Central Intelligence Agency Director David Petraeus has resigned, citing an extra-marital affair, NBC News reported. "Yesterday afternoon, I went to the White House and asked the President to be allowed, for personal reasons, to resign from my position," Petraeus said in his resignation letter. "After being married for over 37 years, I showed extremely poor judgment by engaging in an extramarital affair. Such behavior is unacceptable, both as a husband and as the leader of an organization such as ours." "This afternoon, the President graciously accepted my resignation," Petraeus said in the letter. Well was the "extra" a man or a woman? Did the general keep his socks on? These details are always important-- especially when we are going over a financial cliff like an anvil in a Wile E. Coyote cartoon.
tee hee hee #6 Like he's going to turn states evidence!! This president is untouchable and the dear general will fall on his sword and take "credit" for all the nefarious decisions that went on regarding Benghazi.
then, our ever incompetent Darell ISSA will proclaim, "CASE CLOSED!!!"
Lets all move on now and reach across the aisle and pony up more taxes for everyone!!! What a happy 4 years these will be!!!
Who cares? Anyone this stupid deserves what he gets. He didn't KNOW that everything he does is watched by 1) the Americans, 2) the Russians, 3) the Chinese, and 4) the Israelis. This was probably the worst kept secret in the world intelligence committee. Was he set up? You betcha!
She offered her honor. He honored her offer. From that time on... Honor and offer.
Why can't men think before they do this? It is a career-buster unless you are Jesse Jackson or his son. It takes a wife and trashes her--see Hillary Clinton. It is immoral and if you are the head of the CIA, it compromises the trust people should have for you. It paints you as a liar and a cheat (See Bill Clinton) and nobody but the liberals will ever believe anything you ever say again. Petraeus is an idiot. Did he think he could keep this sort of behavior secret? People always tell. Stupid!!!
I believe a couple of things - first, General Patraeus was smart enough to release this on a Friday; second, he is a great, great soldier where country comes first; thirdly, there are men who would follow him to the gates of hell; fourth, an affair is a badge of honor among dems - we all come short of the glory of God - see above poster on MO of axelgrease; fifth, the dems play to destroy and to win at all costs, even at the expense of a great soldier; and, lastly, the MSM will dig thru his trash and try to find the other woman.
Why would anyone devote his life to his country only to be dragged thru the mud like this - OK, so we all sin and he came clean about it. Why would any young soldier aspire to greatness?
We're cutting the military back to its bare bones so when they are needed, they will manage with less and less to be successful and try to protect us.
My brain, without giving a reason, connects the General's resignation with the eviction of the Winston Churchill bust. Brain says Obama just couldn't stand to have Petraeus around just like he couldn't stand to have the bust around.
My very first thought was that he called their bluff. Maybe he was having an affair, but maybe he decided to blow them out of the water by admitting it. maybe he has enough Benghazi evidence to do some real damage. Too weird.
So what does the Devil (for those who still believe a dark force called the Prince of the Earth exists)have in common with this those in this story? He uses them and when they have given him their all, he destroys them in delight.
If Satan didn't own the world and the nations, how could he offer the Lord or Lords that perk on the Temple spires.
Luckily he has no power in the other Kingdom, the Kingdom of light, not to menton hope and peace. RIP General.
An affair with Senator Elect Liz Warren's assistant? What a small world, thought it might be a Russian or Iranian spy vs. a Cherokee democrat coat holder. How convenient that it gets announced after the election, as was the attempted shoot down of a US drown.
Wait a minute. Maybe the general has just one-upped the slimballs. Could it be they were holding this over him and he has said "fine, I had an affair. I'll admit it. I quit!" Now they have no leverage to blackmail him and he is free to say what he wants.
Was he set up? Did it just happen? Did they "always" know about it?
Could/would" Obama use it, "if necessary!
Will Petraeus testify before Congress?
Sadly, Patraeus should have known better! The Libs called him General Betray-US! They have no consideration - only "use" those who do not fit into their plans will be thrown under the bus!
Time for America to rise up and say "Why now!" This should have been reported sooner, if true.
What does Mrs. Petraus say? Is she going along with the Obama henchmen just to have her husband with her.
There is no love between those who will use anyone for their agenda!
Obama may have won, but he is still accountable to Almighty God. He knows the whole truth. He alone is able to define who Obama is and why he does what he does.
This is not over. Obama will trip up one day! The real Obama will stand before US in his empty suit, gazing at his empty chair!
God has His payday, maybe not tomorrow, but Obama will be held accountable. He alone will suffer the consequences of his actions, as will the whole liberal party, mainly the liberal media, who again defied the country, lied about Romney, set in order their socialistic agenda. Sadly, they will lose there too! Satan is a very harsh employer!
If you can't unseal divorce records, the thug in chief will do the next best thing and find dirty laundry and silence you with it. But, now the cat is out of the bag, Pet should be able to scream to the heavens about how kenyan idiot boy ignored 3 pleas for help and let 4 Americans be slaughtered. If he was a real man, Pet would sing like a bird now. But alas, he has been plucked by Jarrett. Sickening.
My feeling is that the Gen thought Obama wouldn't win and allowed them to keep him silent for a time. If Romney won, he could aid the investigation. Now he's out and he can aid the investigation. I hope.
I'm probably giving him way too much benefit of the doubt, but he's been solid before this incident so I think he's earned it.
I guess Hillary can close her file on Petrarus now. He probably had the goods on the State Deparment over Benghazi and was willing to come clean to keep the CIA from being scapegoated. I suppose he was already retired from the Army, not on loan, so this shouldn't affect his retirement pay.
No doubt in my mind, Bam Bam had data from Jarrett and they were waiting for the opportune moment to tell Petraeus to resign or they would go public. There was no reason in the world for such information to be given unless obama wanted...... "REVENGE". Watch for other resignations with the same type of vindictive reasons.
It is very difficult to find the serious thinkers on this thread. This really isn't the place for drivebys.
It doesn't take a genius to figure out that the timing on this is very suspicious. And the fact that we knew Petraeus was going to have to pull the rug out from under Obie and his fools when he went before a hearing, under oath.
The Obama dirt machine knew about the affair and simply held that information until an appropriate time for maximum effect and benefit to Obama. That time was now.
This left him completely vulnerable to blackmail from our outside enemies...and they are many. He was a massive national security risk and had a target painted on him by engaging in this dishonorable behavior. A huge national security risk.
As it is, his blackmailers may end having been closer to home...the Chicago brigade occupying the White House and most of the rest of government.
Can't resist rats when I smell them - consider the others of the regime who are resigning too - Hillary, Geitner, Holder and consider too that the tragic "murderous nanny" story was abruptly withdrawn from CNBC [Kevin Klim] -in association with the inquest into the missing 43 $trillions. Something is up - keep sniffing.
I've had problems in my marriage, but I and my wife have worked them out, therefore I elect to remain CIA director. Someone must have threatened Petraeus here(more likely Obama or one of his henchmen)and Petraeus cowered out and resigned?
My God it seems like Satan has found a permanent foothold here in the Obama Administration?
The Libs identify "with" adultery as well as abortion!
The "majority" had denied God in their Democratic platform, still denying Him on the third vote, then the one in charge declaring they will "change back" to win an election!
Also, the Dems denied Jerusalem as the capitol of Israel. Don't look for any cooperation with Israel, God's people, who promised them the land "forever"! They are trying to usurp God's power! Not a good plan!
The Dems have met their match when they think they can challenge God. The votable Dems loved/loves their entitlements and will cry out "Obama gave it to me", not knowing or want to know that their neighbors (employed) are suffering to supply them with their Obama gifts!
Today, we as Christians, have an opportunity to "let our light shine", knowing God is sovereign and He is just, giving them enough rope to hang themselves! Satan first deceives, then makes his prey to "feel" they are not important, then goes further to "steal/kill/destroy" to further his agenda!
This war is not over. We will have many battles/skirmishes, but God loves US and wants US to make a stand for righteousness and it is only found in Jesus Christ, God's only-begotten Son - John 3:16. He came to set the captives (those under Satanic bondage) free and it only found in Him.
Time to get on your knees and acknowledge God as the only means by which we are/will be saved!
Pray in agreement with God's holy Word! God's Door (Jesus) is open, ready/willing/able to "deliver US from all evil, here and abroad. Amen
It's the Chicago way. Get rid of all the witnesses. 0blamer and Axelrod are experienced in this type operation. The house should supeona him as a private citizen to be a witness as to what he knew when. I am really afraid we have just elected a Hugo Chavez clone for at least 4 more years. Maybe this will be bad enough that even the corrupt Harry Ried Senate will have to vote to convict upon impeachmaent.
From my Conservative Christian friends in Wash. DC, from a Biblical viewpoint -- EVERY man and woman, who comes there to serve, is bombarded by temptations to sin, in EVERY way possible. And, these temptations NEVER stop.
General Petraeus succumbed to the temptations. He, his wife and family, the CIA, and We the People are paying the severe penalty for his sin.
I am making observations. I am not throwing the first stone.
Our actions have consequences... sometimes terrible consequences.
Ummm - - he said he had an "extramarital affair" - - but he didn't say it was a sexual dalliance - - did he?
Maybe it was a financial affair - - maybe a political affair? Certainly an "affair" which Zippy's thugs used to cow him.
Dear friends, always parse the words - - never assume you know the meaning. In fact - - we can't even be sure what the meaning of "is" is.
So - - is it all a bunch of crap? Absolutely. There's so much more going on that our decent, honest minds can't begin to contemplate it. One thing we do know - - with absolute, metaphysical certainty - - - - -
- - - Zippy will skate away - - because he is both pro-abortion and black. No way he can ever be touched.
John Bolton is telling Neal Cavuto that Petraeus will be testifying on Benghazi. Even if they have to subpoena him. Bolton is confident that he will have to tell his story, "maybe not Thursday, but in days or weeks". In either open or closed (classified) hearings, he will have to tell what happened from the CIA's point of view.
How little faith some of you posters have. Charlie Rangel was just on TV, and he said he is not suspicious of the timing. So, now we can all relax, the media will climb all over Petraeus for a few days, then Benghazi and the four dead Americans will never be mentioned again. Obama wins again!!!
Law-enforcement officials in the U.S. are expanding the use of tools routinely used by computer hackers to gather information on suspects, bringing the criminal wiretap into the cyber age. Federal agencies have largely kept quiet about these capabilities, but court documents and interviews with people involved in the programs provide new details about the hacking tools, including spyware delivered to computers and phones through email or Web links—techniques more commonly associated with attacks by criminals. People familiar with the Federal Bureau of Investigation´s programs say that the use of hacking
A handwritten note about Obamacare from President Obama was auctioned off for nearly $10,000. The auction house Nate D. Sanders put the final bid at $9,799. Some 10 people bid on the note in the July auction, and it was one of the highest bids for an Obama letter in his presidency. Here is how Sanders promoted the letter: "Excellent-content autograph letter signed by Barack Obama on his health care legislation. On official White House stationery, undated but likely early 2010, Obama writes in full, ´´Beth - I received your letter, and want you to hear back from me.
Like a battered spouse in an abusive relationship, the Pentagon paid billions of dollars to companies even though the same companies were known to have defrauded the government in the past, according to a report compiled by Department of Defense officials. But the Pentagon´s ability to research sanctions levied by DOD offices against contractors, and to monitor sanctioned contractors as they merge, acquire new names and become new companies, is as piecemeal and filled with guesswork as that of anyone trying to do such research from the outside, with limited integrated systems and unique identifiers, the report said.
Hillary Clinton, get ready for your close-up. The former secretary of state and potential 2016 presidential candidate is the subject of a series of Hollywood projects set for release in the near future. On the line-up: An NBC miniseries called “Hillary,” a CNN documentary based on Clinton’s life and a movie, dubbed “Rodham,” dramatizing her early years as a Washington lawyer. Plus, there’s an HBO documentary about former President Bill Clinton in the works. Martin Scorsese (of “Taxi Driver” fame) is directing that film, which will focus on his presidency and post-White House life. What’s causing the flood?
Republican New Jersey governor Chris Christie is appealing to “ChristieCrats” in a new re-election ad touting his bipartisan credentials. The Youtube ad, which the Christie campaign is quick to note does not appear on television or radio, highlights the outburst of Democratic love for the governor following his high-profile embrace of President Obama after Hurricane Sandy late last October — a move that angered many national Republicans who felt the photo op damaged Mitt Romney’s chances in the 2012 presidential election. “There are so many Democrats endorsing Chris Christie’s re-election that they actually have a name, ‘ChristieCrats,’”
House Oversight and Government Reform Committee chairman and California Republican Rep. Darrell Issa has subpoenaed the U.S. Treasury Department for documents related to the IRS targeting scandal. The Treasury Department, headed by Obama appointee and former Obama White House Chief of Staff Jack Lew, said that it is cooperating with the subpoena. Issa also accused acting IRS commissioner Danny Werfel of obstructing his investigation Friday in the final IRS hearing before congressional summer recess.
