During his national radio show on Friday, American Family Association spokesman Bryan Fischer, spokesman made the case against Republican Party outreach to Hispanic-Americans, dismissing them as “socialists by nature” who “come from Mexico” to “plunder” the United States. According to Fischer, reaching out to Hispanics is a lost cause because the demographic supports Democrats not because of the party’s actual policies but because Hispanics want “goodies.” “Hispanics don’t vote Democrat because of immigration,” he explained. “That’s not the main reason why they vote for Democrats. It doesn’t have anything to do with lax
Comments: They can insinuate that he is a lunatic, but what he says is the absolute truth. Do the Republicans really think granting amnesty will make them vote Republican?? They are going for all the freebies they get in this country. Why wouldn´t they???
I object! This type of wild talk from a "conservative" is exactly what tars all of us and makes perfectly legal, good citizen Hispanics distrust and fear us.
It´s not about "goodies". We have to stop addressing Hispanics as if they are all illegal law-breakers.
To those who believe immigration reform means rounding up and sending to Mexico anyone of Hispanic heritage, regardless of who they are and whether their own generations were born here, I say we need their legal votes and we must show respect for them.
First of all, a lot of "good, legal Hispanics" agree with the Republican position on immigration. Secondly, are you going to have an amnesty every 5 or 10 years? And thirdly, what is telling the truth considered a rant?
Here in California, a lot of us view the talk of "Conservative Hispanics" just waiting to be wooed into the Republican Party "by the right message" with barely-controllable hilarity. Some, sure, just as we see the occasional black conservative arise from time to time. But most? No chance.
People hear this with their mouth agape because the truth is never said out loud. It needs to be said and open for debate. But the left and the pandering Republicans will shhhhhhhhh! For fear they will lose the remaining Hispanic voters. They´re willing to sell their souls to a lie if it gets votes.
Sorry, the truth hurts. Why the Republicans do not receive more votes than they do is provable if it can be studied, researched, polled and debated. But no one wants to hear the truth. BLACK AND HISPANIC VOTERS BLOCK VOTE DUE TO "TRIBAL" TYPE NATURES. Add to that the drumbeat of propaganda by the media and the desire for stuff and there you have it. it is what it is. Believe it.
This is not about ethnicity or culture, but about poverty. Everyone, regardless of color or origin, who is poor statistically votes for the big government safety net throughout the world. Who are the Mexicans that are coming here? Is it the rich oil men or the political/ruling class? Not hardly. The only ones who come here are the poverty class. They realize they won´t get much from their government, so they come here to get it from ours! There isn´t one single Pubbie reaching-out effort that will ever succeed. Unless, of course, we promise more goodies than the Dims. Fugetaboutit.
Rush received a call from a true conservative Hispanic originally from Mexico. He explained it perfectly. Most of the legal and illegal aliens come from a country where government controls the wealth. They come to this country with the same expectations and beliefs and vote accordingly - with the "big government" party, the RAT party. The state-run media enforces that belief. Giving the illegals amnesty will change nothing.
#6 says we need to reach out. That´s BS. Illegal aliens are nothing more than border jumpers, here for the goodies. They break the law when they sneak into the USA. Are you, number 6, in favor of appeasing blatant law breakers that illegally sneak across the border? Did you vote for Obama?
I´m not sure what´s wrong with treating Hispanics with respect and trying to get the legal residents to vote for Republicans. How does that make #6 an Obama supporter? I didn´t see anything about amnesty in his comment, or anything about the illegals at all.
Morons such as this fellow are killing any chance that conservatives can win in future. He doesn´t know all immigrants, but he seems perfectly willing to categorize them all. He´s a bigot, not a conservative.
I think that part of the outreach to Hispanic Americans should go something like this:
You or your ancestors left Mexico or some other Latin country because things were bad there. Why do you want to bring those bad things here? And if you do bring those bad thing here, isn´t that going to make life bad for you, too.
Why my grandfather came to the United States, he wanted ot be an American and resisted attempts by people to get him involved in Scottish organizations. He said that if he loved Scotland so much, he would have stayed there.
If you want to be an Amerian, great! Then be an American. If you love the crummy place you left so much, then stay there, but don´t try to bring it here.
#5: “White Europe came to America for the same reason -- to plunder.”
That’s BS. Some did. Most didn’t. Most came to escape the injustices of White-Old-Europe.
