| WASHINGTON — A brewing and potentially bitter fight over Democratic efforts to curb filibusters is threatening to inflame partisan tensions in the Senate, even as President Barack Obama and Republicans explore whether they can compromise on top tier issues such as debt reduction and taxes. A potential showdown vote to limit Senate filibusters would not come until January. Democrats are threatening to resort to a seldom-used procedure that could let them change the rules without GOP support, all but inviting Republican retaliation. That fight is looming as the newly re-elected Obama and GOP leaders prepare to use the lame-duck session

This is a howler:

"..sour feelings"? Ya think? Of course there will be "sour feelings" -- that´s now new: When one Party wants to cut the other Party out of negotiations and when it pretends to listen and be bi-partisan, sour feelings is the least that will ensue.
I hope the sour feelings blossom into outright contempt, to be candid. And I hope, probably beyond hope, that Republicans will publicly stand up and call Ms. Jarret, Mr. Obama, Ms. Waters, Mr. Sanders and all the other communists in our governments about what their true agenda is. Get it on the record, televise it, get spies into meetings. Get the word out.
Too many American voters on both sides don´t understand the dire situation we are in. Changing filibuster rules, which is typical of Democrats, would cripple our ability to stymie creeping communism.
It cannot be allowed. We´re Greece-bound and somewhere along the line, courage will be needed. The GOP has not been reliably courageous except for the newer crop of
Tea Party Republicans.

The Democrats need a little reminder. There will be 20 Democrat Senators up for reelection in 2014, including those in Arkanasa, Lousiana, South Dakota and North Carolina. Of the 13 Republicans only one is from a blue state-Maine. Other Democrats include a couple of dinosuars in Frank Lautenberg and Jay Rockefeller. The sixth year of an administration is usually not kind for the party holding the White House.

In light of the explosions that have rocked Boston on Patriots’ Day, during the city’s annual marathon, NBC reporter Luke Russert took to Twitter to speculate that today’s horrific events could possibly be related to the 1993 government siege on the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas — an incident often attached to conversations about “right-wing terrorism” and anti-government violence. “I was at Fenway Park w my dad and @mikebarnicle during Waco which was on Patriots Day in 1993. CNN national security analyst Peter Bergen told host Jake Tapper on Monday that the explosions in Boston could be the work of Al Qaeda terrorists as much as they could be part of a planned assault by “right-wing extremists.” Bergen said he was reminded of the Oklahoma City bombing, and that terrorism on the right could not be ruled out. Tapper asked Bergen if he thought there was a terrorist element behind the attack, to which Bergen replied that this event reminded of the 1995 attack on a federal building in Oklahoma City.

Yet until late last week, much of the national media was silent as testimony about Gosnell’s alleged “house of horrors” abortion clinic rolled out. Much of the media attention outside Philadelphia, in fact, centered on how little media attention the story was receiving outside Philadelphia.
