President Obama’s re-election and Democratic gains in the US Senate end any possibility of repealing the Obama health law. It will roll out as written, imposing major changes soon on you and your family. If you are uninsured because you can’t afford it, help may be on the way. But if you are one of the 250 million Americans with coverage, there are big problems ahead. If you get your health insurance through a job, you might lose it as of Jan. 1, 2014. That’s when the new “employer mandate” kicks in, requiring employers with 50 or more full-time workers to provide the government-designed health plan or pay a fine. The government plan is so expensive, it adds $1.79 per hour to the cost of a full-time employee. That’s incidental if you're hiring neurosurgeons but a hefty increase for hiring busboys and sales clerks. Source name spelled out, content added by staff

Comments: Thank you Obama voters - in addition to degrading the quality of the world´s best health care system, you are also burdening employers with yet another upaid-for entitlement the American people didn´t ask for that represents 1/6th of the total economy. The market has spoken, dropping 400 pts since Election Day and sparking a string of layoffs from all sectors. My friends - we will look back at the days of 8% unemployment as the good old days.

I can´t imagine the vast mind trick anyone could play on themselves to have EVER forgotten the horrible healthcare mess and the way it was foisted by this incompetent person upon a once-free country. Obama voters owe an apology to the founders of this country and her defenders through the years

Our republic died on November 6, 2012.
NØbamacare is just another rotting festering sore on the rotting carcas of what is left of our nation.
It will soon implode under the weight of it´s own socialist excesses and rot.
RIP USA! 236 years was a pretty good run...

Are there any lawmakers out there with the courage to push a law mandating all federal employees - (that includes all 3 branches of govn) - must participate under the Obamacare plan? No more special treatment for federal employees? After all, doesn`t the 14th Amendment mandate equal treatment under the law?

We´re one of these losing our coverage Jan 2014. I have two kids with TI Diabetes (or auto-immune diabetes) and I don´t know what we´re going to do. It would cost us $2500 a month to not only keep them alive but give them the best quality of life we can. They both have insulin pumps, CGMs and blood glucose monitors. We´re looking at them losing their pumps, losing the CGMs and testing far less often. How do I do that to them? How do I tell my 17 yr old who has been on an insulin pump since he was not quite 5 years old you have to go on shots? How do I tell my 10 year old you have to go back on shots? I am angry, no FURIOUS at what the party of the free crap voters have done to my family!

I will go along with #12 on this one. To that end, everyone must do their part: to the extent possible, make sure you´re in the pool with no insurance. The more weight we can pile on this camel, the better.
To be sure, there will be plenty of medical service available, you´ll just have to look in different places for it and be prepared to pay cash. These are different times we´re in and they call for different measures. Take care of yourself.

Sorry to burst your bubble, %12, but look what Canada and Great Britain have done. They´ve cut back services. Michael Moore may have been psychic -- it won´t take long before Cuba really does have better medical care than the U.S. And the ones who are going to complain the loudest are the ones who the Dems claimed they were going to help. They aren´t going to be happy campers when they have to sit in a waiting room for 2 days before they see a doctor.

As a conservative, southern, pro-life, white Christian man I know I won´t even get a slot in the waiting list to have my case considered by a death panel. When this happens I will be sure to let my two lame-brained sisters and goofy BIL who I know voted for this socialist poseur know exactly what is happening and who is to blame. I may die a bitter old man, but perhaps they will finally realize a bit of guilt and shame for what they helped do to me.
Sorry, but I´m feeling pretty despondent about this whole mess today.