Don’t forget it was White-Old-Europe that bought the slaves from the Black-African-Slavers, who had been slaving for thousands of years and are still slaving to this very day, and then brought them first to the Caribbean.
Back to the discussion at hand!
I agree with most posters and the article.
As long as the GOP is conservative based, there is no way to win the Black or Hispanic vote. Please note that Cubans do not fit the ‘Hispanic’ mold.
Cubans understand the dangers of a Carter, Clinton or an Obama after living under Castro!
The Blacks, Hispanics and the so called Youth-Vote will continue voting for the lefties till a severe financial collapse puts there sorry butts between a hard place and a rock. That won’t happen in two years and probably not enough in four years.
I very strongly ask all American-Consumers to not spend one dollar on non-essential items/goods/services.
I very strongly ask all American-Businesses to not hire new employees or expand or buy new equipment and to also cut back on employee hours to avoid Obamacare and give the finger to that Fascist POS.
I very strongly ask the GOP House to acquiesce to Obama’s tax and spend demands and let the cards fall where they may even if Conservatives abandon them and we lose the house in 2014.
I believe that the only way to save America, after this disastrous loss, is for us to go through severe Financial/Social unrests to the point of making Grease look like a rainy day at the park!
Then maybe the rest of America will smarten up and not vote lefty!
I agree with this guy in a lot of respects, but Republicans have to differentiate between the term "Hispanics" and the illegal alien population. The term Hispanic covers a lot of people who have never been illegal aliens from anyplace. Why should US citizen Hispanic people get lumped in with illegal aliens as they are two separate groups of people. Many Hispanics living in the USA today don´t speak Spanish and don´t associate with illegal aliens.
The Republicans have been called the stupid party for a longtime now. The liberal Democrats and the socialist oriented ethnic and immigration rights activists are trying to bamboozle the stupid party to support a massive liberal Democrat inspired amnesty for 12-20 million illegal aliens with a path to citizenship which is liberal Democrat code for eventually granting the legalized aliens US voting rights.
If the stupid party goes along with that, they will be handing the liberal Democrats many millions of new foreign born socialist oriented voters in the years ahead, will never be able to get enough votes to win national elections, and will have committed long-term political suicide. The highly partisan liberal Democrats would not be proposing such a big amnesty if they thought that a more then a small percentage of legalized aliens would ever have an epifinany and vote for conservative Republicans. That is just not going to happen.
"They didn’t care about how they looked. It was just fierce indifference to human life that caused America to say enough is enough. ‘I don’t want to see it and I am not a part of it.’ What the hell! If you have to bomb little kids and send dogs out against human beings, give me a break." But Rangel had praise for a few Republicans. He mentioned New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, citing Christie´s criticism of House Republicans for delaying a vote on federal relief aid for states hit by Hurricane
The House voted Friday to prevent the IRS from enforcing any aspect of ObamaCare, a bill meant to exact revenge against an agency that Republicans say is incapable of neutral enforcement of the law. Members approved the Keep the IRS Off Your Health Care Act in a 232-185 vote. Four Democrats supported the bill along with every Republican. The vote capped off several days of work in the House on bills aimed at reining in government regulation and government overreach. House Democrats cast the votes as merely for show, given opposition from the White House and the Senate
The Los Angeles and Chicago metropolitan areas had the most gun murders among the nation’s fifty most-populous metropolitan areas in 2009 and 2010 (the latest years for which date is available), according to a report released today by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. During those two years, 1,141 people were gunned to death in the Los Angeles metropolitan area and 1,139 were gunned to death in the Chicago metropolitan area. The New York metropolitan area ranked third with 1,101 gun homicides. The Los Angeles, Chicago and New York metropolitan areas also ranked one,
Terrorist-supporting conservative uberhawk Rep. Peter King (R-New York), sounding very much like a man feeling left out of the Chris Christie vs. Rand Paul story, played the McCainesque America-Firster card against Paul Wednesday on CNN: [W]hat this reminds me of, someone like Senator Paul and others in that isolationist wing -- now, the Republicans had this debate back in the 1930s when you had the isolationists and the Charles Lindberghs that said we should appease Hitler. And the Democrats had it in the
EACH of us took turns over the past 43 years running the Environmental Protection Agency. We served Republican presidents, but we have a message that transcends political affiliation: the United States must move now on substantive steps to curb climate change, at home and internationally. There is no longer any credible scientific debate about the basic facts: our world continues to warm, with the last decade the hottest in modern records, and the deep ocean warming faster than the earth’s atmosphere. Sea level is rising. Arctic Sea ice is melting years faster than projected.
