Poll: If government careens off fiscal
cliff, GOP to shoulder blame

NBC News, by Michael O´Brien

If the U.S. government ends up careening off the "fiscal cliff," Republicans in Congress stand to shoulder most of the blame, according to a new poll released Tuesday. A majority of Americans said in a new, post-election poll that they do not expect President Barack Obama and members of Congress to reach an agreement to avoid the effects of the fiscal cliff, the combination of automatic spending cuts and tax hikes set to take effect at the beginning of the year.

This is the reason ALL Republicans should vote "present" on every single piece of the democrats agenda. That´s the ONLY way we can´t be blamed - we didn´t oppose anything, nor can anything be called bipartisan.

This is exactly what the O admin was looking for. This way they Tax 100% of working Americans so they can redistribute it to their favored groups. And this is only the beginning of what they are going to do.

Let it be so. Washington does not work correctly anymore. Maybe it never did.

There is zero chance the Washington establishment can fix their fundamental malfunction. It would require they successfully perform brain surgery upon themselves. And I include the GOP with the Democrats in the term "establishment".

The train wrecks will continue until there are no more trains. Then those who built the trains will be blamed.

No matter what the GOP does they will be blamed. Even if all elected officials were democrat they would still blame the GOP and Bush. So I say be as obstructionist as possible to Obama and his socialist plans. Let them scream.

Wait, I thought Obama told us the Repubs were just standing sipping Slurpees while he pushed the car toward the cliff.

Let´s not forget, Pelosi and Reed were in charge the last two of W´s administration. The Dems have had functional control of the Government for six years.

Between that and O´s re-election, spending and failed picks (Solyndra)they OWN the fiscal cliff.

John Boehner is not the problem. Replace him and all of a sudden that person will have an image problem as well.

I keep flashing back to a moment before the election when the Morning Joe crew were literally cracking up laughing that conservatives cared about Benghazi. We can argue that the sky is blue and the establishment will successfully ridicule that position. They´ve won dirty. Let them have their victory. Cede the field and pretty soon Dems will be arguing for fewer tax cuts and cuts in spending. The smart ones know what´s coming if they don´t.

If you want to be scared, read the comments following the article. NO ONE seems to have a clue as to how our government works. All they know is that their messiah cannot be wrong, so it must be the Republicans who are making such a mess of the country.

Ohio is cutting food stamps this week after the election. Benghazi, if anyone responding to the article knows what "Libya" is, and the loss of jobs, and the fall of the stock market, the Russians and Moslems getting stronger and stronger, the printing of money, inflation, the housing market. All the fault of the Republicans??

The Republicans need to hire an excellent publicity agency and get busy speaking the language of the masses...but in conservative ideas. They all believe whatever they hear on their tv´s, ipods, whatever. May as well tell them some truth.

Reply 29 - Posted by: Heraclitus, 11/13/2012 5:13:51 PM     (No. 9012104)

no surprise.

Again, Republicans --CONSERVATIVES-- must, absolutely must, educate the public.

Think of the perennially low ratings for Congress, and yet the same people return year after year (with some exceptions).

People don´t know how Congress works. They have no clue about the three Branches of Government, and why the Founders set up the complex and cumbersome arrangement, why they wanted things to slow down in the Senate, and the People´s House to be the place for (rowdy) debate.

We know, however, that the Dem/Lefties control the media. Overcoming this handicap will be difficult, but we´ve got to try. Start with our own little corner, the co-workers, friends, parents of kids´ friends; at the market, the games, the parent-teacher meetings, etc etc.

We can not depend on politicians to do all the work.

Then, we must find a way to ensure fair and honest elections. We all know that there was more massive fraud than ever before.

MUMBAI — India hanged a man on Saturday who had been convicted of involvement in the 2001 attack on Parliament that killed nine people. The execution drew protests from human rights groups concerned about the growing use of capital punishment in such cases.

Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank
