The Republican Party is a Political Insane Asylum

| “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results” Albert Einstein In the end, it was another Democratic Party rout. On Election Day, President Obama defeated Mitt Romney by over three million popular votes and 126 electoral votes. The President won every battleground state except one and ushered in to Congress two more Democrats in the Senate and at least seven more in the House. While Obama recorded seven million fewer votes than in 2008, Romney was one million votes shy of reaching John McCain’s losing total.

The repub party is either going to make a significant shift in returning to its core principles, and quickly, or they will have no chance to recapture the few supporters they can.
I don´t believe they can br saved.. I think there are to many Republicrats that are statists too. Or they´ve been in DC so long they think they own the place and are part of the "screw them, their my constituents club". There are a whole lotta of u s who will never hold our nose again to support a party that continues to snap defeat from the jaws of victory repeatedly.

Almost correct. Many of those "savaging" conservatives are others who call themselves conservatives. If those of us who are conservative had acted we would have added President Jack Kemp to our history of great Republican Presidents. Reading posts on this site all season it was obvious to me that we were picking apart each candidate who was a conservative to Mitt Romney. Some of them blew their own campaigns apart. Mitt Romney is a good man with a good record in business. He is not a movement conservative. I respect his accomplishments and would have preferred that he win the election as most here would have. There are some who won´t be happy until we nominate a candidate who is pefect. That is to say, some will never be happy. In the meantime, I´ll go back to reading Kirk, Buckley, and Burke while assessing which conservative can win. That candidate will have my support.

The writer as well as the first couple of posters continue to overlook one basic reality: we have to choose a nominee from among the ANNOUNCED candidates. You cannot make up your own favorite superhero candidate, or coerce someone who doesn´t want to run into doing so. Why is that so hard to grasp?
And as to the 2012 hopefuls who may have been more conservative than Mitt (Santorum, Bachmann, Perry, Gingrich, "9-9-9" Cain) each one of them fell short FOR A REASON. There was no RNC plot against any of them, and none would have had a ghost of a chance in the general. It would have been 1964 all over again.
Romney and his campaign made mistakes, no question, but those conservatives who continue to trash this fine man who gave it all he had ought to get off their asses and get in the game themselves.

It looks like the name calling loonies who were with us last week are back name calling ( Rinos,), etc. again. An interesting letter in last week´s local rag was from one lady, who admittedly didn´t vot for Romney because he isn´t a Christian, or some such nonsense.
We don´t need excuses to goof this thing up. When there is an election in a two party system, you go and vote for the person who most nearly represents your views, or, alternatively, against the person who doesn´t. Jo Jo the dog faced boy would have been my candidate if he had run on the Republican ticket.
I am embarrassed to share this planet with people who did anything else.

FTA: “Romney tried to make the entire campaign about one issue, the economy. As a result, social conservatives were given no reason to vote.”
-If social conservatives really thought that they had no reason to vote they are devoid of reason itself. If they believe Obama will address their moral political issues more favorably than Romney would have, they are deluded.
-Romney picked a tea party favorite as his VP running mate.
-As for Ron Paul delegates, many of them behaved like thugs during the nomination process. You don’t invite thugs to a party.
The author of this article is correct about one thing: The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
As long as social conservatives continue to believe that our nation would be better off by letting social and fiscal progressives run our government as a result of the religious right withholding support for sympathetic but non-evangelical fiscal conservatives, our country will continue its downward spiral. And that is truly insane.

As a Christian conservative, I have to take issue with those who claim that his loss is the result of evangelicals who did not support Romney. I´m an evangelical, as are many of my friends, and we all supported him, campaigned for him and voted for him. What´s more, from what I´ve read about our demographic nationwide, the vast majority did the same. That´s why I´d say the evangelical argument is a weak one, though not unexpected, given that there were those who, during the primary, regularly trashed anyone who preferred someone other than Romney as "an anti-Mormon evangelical" and accused people who disagreed with MR politically of religious bigotry.
In reality, I believe that conservative turn-out was better and the vote count was more favorable to us than the fraudulent records reflect. The problem is, we´ve been had, both by the Dems and by our own leaders in the GOP who won´t fight against lying and fraud. There has to be a better way to run a party.

