The Real Housewives of Centcom
or Who Should Solve Benghazi?

Now we know why the Pentagon was built with five sides — its architect figured out what our military really wanted for its headquarters was not a conventional office building but a theater-in-the-round set for a French bedroom farce with all the doors ready to slam. I know — not funny. While history and personal observation provide enough instances of extramarital hanky-panky to keep the average adult, not to mention myriad novelists, filmmakers, and playwrights, busy for several lifetimes, we don’t want to think those tasked with being in charge of our national defense

Break out either the champagne or the sharpened stones, because it’s well past time that we found some sort of consensus on a question which has been chomping at our collective heels for the last two presidential election cycles. And with a bit of focus, we might actually come to some conclusions as to how we handle this before the Hillary/Christie Show sucks up all of the Nielson ratings. I speak, of course, of the now seemingly eternal battle over the GOP primary battle and the unending complaints that the party’s voters seem to keep electing squishy moderates

Nidal Hasan — the Fort Hood mass murderer now on trial — began his court martial defense with the statement that the evidence will show he is guilty. What the evidence will also show, by omission, is how our government institutions ignored the sort of evidence the NSA is supposedly looking for in its global search of telephone data, emails, and other electronic communication. In his Friday press conference, President Obama didn’t address that problem. Instead, he promised to have an independent panel of experts report on how to fix our intelligence gathering mechanisms. He began, as he always does,

The competition for the most loathsome news organization in the U.S is fierce. Based on their offenses against the basic tenets of journalism seen during just the past two weeks, some of which would have made the propagandists at the former Soviet Union’s Pravda blush, three lame losers — Politico, the Huffington Post, and the Associated Press — have emerged as leaders of the left agenda-promoting, Barack Obama keister-covering brigade. Politico is the trailblazer in frequently tailoring and even altering its coverage to minimize Obama administration embarrassment. The practice makes a mockery of its “Our Story” page promise

Obamacare, enacted more than three years ago, has been unraveling for over a year. And there’s a good reason for that: it was never intended to become law at all. Ordinarily one house of Congress passes a bill and the other house then substantially amends that bill or writes its own from scratch. No one worries too much about the actual language in these bills because they eventually go to a conference committee made up of both senators and representatives. There, the differences are ironed out and legislative draftsmen put the conference bill into final shape.

Remember the polar bear became an Internet sensation after starving to death because of global warming? One scientist is questioning this narrative, arguing that the polar bear’s death was used as a photo-op by global warming alarmists. “I suggest this is what really happened: the polar bear biologists working in Svalbard earlier this year knew this bear was going to die back in April when they captured him — they simply waited, with a photographer on hand, until he died. It was an orchestrated photo-op,” writes zoologist Dr. Susan Crockford on her blog Polarbearscience.com. Last Tuesday, the Guardian posted a picture

This week we’ve looked at seven potential contenders for the GOP nomination and what each needs to do to set himself up for a 2016 run. Right Turn will be back tomorrow, but we end our vacation series with the reasons why you don’t need to worry that a group of newcomers are going to be among the serious contenders in 2016. Certainly there will be candidates with little chance at the presidency, including Sens. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) and former senator Rick Santorum, who may be urged to run. I see no path

Awhile ago, my exasperated wife said: “Why don’t you take a week off from bashing the president and write about something else? Anything else.” And I said: “I want to, but he won’t let me. Just when you think he can’t do anything more amateurish than he did last week, bam, he rises to the challenge again and hits new levels of futility and incompetence.” So it is yet again. And this first part is going to sound made-up, but I swear to you it is not. During the 2008 campaign, Sen. Barack Obama traveled the country

U.S. condemns Iraq bombing wave,

BAGHDAD - Gun attacks and a bombing killed at least seven more people in Iraq on Sunday, police said, after a day of carnage aimed mainly at Shi´ite Muslims celebrating the end of Ramadan. The United States condemned a wave of car bombings which police and medical sources said killed nearly 80 people across Iraq on Saturday, saying those who had attacked civilians during Eid al-Fitr festivities were "enemies of Islam". Bombs tore through markets, shopping streets and parks late on Saturday as Iraqi families were out celebrating the end of the Muslim fasting month.

The “phony scandal” at the IRS keeps growing. E-mail correspondence unearthed by the House Ways and Means Committee reveals that Lois Lerner, the figure at the center of the scandal, may have committed a felony by divulging information about a conservative group to the Federal Election Commission, in an incident that dates back at least to 2008, before President Obama took office. Though some conservatives have eagerly sought evidence that Obama’s White House instigated the IRS’s targeting of tea-party groups, the latest evidence suggests that an anti-conservative bias may instead be an endemic feature of the federal bureaucracy.

