If so, think what this would mean should we attach this device to our "elected" officials (i.e. politicians).

I wonder: if you hooked one of these people up to a lie detector and asked them questions would you be able to tell if they were understanding you? Maybe they wouldn´t be able to speak, but the same reactions that cause the detector´s needles to move could tell you what they´re thinking about yes or no questions.

The last sentence of that quote is the most important - why didn´t medical staff accept the signs his parents saw? Sounds to me like they didn´t want to admit the guy might have some awareness - probably makes their day easier to think their "patients" are just lumps in bed instead of human beings.

This story should be so encouraging to Christians as we speak the Gospel to patients who doctors say are already gone. Never stop telling the truth to the ones you love; they very well could be listening and hanging on every word you say.

What´s really evil and gruesome about the Schiavo case is that she was denied food AND WATER and took about 13 days to die a horrible death. From Wikipedia: President Bush and Congressional Republicans anticipated Greer´s adverse ruling well before it was delivered and worked on a daily basis to find an alternative means of overturning the legal process by utilizing the authority of the United States Congress.
