Fuel haulers also deal with
long lines to pick up gas

News12 [Long Island], by Staff

Original Article

Posted By:GOPJihad, 11/6/2012 8:45:53 AM

HOLTSVILLE - While Long Island drivers wait in hours-long lines to get gasoline, tanker drivers are waiting in long lines of their own so they can deliver gas to local stations. (*SNIP*) The truckers say that the terminal is rationing fuel and is running slowly because of an ethanol shortage. Ethanol is a chemical required by the Environmental Protection Agency to be mixed with gasoline to reduce emissions. Haulers say the shortage has cut the amount of gas that could otherwise be delivered in half.

Comments:
Furious! I can not even begin to put into words how I feel. The USEPA did provide a waiver for New Jersey at Gov. Christie's request so they could access as much gasoline (especially other than that E10 junk) as possible. Apparently, Cuomo hasn't requested such a waiver from the Ethanol requirement and/or USEPA hasn't granted it. Meanwhile people are freezing without power, or even gas for their generators all over LI.

A reminder to the good people of NY and NJ, that gas comes from BIG OIL companies, not the government. Where would we be without oil companies?
Thank God that we have BIG OIL to produce it for your needs. With Obama, that could be a thing of the past. Now go vote for the candidate who will drill more to provide more.

Sheriffs: Cuomo Asked for Silence
Albany Times Union (Albany, NY), by Jimmy Vielkind    Original Article

The sheriffs thought they were being summoned to the Capitol to discuss ideas for changes to New York´s gun control law, the SAFE Act. Instead, Gov. Andrew Cuomo told them to keep quiet. Opposition to the new law has simmered in upstate areas since Cuomo signed the law in January. Many county sheriffs oppose it, particularly its expanded definition of banned assault weapons, and have spoken out around the state. In January, the New York State Sheriffs´ Association wrote Cuomo with an analysis, and later suggested tweaks.

AMHERST, N.Y. - An Amherst man who had his guns taken away by the state is speaking out after the state admitted it made a mistake by suspending his pistol permit. David Lewis is the man State Police deemed so mentally ill he was unfit to own a gun. They recommended to a state judge that the 34-year-old librarian´s pistol permit be suspended and the judge signed the order. (*SNIP*) Tresmond also claims State Police have lined up a special unit to circumvent federal HIPAA laws to pry into gun owners´ medical records, which State Police deny.

AMHERST, N.Y. - State Police forced an Amherst man to turn in his guns after suspending his pistol permit over anti-anxiety medication. But now they say it was all a misunderstanding. Erie County Clerk Chris Jacobs said, "Today, we all look like fools." "David," a 34-year-old college librarian, recently had his pistol permit taken away. Erie County´s Licensing Officer, Supreme Court Justice William Boller, was following a recommendation from State Police that David´s permit be revoked because he used anti-anxiety medication in the past.

An orderly protest over the death of an armed 16-year-old turned into a riot in Brooklyn tonight after young people started lashing out at NYPD officers. Between 60 and 100 rioters gathered around Church and Snyder Ave. in East Flatbush and threw bottles and other debris at police, witnesses said, following a vigil for Kimani Gray, 16, who was shot dead by two plainclothes officers over the weekend. One person has been arrested, though no injuries have been reported. They were lashing out at the NYPD, who they believe are responsible for the teen’s death.

ROCHESTER — Starting April 15, New York will have the smallest gun magazine limit in the country, and all signs indicate no gun makers have plans to accommodate it. Gun manufacturers have never had a reason to make a magazine with fewer than 10 rounds, because no state required it until now. And, as far as local gun dealers and the Democrat and Chronicle have been able to determine, there are no manufacturers planning to make seven-round magazines. This means that in less than two months, gun dealers such as Paul Martin, owner of Pro-Gun Services in Victor…

CHICAGO — A federal appeals court won´t reconsider an earlier ruling that Illinois´ concealed carry ban is unconstitutional. A three-judge panel of the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals struck down Illinois´ ban in December and gave lawmakers until June 8 to legalize the concealed carry of firearms. Attorney General Lisa Madigan asked for all 10 judges to review the decision, saying it conflicted with decisions by other federal appellate courts and goes beyond what the U.S. Supreme Court has held. Illinois is the only state in the nation that still has a ban in place.

Kathryn Riffenburg decided on a closed casket for her baby´s funeral. She didn´t want her family to see what whooping cough, her son´s first illness, had done to 9-week-old Brady Alcaide. The nearly forgotten disease, which has in recent years afflicted thousands of Americans, left Brady´s tiny body swollen and unrecognizable. So his mother dressed him in a white baptismal suit and hat and tucked him into a tiny white casket. A few weeks ago, the liberal comedian Bill Maher and conservative strategist and pundit Bill Kristol had a brief spat on Maher’s HBO show, putatively over what instigated the tea party but ultimately over the psychic wound that has divided red America and blue America in the Obama years. The rise of the tea party, explained Maher in a let’s-get-real moment, closing his eyes for a second the way one does when saying something everybody knows but nobody wants to say, “was about a black president.” Both Maher and Kristol carry themselves with a weary cynicism that allows them to

When friends and family members gathered recently at the White House for a private celebration of Michelle Obama’s 50th birthday, one of the invited partygoers was a former paid FBI Mafia informant. That same man attended February’s state dinner in honor of French President Francois Hollande. He was seated with his girlfriend at a table adjacent to President Barack Obama, who is likely unaware that, according to federal agents, his guest once interacted with members of four of New York City’s five organized crime families. He even secretly taped some of those wiseguys using a briefcase that FBI technicians outfitted

Democrats are facing a senior problem that could get even worse this year. The party has traditionally had trouble with older voters, losing the group aged 65 and over by 21 points in 2010 — when Republicans picked up 63 seats — and by 12 points in the 2012 presidential race. Seniors are the GOP’s most reliable voting bloc in midterm years, turning out in higher numbers than Democratic base voters. A recent Gallup poll showed seniors have become even more Republican over the last two decades; in 2013, 48 percent considered themselves Republican. That spells trouble for Democrats, who are already facing

LONDON - Peaches Geldof, the wild-child second daughter of concert organizer Bob Geldof who worked as a model, a television presenter and a fashion writer and filled the pages of British tabloids with her late-night antics, has died at age 25. There was no immediate word on the cause of her death at her home in Wrotham, Kent, southeast England. Her father said in a statement Monday: "Peaches has died. We are beyond pain." "She was the wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us," he said. "Writing 'was' destroys me afresh. What a beautiful child. How is this possible that we will not see her again? How is that bearable? We loved her and will cherish her forever."

Call it the million-worker mystery. A large chunk of American adults are no longer in the labor force.
