocks away from the chaos and carnage caused by twin bombings four days earlier. Some were crying. Boston University student Aaron Wengertsman, 19, wrapped himself in an American flag. He was on the marathon route a mile from the finish line when the bombs exploded. "I´m glad they caught him alive," he said of one of two brothers authorities say were responsible for the explosions. "I thought people might be more excited, but it´s humbling to see all these people paying their respects."

OXFORD, Miss. -- Federal authorities have scant evidence linking a Mississippi man to the mailing of ricin-laced letters to the president and a senator, his attorney says. Christi McCoy said after a court hearing Friday that the government has offered no evidence to prove her client, Paul Kevin Curtis, had possession of any ricin or the seed from which it is extracted - castor beans. An FBI agent testified during the hearing that he could not say if investigators had found ricin at Curtis´ home, and McCoy said the evidence linking the 45-year-old to

All in all, it’s been a horrible week, and today has been no better. But this morning, a little beam of light amid the darkness. Ruslan Tsarniof, uncle of the Boston Bombers, came out of his house and, facing a gaggle of reporters, showed the best of America. Here was a confused, grieving man, who managed nonetheless to articulate in the heat of a difficut momement what is best about immigrants in the United States. Tsarniof praised assimilation and, crucially, he highlighted the potential problems that arise when newcomers refuse to “settle.”

If you thought President Obama was outraged after the Senate killed the plan to expand background checks on guns, you should have seen some members of the press. Even by the standards of today’s partisan media environment, the response has been noteworthy. Television hosts, editorial boards, and even some reporters have aggressively criticized and shamed the 46 Senators who opposed the plan, while some have even taken to actively soliciting the public to contact them directly. The decision by some members of the media to come down so firmly on one side of a policy debate has only served

Flash back to 1972. Dr. Harvey Karman, a star of the abortion movement, came up with a bold publicity stunt. The 1972 "mass Mother´s Day abortion," as the Chicago Tribune described it, was designed to show that late-term abortions could be easy and safe. The site of this demonstration was the Philadelphia abortion clinic of Dr. Kermit Gosnell. The media was alerted, and television cameras rolled in. Arriving by bus were 18 pregnant women, half of them teenagers, who would undergo a new abortion technique called the "Super Coil." A Los Angeles Times article in April 1972 --

WASHINGTON — The Boston Marathon bombing marked a watershed moment that counterterrorism officials and specialists have dreaded for years: the use of multiple “improvised explosive devices,’’ or IEDs, to inflict mass casualties on US soil. Islamic militant groups routinely have used makeshift bombs — detonated nearly simultaneously — to kill civilian bystanders as well as military personnel from Iraq and Israel to Russia and Afghanistan. But until Monday’s explosions at the finish line in Copley Square, such street-level detonations targeting sidewalk or marketplace crowds had not occurred in the United States. “The sad thing is that finally someone

Authorities on Tuesday revealed little new information about the terrorist attack at the Boston Marathon, the most high-profile bombing on U.S. soil in more than a decade and a tragedy that presents a new test for President Obama. Obama, like all Americans, is standing by, waiting for answers as to who planted two bombs improvised from pressure cookers at the finish line of the storied race, and why. Three Americans were killed in Monday´s attack and more than 170 others were injured. "Anytime bombs are used to target innocent civilians, it is an act of terror," Obama said,

In the Muslim world there were concerns about who might be blamed; in Britain thoughts turned to their own marathon set to take place Sunday. In its aftermath, the Boston Marathon bombings became a global news story, appearing on front pages in places ranging from Argentina to Turkey. Max Fisher of the Washington Post reported Monday afternoon on the fear that spread throughout the Muslim world that a potential bomber might turn out to be someone who practiced the same faith. He pointed attention to Jenan Moussa, a reporter for Al Aan TV based in Dubai.

So once again, no good deed goes unpunished. Uncle Sam lets another bunch of leeching future terrorists into the country who have absolutely no business being here, gives them “asylum,” making them immediately eligible for welfare, and this is the thanks we get? They turn into mass murderers. We bring in thousands of Muslims from a primitive society that has been battling Christians for centuries, and put them into a peaceful Christian society — what could possible go wrong? This is what I was thinking about yesterday, with much of the city under what amounted to martial law.

We are still speculating about virtually everything right now, but I feel as though I need to explain why I find the quick and easy conversation about Muslims being radicalized in America to be so illogical and laced with bigotry. Of course, there is a global violent jihadist movement, loosely organized, that wants to recruit young men to influence policies at home and abroad and perhaps usher in the global caliphate. That ideology motivates some Muslims to kill innocent people. But you´re allowed to be a radical Muslim in America.

Federal law enforcement officials are actively investigating the possibility that the Boston bombers were known to the government’s terror-trackers, MailOnline understands. Any inquiry into the marathon bombing will look into whether agents could have taken action – but didn’t – to prevent the Tsarnaev brothers from obtaining the explosives that killed 3 and wounded 173 others. CBS News reported Friday evening that two years ago, the FBI interviewed the elder brother Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, who was killed in Thursday night´s dramatic shootout. Griner was asked by SI’s Maggie Gray on the difference between men’s and women’s sports when it comes to acceptance of sexual orientation; why the WNBA has been able to often embrace many lesbians within their sport, while male sports in America still waits on its first publicly gay player.
