Obama considering John Kerry
for job of defense secretary

Washington Post, by Karen DeYoung & Greg Miller

Original Article

President Obama is considering asking Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.) to serve as his next defense secretary, part of an extensive rearrangement of his national security team that will include a permanent replacement for former CIA director David H. Petraeus. Although Kerry is thought to covet the job of secretary of state, senior administration officials familiar with the transition planning said that nomination will almost certainly go to Susan E. Rice, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. John O. Brennan, Obama’s chief counterterrorism adviser, is a leading contender for the CIA job if he wants it,

Kerry´s appointment would prove the contempt that Obama holds for the military.

I´ve never seen a picture of JFing Kerry with a smile. He always seems to have such a long face. Seriously, if 0bozo intends to destroy his own military, Kerry would be an excellent choice.

Another way of viewing this is that Obama actually respects our military so much that he believes that it can currently repel any attack on Israel. It sure looks like every move that the makes is toward killing our military´s ability to defend Israel.

Just saying´

Jean Francois should have been prosecuted when he went to Paris as a junior officer to "negotiate" with the North Vietnamese.

When that pompous gasbag traitor becomes SecDef then Jane Fonda ought to be Secretary of State.

If Obama´s trying to diminish this country in every conceivable way, he´s doing a bang-up job of it.

If this mother of all travesties actually happens, the first official act of his tenure should be to have "DOD" branded on his treasonous behind with a hot iron. That way he´ll have a legitimate "seared in his mind" experience. If it is done on Christmas eve, all the better.

Venezuela´s government said on Wednesday it may not be possible to embalm the remains of late leader Hugo Chavez as planned because the process should have been started earlier. Chavez died last week aged 58 after a two-year battle with cancer. His body has been on display in a glass-topped coffin at a grandiose military academy in the capital Caracas, where millions of people have filed past to pay homage.

The GOP´s chances of winning the White House in 2016 are linked more closely to the political fortunes of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie than those of Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida. Rubio is the Tea Party wunderkind who was tapped by Republicans to give the GOP response to President Obama's State of the Union Address. He began his retort with a dusted off reference to his parents' emigration from Cuba to the United States. During his political ascendancy in Florida, Rubio often talked of how his mom and dad fled that Caribbean island after Fidel Castro came to power in 1959.

Fairfax, VA – The group Americans for Limited Government has urged a House subcommittee to defund the West Point Combating Terrorism Center (CTC) after it released a study on terrorism that the organization’s president, William Wilson said is targeted against regular Americans. “Not one more dime of taxpayer money should be wasted on CTC, which is indoctrinating our servicemen and women with brazen propaganda against the American people until this report is denounced and its author terminated from government service,” Wilson wrote in a letter to members of

President Obama´s remarks today about the so-called "fiscal cliff" set the stage for a showdown with Congress likely to last for the next few months. Obama set one line in the sand: revenue. He announced that he would compromise with Republicans, but would not give up his insistence that high-income Americans pay more taxes as part of any long-term deficit solution. Interestingly, Obama´s remarks were not predicated on the assumption that the two sides would strike a deal before January. In fact he assumed they would not, and his message was designed to be repeated through the new year.

Relieved to see the long, costly 2012 presidential race end? The 2016 campaign is closer than you think. In some subtle ways, the jockeying to succeed Barack Obama or Mitt Romney already has begun. Democrats know they'll need a new standard bearer regardless of whether Obama is re-elected, and there are plenty of possibilities -- from Hillary Rodham Clinton to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Michelle Obama has admitted that she is already tired of the bangs she first sported in January. The First Lady said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight: ´Bangs are a day-by-day proposition. They´re starting to grow out, get a little irritating.´ Still, she hasn´t let her hairdo woes get her down. ´It´s okay,´ she said after her initial complaint. ´We´ll be good.´ The first indication that her hairstyle was becoming a burden came about last weekend, when Malia, 14, was spotted adjusting her mother´s hair during the White House Easter Egg Roll.

Sen. John McCain says he doesn´t understand the threats from some of his Republican colleagues to filibuster a bill on background checks to buy guns. "I don´t understand it," the Arizona Republican said on Sunday of the threat coming from Sen. Rand Paul,Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. Mike Lee and nine other Republicans. "The purpose of the United States Senate is to debate and to vote and to let the people know where we stand.” "What are we afraid of? ... If this issue is as important as we all think it is, why not take ... it up and debate?"

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

The 34-year-old information management officer was one of four Americans murdered in the Benghazi embassy attack on September 11, 2012. In the chilling interview, a distraught Ms. Smith, in tears, pleaded for answers and spoke of the efforts to silence her. Ms. Smith first relayed how her son, prior to the attack, requested additional security in advance and warned the State Department: He did tell them, ahead of time, he typed it into his little typewriter over there,

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank

Her betrayal consists of being gauche enough to acknowledge publicly a truth that everyone who’s come up through Ivy League culture knows intuitively —

Gluten-free diets are all the rage, but they can be dangerous if not done right. What is gluten? It´s the spongy complex of proteins, found naturally in wheat, rye, and barley, that gives elasticity to dough and allows it to rise. When flour is moistened and either kneaded or mixed into dough, gluten molecules form an elastic, microscopic latticework that traps the carbon dioxide produced when yeast ferments, causing dough to inflate like a hot air balloon. Baking hardens the gluten, which helps the finished product keep its shape. Wheat — and gluten — is ubiquitous in the American diet.

Newtown killer Adam Lanza may have launched his murder spree at Sandy Hook Elementary School as an “act of revenge,” the Daily News has learned. A close friend of Lanza’s mother told The News that the troubled boy was a target of relentless bullying when he attended the Connecticut school years ago. “I think Adam felt betrayed by the school and this was his act of revenge,” said Marvin LaFontaine, a friend of Nancy Lanza’s. “Nancy told me he was being picked on at school. That they were just torturing him.”