Let’s stipulate a fact: Most men cannot complete US Marine Corps combat training. Let’s stipulate another fact: Washing out trainees who cannot complete the training is one of the purposes of the training. Keep those who can complete it, weed out those who can’t. Let’s stipulate another fact: Washing out trainees who cannot complete the training saves lives by eliminating weak links in combat units. “Weak,” in the context of military combat training, encompasses physical and mental. Most people simply are not suited to military combat, male or female. The Pentagon is trying to integrate
Sen. John McCain appears cautiously optimistic that the House of Representatives will ultimately pass some kind of immigration reform — and says that the GOP is doomed in the 2016 presidential contest if the effort fails. “The crystal ball is a little cloudy because I think August is going to be a very seminal month,” he said, pointing out that members are back interacting with constituents and that a broad coalition of interest groups back comprehensive immigration reform. Mr. McCain was part of a bipartisan group that helped
The State Department issued a worldwide travel alert on Friday to U.S. citizens over an Al Qaeda terror threat, as the U.S. government prepared to close its embassies and consulates throughout the Muslim world this Sunday over security concerns. U.S. officials have not offered many details on the nature of the threat, but apparently are taking it seriously. John Bolton, former U.S. ambassador to the U.N., said the alert indicates the U.S. government must have some "pretty good information" about a possible threat. The travel alert issued Friday warned Americans of the
On Wednesday’s “Your World with Neil Cavuto,” House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa reacted to criticisms from conservative talk show host Mark Levin had made on the same program just 24 hours earlier. In that appearance, Levin suggested the House Republican leadership wasn’t doing its due diligence in investigating the scandals involving the Obama administration, including the Benghazi terrorist attacks and the targeted audits of the Internal Revenue Service. Issa explained to Cavuto that his investigators and his committee were doing its best to connect all the dots,
The House approved an amendment to legislation Friday that would prevent the White House from imposing a carbon tax without congressional approval. The lower chamber agreed to Rep. Steve Scalise’s (R-La.) amendment by a 237-176 vote, with 12 Democrats crossing the aisle to support it. The amendment was added to an underlying bill that would require Congress to OK regulations that carry a $100 million economic impact or greater. That bill is dead in its tracks in the Democratic-controlled Senate, and the White House has threatened to veto it. Scalise’s measure doesn’t
Congress can breath easy now since it won’t be subjected to the ironically titled Affordable Care Act. As I mentioned on Tuesday, according to the New York Times, many in Congress were “freaking out” about having to get their insurance through the Obamacare exchanges without the lavish subsidies that they usually benefit from as federal employees. Manhattan Institute’s Avik Roy has a good summary of the issue t:his morning. Here is a tidbit: According to John Bresnahan and Jake Sherman of Politico, President Obama has personally involved himself in the
I think she’s one of the most fascinating women of our time and this world,” confessed Bob Greenblatt, the chairman of NBC, as part of his announcement that his network is making a miniseries about former secretary of state Hillary Clinton, with Diane Lane in the starring role. Words are funny things. For instance, G.K. Chesterton once remarked that that the word “good” has many uses: “For example, if a man were to shoot his grandmother at a range of 500 yards, I should call him a good shot but not necessarily a good man.” So it is,
Colin Powell has admitted to exchanging ´very personal´ emails with a Romanian diplomat but denies having an affair with the much younger woman after a hacker threatened to release their intimate messages. The 76-year-old retired general told the Smoking Gun that he met Corina Cretu, 45, roughly 10 years ago when she was working as an assistant to the president of Romania. She is now a member of the European Parliament. ´After I left the Department of State in January 2005 we stayed in touch via email,´ he told TSG.
