A Pyrrhic Victory for America’s Youth
National Review Online, by Scott W. Atlas

Dancing in Chicago, young voters gleefully celebrated President Obama’s victory. Indeed, voters younger than 30 may well have changed the outcome of the race. They represented 19 percent of all voters, even more than they did in 2008, and they favored President Obama by 60 to 37 percent, according to exit polling. One college student asked me, “What exactly are they so excited about?” Presumably, they aren’t celebrating their job prospects. Under this administration, unemployment of younger Americans and recent college graduates is not very different from the scandalous unemployment rates of youth in failing European countries

Maybe they think that obamacare means free health care? Maybe they think that now film stars and music pop stars will want them to hang out with them? Maybe they won´t have to pay back student loans? Maybe they were waving around their arms just to show of their new tattoos.

Bless them. Just not a whit of common sense.

Very few of the college aged students that voted would have received a passing grade in the high school civics class I took in 1976. Here´s an example of who is deciding our fate.

Open letter to Obama voters:

All of you who voted for Obama have done so preaching “good intentions”.

However there are unintended consequences. The under 40 demographic voted to direct Washington to disinherit them, tax their retired parent´s dividend income that they are living on, force small business employees to fire employees and NEVER grow beyond where they are right now.

The “Taxed” pay for government services that the “Untaxed” use and yet they are accused of NOT paying their fair share. For every government job created, 5 private sector jobs need to be create to cover the salary with those tax receipts. Washington has failed to create that environment on Main Street so they borrow without conscience and our children’s financial future is savaged!

Charities will now receive less in contributions because Washington has confiscated those donations to spend on government waste in the form of higher taxes without any conscience and lack of fiduciary responsibility (continued).

(continued)(open letter to Obama supporters)

Congress collects 1 million dollar pensions, have their own Cadillac health care plans, refuses to be audited and has create a 16 trillion dollar accumulated deficit and also a 120 trillion dollar unfunded liability fiasco.

This is all been able to occur because the Media and the MSM have successfully demonized ANYONE who just wants to balance the budget and characterized them as haters using the Progressive Hate-Cards of Class | Faith | Gender | Race | and political party.

This march to Big Government will culminate into complete collapse of America just like Rome. Your vote will be held to account in the upcoming elections in 2014 and 2016. The two party system is financially devastating the middle class and but you continue to be a willing participant in this atrocity. I am closing my business of 28 years because of the 28% of voters (like you) who voted for Obama. My two employees will also be unemployed because of your vote.

Your conscience will haunt you because you believed the thieves on Wall Street and the idiots in Washington. I did not! But please continue to outsource your thinking and destroy America. For me, I will continue to advocate less government and more Freedom!

It disturbs me that so many of these young people seemed so unmarked by life. Their faces show no signs of having ever had to worry about anything.

I wonder how many are still being subsidized by parents and grandparents?

The day after the election one of these charming creatures called on behalf of my alma mater. I don´t think she liked what I told her.

The protesters in Venezuela do not seek anything extraordinary: They demand to be secure in their homes and their persons, they demand an end to current shortages of staple foods and other goods in the country, and they demand the right to free speech. That these things should be considered a challenge to the Maduro regime is what is extraordinary, along with the regime’s brutal response to the protests — both speak to the character of the current Venezuelan government. If honoring such basic human decencies requires a regime change in Caracas, that is more a reflection on the current

WASHINGTON — President Obama plans to announce on Tuesday the opening of two new manufacturing institutes in the Chicago and Detroit areas as part of a larger plan to use public-private partnerships to advance his agenda despite opposition from Republicans in Congress. Several federal agencies will join forces with companies and universities to run the institutes, which will be devoted to bridging the gap between applied research and product development, according to an administration official familiar with the plans. Each institute will function as a “teaching factory,” the official said, and will provide training for workers while also helping companies get the

Outstanding student debt again topped $1 trillion in the fourth quarter of 2013, making it the second-largest pool of debt in the nation behind mortgages. This has tripled in just a decade, as higher-education prices increased faster than medical costs, up 500 percent since 1985. While delinquency rates for all loans have trended downward for the past three years, student loan delinquencies have surged; currently 11.5 percent of all student loans are 90 days behind or more. Every student of American religious history has heard of the event known as “the Great Disappointment.” In 1818 William Miller, a former naval captain turned lay Baptist preacher, developed a new method for calculating biblical chronology to arrive at the conclusion that the millennium would take place sometime between 1842 and 1844. Finally published in 1832, Miller’s thesis quickly drew attention. A sect began to form, spreading from Miller’s home region in Eastern New York to New England and beyond. Millerism was born. The time was drawing nigh, Miller preached, when a dreadful cataclysm would occur, to be followed by

The students were the first to protest against the regime of President Viktor Yanukovych on the Maidan, the central square in Kiev, last November. These were the Ukrainians with the most to lose, the young people who unreflectively thought of themselves as Europeans and who wished for themselves a life, and a Ukrainian homeland, that were European. Many of them were politically on the left, some of them radically so. After years of negotiation and months of promises, their government, under President Yanukovych, had at the last moment failed to sign a major trade agreement with the European Union. When the

SACRAMENTO — A “right” is an “entitlement” that’s not dependent on the whims of authorities. If you have a right to “free speech,” then you can speak as you choose. The courts let the government enforce a few standards, but it wouldn’t be a “right” if government officials got to preview and restrict what you were planning to say. That’s obvious, especially when it involves activities that are widely supported. It’s hard to find Americans who don’t agree with letting individuals have the widest latitude to speak and protest. But this apparently simple concept gets muddied with rights that are