On his show Friday, Glenn Beck became convinced that many members of the Obama administration act like racists, after breaking down the “anatomy of a racist”: they see groups over individuals, they lack objectivity, and they seek power through conflict. Beck concluded that the president and his allies are trying to sow the seeds of a race war. Beck has previously leveled these same charges at Obama, calling him a racist who is uncomfortable with white people four years ago, but in an exchange flagged by Right Wing Watch, this time he upped the
Rent free in their empty heads. There would be no home field advantage in Alaska for Sarah Palin if the former governor made a run for the White House in 2016, according to a new poll released Friday. Hillary Clinton, the front runner for the Democrats in 2016, would beat Palin 49-40 in a hypothetical match-up, according to a survey from Democratic firm Public Policy Polling. Palin is the only potential GOP candidate Clinton topped in poll. Despite it being her home state, only 18 percent of Alaskans think Palin should make a bid for the
CHARLOTTE —What does the term “summer camp” mean to you? Swimming? Hiking? Arts & Crafts? Archery? Hot dogs? Ghost stories by a campfire? For children in the Middle East “summer camp” could mean rocket launchers, hand grenades, suicide vests and learning how to manage an improvised explosive device (IED). From the beginning of June until the first week in July, Hamas organizes month-long summer camps for nearly 100,000 students. More than 60% of them are young men between the ages of 10 and 22. According to the Chairman of the Hamas Central Summer Camp Committee, Moussa al-Sammak,
OCALA, Fla. — Angela Corey, the special prosecutor in George Zimmerman’s murder trial, is being sued by a former employee she fired after he testified against her handling of evidence in the case. Corey fired Ben Kruidbos, her office’s information technology director, after his June 6 pre-trial testimony in which he revealed information concealed from Zimmerman’s defense team by the prosecution. His termination letter included allegations of serious workplace misconduct such as violating public records laws. However, the allegations conflict with the kudos Corey’s office gave Kruidbos on May 16, when he received a pay raise for “meritorious service.”
WASHINGTON — The 2016 presidential marathon began this week when Hillary Clinton had a very visible, heavily promoted White House lunch with President Obama, and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie threw a political punch at one of his potential rivals for the Republican nomination. If there were any doubts that the former secretary of state plans to run for president, they were put to rest when she and Obama had lunch on the patio outside the Oval Office on Monday. The White House photographer, Chuck Kennedy, took pictures of the tete-a-tete that were
By granting a yearly and renewable asylum to Edward Snowden, Vladimir Putin has challenged President Barack Obama. He has made it clear that the famous “reset” button with Russia, signed onto and endorsed by Hillary Clinton when she was secretary of State, meant only that the United States would allow Russia to get away with what it wanted in international affairs as long as Putin’s authority was not challenged. Russia would continue to aid its Syrian ally, no matter what “red lines” were crossed, and all the United States would do is urge Russia to act differently.
The United States will temporarily shut down its embassies and consulates around the world Sunday, including those in Iraq, Afghanistan and Egypt, as a precautionary measure, the State Department said Thursday. State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf did not say how long the international installations would stay closed -- only that the decision was taken “out of an abundance of caution and care for our employees and others who may be visiting.” Sunday is a normal workday in many Arab and Middle Eastern countries. Embassies in Europe and Latin America would be shuttered that day anyway.
Executive Director of Mayors Against Illegal Guns Mark Glaze gave some ambiguous and potentially dangerous self defense advice Friday on “Hardball.” Glaze, speaking in opposition to “Stand Your Ground” laws, said in a circumstance where someone “comes at you” with an axe handle one should attempt to either “talk,” “fight with your fists,” “run away,” or “deescalate the situation,” but not shoot the attacker: MARK GLAZE: Very often somebody will come at you. They might want to have a fistfight. They might come at you with an ax handle. CHRIS MATTHEWS: Would you consider the guy with the ax handle armed or not?