Jesse Jackson was on America’s Newsroom today to discuss gun control. Jackson said assault weapons are a threat to national security. Jackson also said gun manufacturers should be held responsible for shootings.“These semi-automatic weapons, these assault weapon, can only kill people and in fact are threats to national security. The young man who did the killing in Aurora, Colorado with the arsenal he had. He was right near the airport, right near the runways near the airport in Denver. He could shoot down airplanes. so this is a matter of homeland security… We need to make manufacturers more accountable for their product.“ Headline split, content added by staff

In a new television ad, the Obama campaign mocks Mitt Romney’s promise to end the federal subsidy to PBS: “Bernie Madoff. Ken Lay. Dennis Kozlowski. Criminals. Gluttons of greed,” the Obama campaign's dramatic voice over says. “And the evil genius who towered over them?” The video shows a silhouette of the large feathered creature from Sesame Street: “Big Bird,” Romney says. The announcer moves in for the kill: "Mitt Romney knows it’s not Wall Street you have to worry about, it’s Sesame Street. Mitt Romney. Taking on our enemies, no matter where they nest.

Sen. John McCain says he doesn´t understand the threats from some of his Republican colleagues to filibuster a bill on background checks to buy guns. "I don´t understand it," the Arizona Republican said on Sunday of the threat coming from Sen. Rand Paul,Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. Mike Lee and nine other Republicans. "The purpose of the United States Senate is to debate and to vote and to let the people know where we stand.” "What are we afraid of? ... If this issue is as important as we all think it is, why not take ... it up and debate?"

Michelle Obama has admitted that she is already tired of the bangs she first sported in January. The First Lady said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight: ´Bangs are a day-by-day proposition. They´re starting to grow out, get a little irritating.´ Still, she hasn´t let her hairdo woes get her down. ´It´s okay,´ she said after her initial complaint. ´We´ll be good.´ The first indication that her hairstyle was becoming a burden came about last weekend, when Malia, 14, was spotted adjusting her mother´s hair during the White House Easter Egg Roll.

President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. But I´ve long felt we lack a solid theoretical underpinning for easily discussing these issues, and why precisely it is that

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

On Friday, Sean Hannity brought Pat Smith, mother of the late Sean Smith, on his radio program. The 34-year-old information management officer was one of four Americans murdered in the Benghazi embassy attack on September 11, 2012. In the chilling interview, a distraught Ms. Smith, in tears, pleaded for answers and spoke of the efforts to silence her. Ms. Smith first relayed how her son, prior to the attack, requested additional security in advance and warned the State Department: He did tell them, ahead of time, he typed it into his little typewriter over there,

Los Angeles — Some people have had it with TV. They´ve had enough of the 100-plus channel universe. They don´t like timing their lives around network show schedules. They´re tired of $100-plus monthly bills. A growing number of them have stopped paying for cable and satellite TV service, and don´t even use an antenna to get free signals over the air. (Snip) Last month, the Nielsen Co. started labeling people in this group "Zero TV" households, because they fall outside the traditional definition of a TV home. There are 5 million of these residences in the U.S., up from

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank

No one is more preoccupied these days with Hillary Clinton´s 2016 plans than the Beltway political class—not even the former presidential candidate herself. To hear some tell it, her decision will be dispositive for all other Democrats thinking of entering the race. And pundits and reporters aren´t the only ones positing the "The Hillary Factor": No less than the House Democratic whip, Steny Hoyer, told BuzzFeed, “I don´t know that anybody would run against Hillary…. If she runs, she clears the field.” It´s an understandable conclusion, given Clinton´s stature in the Democratic Party and her 70 percent

Susan Patton, the Princeton alumna who became famous for her letter urging Ivy League women to use their college years to find a mate, has been denounced as a traitor to feminism, to coeducation, to the university ideal. But really she’s something much more interesting: a traitor to her class. Her betrayal consists of being gauche enough to acknowledge publicly a truth that everyone who’s come up through Ivy League culture knows intuitively —

The couple, who married on April 4, 2008, took in the sights of Old Havana, visited a school, dined on a rooftop terrace and strolled the fan-filled streets in their island best.(snip).The power couple declined to answer journalists´ questions about their visit to the island nation, but some outlets are reporting that the moguls are there as tourists, though that would be illegal because of the half-century embargo the U.S. has on the Communist country.
