Vice President Joe Biden indicated he will keep open the possibility of a 2016 run for office – any office – while voting this morning in Greenville, Del. Asked by a reporter whether this day would mark the last time he would vote for himself, Biden grinned and responded, “No, I don’t think so.” The vice president arrived at his polling station at Alexis I. duPont High School shortly after 7 a.m. and entered the school holding the hand of his granddaughter Natalie. He only spent 20 seconds in the voting booth. Was the ballot already filled out ahead of time?

Kiev, Ukraine -- Both Kiev and Washington say that Russian forces are massing in large numbers near Ukraine´s eastern border -- and that they represent a threat to Ukraine and potentially to other former Soviet states. It´s hard to pin down an exact figure, amid a welter of different views, but the U.S. and Ukraine agree the number of Russian soldiers present is rising fast. Support for the health care reform law is at its lowest point since it was enacted four years ago, according to a new poll. The Associated Press survey found that only 26 percent of Americans support the Affordable Care Act, President Barack Obama’s signature domestic achievement. Forty-three percent said they are opposed to the law. The poll was conducted online, and online polls are typically not as accurate as telephone polls. But the results nevertheless point to political peril for Democratic congressional candidates in the midterm elections, with Republicans again running against the law across the country. MOSCOW - President Vladimir Putin on Friday said Russia´s takeover of Crimea showed off its military prowess, as his defence minister reported that the Russian flag was now flying over all military sites on the Black Sea peninsula. In a Kremlin ceremony with senior security officials, Sergei Shoigu told Putin that all Ukrainian servicemen still loyal to Kiev have left the Crimea region, whose annexation by Moscow has led to the worst stand-off with the West since the Cold War. Washington - The United States and Europe must stand firm in rejecting Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and its annexation of Crimea not just because they challenge the principles a peaceful and prosperous Europe is built on, President Obama said Wednesday in Brussels, but also because they thwart "universal values" of freedom and self-determination that stir all humanity. The president’s speech – the format Mr. Obama has favored for delivering big messages in foreign places – came at the end of a day during which the American leader visited for the first time two pillars of trans-Atlantic relations: NATO headquarters and

A few weeks ago, I wrote about how the sweeping acceptance of gay marriage in recent years is owed in large part to Christianity. Rejecting the rigidly hierarchical and stratified societies of the ancient world, Jesus Christ taught the equal dignity of all persons, proclaimed that the meek shall inherit the earth, and declared that the last shall be first and the first shall be last. The Western world has been working out the logic of these subversive teachings ever since, with the institutional transformation of marriage being the latest, though surely not the last, example of its social, moral,

Although U.S. agriculture only accounts for about 9 percent of the country’s greenhouse gas emissions, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, it makes up a sizeable portion of methane emissions — which is a very potent greenhouse gas.