American scientists claim the planet is undergoing one of the largest changes in climate in the past 65 million years. Climatologists at Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment have warned the likely rate of change over the next century will be at least 10 times quicker than any climate shift since the dinosaurs became extinct. If the trend continues at its current rapid pace, it will place significant stress on terrestrial ecosystems around the world, and many species will need to make behavioral, evolutionary or geographic adaptations to survive, they said.
Citing a potential al Qaeda attack, the State Department on Friday issued a worldwide travel alert and warned American citizens that the terrorist group may be plotting a strike in the Middle East, North Africa or elsewhere. “Current information suggests that al Qaeda and affiliated organizations continue to plan terrorist attacks both in the region and beyond, and that they may focus efforts to conduct attacks in the period between now and the end of August,” reads a portion of the alert, which lasts until the end of the month.
About 400 area retail and fast-food workers, together with colleagues nationally, participated in a strike Thursday to demand raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour. “If not $15, then something. I mean give us something. I work 36 hours a week and barely make enough to pay my rent, gas bill, light bill. It gets to the point where I barely have enough for lunch sometimes,” said Angel Richardson, 21, who works at McDonald’s. “I’m five months pregnant, what am I going to do in four months? I hope something changes.” The minimum wage is $7.25 nationally and $8.25
The administration has popped the bubble of hope some small business had that switching to part-time staff would let them escape the high costs of Obamacare. The Small Business Administration on Thursday created a website to explain to businesses that the government will simply tally up the number of part-time employees firms have to determine if enough hours have been worked to essentially create a "full-time equivalent." Some smaller businesses had thought that if they could get under the 50 full-time employee cap that activates Obamacare by cutting full-time workers and hiring more part-time workers they would escape
Government workers in the city of Seattle have been advised that the terms "citizen" and "brown bag" are potentially offensive and may no longer be used in official documents and discussions. KOMO-TV reports that the city´s Office of Civil Rights instructed city workers in a recent internal memo to avoid using the words because some may find them offensive. "Luckily, we´ve got options," Elliott Bronstein of the Office for Civil Rights wrote in the memo obtained by the station. "For ´citizens,´ how about ´residents?´"
You don´t have to be gay or even Russian to feel the wrath of the Russian government´s homophobia. You could go to jail if you are "pro-gay," whatever that means. And that´s under just one of a growing number of hate-infused bills becoming law at a time when, as it happens, Russia is preparing to host the world in the next Winter Olympics. The perverse anti-gay legislation is inflaming an atmosphere of persistent intimidation and at times deadly violence against Russian gays and lesbians. The question now is: What should the rest of the world do?
Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-NY) suggested on Friday morning that the tea party movement is comprised of the same types of people who fought against the civil rights movement during the 1960s. Speaking with the Daily Beast, Rangel said of the movement: “It is the same group we faced in the South with those white crackers and the dogs and the police. They didn’t care about how they looked. He added that the tea party movement can be defeated similar to how the civil rights movement eradicated Jim Crow mentality: “It was just fierce indifference to human life that caused
The nation´s most active death penalty state is running out of its execution drug. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice said Thursday that its remaining supply of phenobarbital expires in September and that no alternatives have been found. It wasn´t immediately clear whether two executions scheduled for next month would be delayed. The state has already executed 11 death-row inmates this year, and at least seven more have execution dates in coming months. "We will be unable to use our current supply of phenobarbital after it expires," agency spokesman Jason Clark said. "We are exploring all options at this time."
Congressional investigators this week released emails suggesting that staff at the Federal Election Commission have been engaged in their own conservative targeting, with help from the IRS´s infamous Lois Lerner. This means more than just an expansion of the probe to the FEC. It´s a new link to the Obama team. In May this column noted that the targeting of conservatives started in 2008, when liberals began a coordinated campaign of siccing the federal government on political opponents. The Obama campaign helped pioneer this tactic. In late summer of 2008, Obama lawyer Bob Bauer took
After purchasing the Boston Globe in 1993 for a then-record $1.1 billion, the financially troubled New York Times just announced it sold the 141 year-old paper to Boston Red Sox owner John Henry for a mere $70 million. That´s a straight 93% loss. Figuring in two decades of inflation would only make it worse -- as does the fact the Times retains the Globe´s pension liabilities, estimated at over $100 million. (snip) What might have sweetened the lower offer for the Times is that Henry offered a straight cash deal, which is expected to close sometime in September or October.