Other then Romney the stupid party (the Republicans) did not have anyone who could have won the election. I think that millions did not vote for Romney because he is a Mormon. If will be even worse in 2016 if Hillary Clinton, or some Obama clone, gets the Democrat nomination. Then besides the candidate you will have both Barack Obama and Bill Clinton out there campaigning for whoever the Democrat candidate turns out to be.

Children have always been political pawns where overbearing leftwing regimes are concerned. Political Science professor and small-time MSNBC weekend host Melissa Harris-Perry is tripping down the primrose path as carved out by the trademark lean-on-the-kids Barack and Mrs. Obama. For almost five years Barack Obama has talked almost exclusively to university and school children. Imperious, duck-the-adults Obama has his very own Youth Corps. With zero experience and zero charisma, Michelle Obama has remained stubbornly on school children’s’ lunch plate.

In midst of the modern, mindless battle to drive religion completely from American life, a small and inconvenient fact has been ignored: Virtually every important, original American idea is a product of Christianity. Further, had these doctrines never been developed, the US would arguably not been nearly as productive, free or happy. These ideas involve property, liberty, and the rule of law.Today the government bears down upon the Constitution, menacing the Bill of Rights and our entire way of life, offering to trade our freedoms for the supposed security of state control. For the many whose complaints were marginalized when New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan invited President Barack Obama to the legendary Al Smith dinner two weeks before the November 6 election on the weak-kneed alibi that “he invited Mitch Romney too”: Cardinal Dolan gave abortion-loving Vice President Joe Biden Holy Communion and a gleeful shout-out from the altar of St. Patrick’s Cathedral, New York City on Palm Sunday. If President Barack Obama is serious about pioneering a Congress-paid, $100-million mapping expedition into the human brain, he should seek the help of celebrated brilliant brain surgeon Dr. Ben Carson. But it’s far more likely that megalomanic Obama is only jumping onto the human brain study bandwagon because that’s where the increasingly popular Dr. Carson is. “Obama, who jokingly labeled himself “Scientist-in-Chief”, said the so-called BRAIN Initiative could create jobs and eventually lead to answers to ailments including Parkinson’s and autism and help reverse the effect of a stroke.

The new battle-cry to save a disappearing Republic should begin with the words: “Set our children free”. While the President Barack Obama-led Socialist regime in Washington calls the tune by keeping the bouncing ball over the concept of Government-Fighting-Patriots, the real battle is the one where it gets to take over your children. With all eyes trained expectantly on the latest Obama executive order; with the definition of one man, one woman marriage being rewritten by the Supreme Court, progressives in office have been working out the details to come up with a way to capture your children.

Former famed CIA director David Petraeus apologized last week for his blackmail-able extramarital affair with sycophant author Paula Broadwell that “caused such pain for [his] family, friends and supporters,” during an event honoring the military at the University of Southern California. While it must have been devastating for his wife Holly of 37 years to have to go to the family doctor to be tested for sexually transmitted diseases thanks to her husband’s infidelity and lies—something all spouses and partners need to do under such circumstances, that is between them. The truth is Petraeus is getting off easy.

It’s Good Friday and a government holiday in Ottawa. No point trying to reach Canadian Finance Minister Jim Flaherty today. So rather than wait until Monday, Canada Free Press (CFP) is posing this cliff-hanger question: “Is that a Cyprus-style “Bail In” proposed in the newly-minted 2013 budget?” That’s what economic gunslingers on both sides of the border and dozens of letters to the editor are charging. What began as a rumble is growing into an ear-splitting cacophony—and the Canadian government should post a truthful, detailed and in-plain-English explanation on its website.

Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

More than six months since Ambassador Christopher Stevens was assassinated by terrorists in Benghazi, the Obama administration is still trying to keep a lid on information about the attack. Congress and the American people need to know what happened the night of Sept. 11, 2012. Who did the killing and what was their motive? Why wasn´t help sent? And why did the administration lie about who was responsible? Members of Congress have asked hundreds of questions at hearings conducted by several investigative committees, but many of the most significant have been left unanswered. Information detailing what happened before, during and Headline corrected.