CNN has uncovered exclusive new information about what is allegedly happening at the CIA, in the wake of the deadly Benghazi terror attack. Four Americans, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens, were killed in the assault by armed militants last September 11 in eastern Libya. Sources now tell CNN dozens of people working for the CIA were on the ground that night, and that the agency is going to great lengths to make sure whatever it was doing, remains a secret. CNN has learned the CIA is involved in what one source calls an unprecedented attempt to keep the spy
Serial sexter Anthony Weiner’s wife partly blamed herself last year when her horndog husband confessed to her that he was at it again. Friends and family told People magazine that Huma Abedin was kicking herself at the time for bailing out of couples counseling and focusing more on their newborn baby boy. But, thanks to a new round of joint therapy that continues even now, the couple was able to put the relapse behind them. “They really became a unit, and she feels much closer to Anthony now,” a relative told the magazine. That’s a long way from how Abedin
The United States will temporarily shut down its embassies and consulates around the world Sunday, including those in Iraq, Afghanistan and Egypt, as a precautionary measure, the State Department said Thursday. State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf did not say how long the international installations would stay closed -- only that the decision was taken “out of an abundance of caution and care for our employees and others who may be visiting.” Sunday is a normal workday in many Arab and Middle Eastern countries. Embassies in Europe and Latin America would be shuttered that day anyway.
In preparation for the release of Oscar-bait film The Butler, Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey, and director Lee Daniels (Precious) sat down with Parade magazine. The film chronicles a butler (Whitaker) who works in the White House through seven administrations. Winfrey plays the butler’s wife. In the interview, Winfrey explained her sadness that so few Americans know about the history of the civil rights movement: “They don’t know diddly-squat. Diddly-squat.” She then said of the historic use of the n-word, “I always think of the millions of people who heard that as their last
American scientists claim the planet is undergoing one of the largest changes in climate in the past 65 million years. Climatologists at Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment have warned the likely rate of change over the next century will be at least 10 times quicker than any climate shift since the dinosaurs became extinct. If the trend continues at its current rapid pace, it will place significant stress on terrestrial ecosystems around the world, and many species will need to make behavioral, evolutionary or geographic adaptations to survive, they said.
[Video] Ouch. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie turned down an offer by Sen. Rand Paul to join him for a beer and bury the hatchet in their ongoing -- and very public -- feud. "I´m running for re-election in New Jersey. I don´t really have time for that at the moment," Christie said in an interview on a local radio station. The New Jersey governor said if he finds himself in Washington, "I´ll certainly look him up." But he added: "I don´t suspect I´ll be there anytime soon. I´ve got work to do here."
About 400 area retail and fast-food workers, together with colleagues nationally, participated in a strike Thursday to demand raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour. “If not $15, then something. I mean give us something. I work 36 hours a week and barely make enough to pay my rent, gas bill, light bill. It gets to the point where I barely have enough for lunch sometimes,” said Angel Richardson, 21, who works at McDonald’s. “I’m five months pregnant, what am I going to do in four months? I hope something changes.” The minimum wage is $7.25 nationally and $8.25
Oprah Winfrey said Americans by and large know “diddly-squat” about the history of the civil rights movement. The talk show queen and media mogul made her comments during the promotion of her new film, “The Butler,” about a black man who serves in that capacity through seven administrations at the White House. “They don’t know diddly-squat,” she said in a recent interview with Parade magazine. “Diddly-squat.” Ms. Winfrey also said that when she hears the N-word, she thinks of the “millions of people who heard that as their last word as they were hanging from a tree.”
The administration has popped the bubble of hope some small business had that switching to part-time staff would let them escape the high costs of Obamacare. The Small Business Administration on Thursday created a website to explain to businesses that the government will simply tally up the number of part-time employees firms have to determine if enough hours have been worked to essentially create a "full-time equivalent." Some smaller businesses had thought that if they could get under the 50 full-time employee cap that activates Obamacare by cutting full-time workers and hiring more part-time workers they would escape
Government workers in the city of Seattle have been advised that the terms "citizen" and "brown bag" are potentially offensive and may no longer be used in official documents and discussions. KOMO-TV reports that the city´s Office of Civil Rights instructed city workers in a recent internal memo to avoid using the words because some may find them offensive. "Luckily, we´ve got options," Elliott Bronstein of the Office for Civil Rights wrote in the memo obtained by the station. "For ´citizens,´ how about ´residents?´"
Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-NY) suggested on Friday morning that the tea party movement is comprised of the same types of people who fought against the civil rights movement during the 1960s. Speaking with the Daily Beast, Rangel said of the movement: “It is the same group we faced in the South with those white crackers and the dogs and the police. They didn’t care about how they looked. He added that the tea party movement can be defeated similar to how the civil rights movement eradicated Jim Crow mentality: “It was just fierce indifference to human life that caused