What ice cream did they eat? What bookstore did they visit? Is John Kerry taking them out on the Isabella? Will there be a Kennedy sighting? Will Lizzy Warren wear her red blazer on the Vineyard? Despite going on parade with a beautiful woman half his age, 30-year-old entrepreneur Shauna Mei, 68-year-old Gen. Wesley Clark isn’t yet divorced from his wife of 46 years. The retired US Army general and former NATO Supreme Allied Commander filed for divorce from his wife Gertrude Kingston Clark — whom he married in 1966 — last year. But the divorce trial date set for May 1 this year was delayed, sources exclusively tell Page Six, and as of press time, no final divorce was announced, so their negotiations are likely still ongoing. We’re told Clark met Mei,

You know things are messed up for the GOP when Gov. Chris Christie is the only Republican who leads Hillary Clinton in Georgia! Christie is at the top of the 2016 Republican presidential scrum and, for the moment, he even leads Sen. Rand Paul in Live Free or Die New Hampshire (PDF). The governor of reliably Blue New Jersey and possessor of an outsize personality, he commands attention. Yet, none of this guarantees Christie the nomination. Electability is not the same as nominability. He just needs to ask another Northeast Catholic executive who was also once deemed electable:

Appearing on This Week With George Stephanopoulos, Republican Congressman Louie Gohmert battled not only the Democratic panelists but also conservative pundit George Will over the wisdom of shutting down the government to prevent Obamacare funding. Gohmert strongly condemned President Barack Obama’s argument at Friday’s news conference that the GOP’s “holy grail” was enying millions of people health insurance. “That’s a false narrative,” Gohmert said. “He says we’re trying to keep people from having health care. During his Wednesday appearance on Jay Leno´s "Tonight Show,´ President Obama made three factual gaffes; one of them involved the claim that cities not found along the Gulf of Mexico are. Were Obama a Republican, these gaffes would have led news coverage for the next forty-eight hours. Not only did most of the media ignore or downplay these gaffes; the Associated Press went so far as to cover one of them up. In its coverage Thursday, rather than point out the president´s geographical error, the wire service made it look as though no error was made.

The taxpayer-supported Missouri State Fair is getting a lot of negative publicity in social media Sunday following a report of a shameful stunt that occurred Saturday night in Sedalia. Things got worse from there, which doesn’t surprise me, given the anti-Obama feeling among many fairgoers from rural Missouri, where Obama lost to Mitt Romney (at least 60-40 percent in much of outlying parts of state)

Ames, Iowa — Donald Trump delivered a blistering attack on Mitt Romney’s campaign today. “I don’t know what the hell happened with his campaign,” Trump said in a speech at The Family Leader Summit. “I just don’t get it. That was an election that couldn’t have been lost.” “Every single state that they asked me to go or do some phone calls or some television, we won in the primaries,” Trump remarked. But he also criticized what the campaign had initially wanted him to say in robocalls. “They gave me this most pathetic thing to say. I said,

During a press conference yesterday, President Obama revealed the existence of a sealed indictment in the Benghazi attacks in Libya on September 11, 2012, leaving some experts questioning whether the president broke the law. Federal law states that ´no person may disclose [a sealed] indictment´s existence,´ and that doing so may be ´punished as a contempt of court,´ a charge that carries a minimum sentence of six months prison. The announcement came as a surprise to some insiders, as the existence of a sealed indictment has not been publicly confirmed or denied by law enforcement or

I made it clear that your veteran’s benefits are exempt from this year’s sequester,” the president said to the applause of hundreds at the Disabled American Veterans´ convention in Orlando, Fla. “But I want to tell you going forward the best way to protect the VA care you have earned is to get rid of this sequester altogether.”

Potential 2016 presidential contender Donald Trump spoke to ABC’s Jonathan Karl Sunday morning and reignited the birther issue that he helped spark back in 2011, questioning the legitimacy of Barack Obama’s birth certificate and wondering whether Ted Cruz, who was born in Canada, was eligible to president. “Was there a birth certificate?” Trump asked. “You tell me. Some people say that was not his birth certificate. I’m saying I don’t know. Nobody knows. And you don’t know, either, Jonathan. You’re a smart guy, you don’t know, either.” “I’m pretty convinced he was born in the United States,” Karl said.
