Pastor Joseph Lowery, a civil rights movement hero who delivered the benediction at President Obama’s inauguration, reportedly said that he is shocked that any black Americans would stay home with Obama on the ballot and suggested that all or most white people would go to hell. The local outlet paraphrases Lowery’s comments. “Lowery said that when he was a young militant, he used to say all white folks were going to hell,” the Monroe County Reporter (Ga.) says in covering a rally in Forsyth, Georgia. “Then he mellowed and just said most of them were. Now, he said, he is back
Comments: And the leftists are always accusing Republicans of being racist. I just want 0bama out of the White House.
This what our president and his wife believe. Of course, he also believes America will go to hell. Except for holders people. Let everyone you know their country needs them next week. Desperately. Vote this scum out.
This race pimp revrum has a street named for him in downtown Atlanta. Time to change the name back and restore Atlanta's historical street names. And strip his "church" of its tax exempt status. Further proof of Øbama's rage against Whitey. And proof of his unbroken string of associations w Revrum Wright-like creeps.
I'm confused. Does the racist pastor mean that all white people, as in completely white without a hint of black, brown, yellow, red, will go to hell? Or does he mean that all people who are white with any mixtures included will go to hell, for example, like Hussein-Obama? Based on what the racist pastor is saying, should there be a hell, I am convinced that is his future home.
If this isn't racist I don't know what is. Perhaps Joseph Lowery is suffering from just a tad of senility. He and others often remind us that they marched with Dr. King and supported Dr. King - I don't believe that Dr. King would approve of this type of racist ranting.
Back at the funeral of Coretta King, the Rev spent most of his eulogy taking shots at Dubya who was there. Not a huge fan of O'Reilly but I loved his line: who goes to a funeral dressed like a carnival barker? He just an old fool who is honest enough to admit he's a racist.
So, then he would be equally shocked by any white people who stay home and don't vote for Romney? That clinches it for me, I'm voting for the white guy. I was shocked to learn that many black people believe the USA population is about 50% black ! (It is 12%)
Ok. Fine. When we all get there, we'll clean it up, start small businesses, invent some primo air conditioning technology, extract water and fuel from the rocks, and before you know it, we'll be in heaven.
Meanwhile, heaven will be looted and trashed, the streets of gold will be ripped up and sold for crack, and before you know it, heaven will become a living hell.
If that is how this so-called "hero" of the civil rights movement thinks, then he is certainly no Christian and doesn't deserve to be a pastor either. What a racist ignorant fool!!! I am sick of the media calling any black person who marched for civil rights a "hero" of the movement. It takes more than mere participation and having a loud voice to be considered a "hero".
The liberal media's heads would explode if a white cardinal stood up and pronounced that all black people were headed to hell.
Obama gave Lowery a big time medal, so you have to figure that Obama feels the same way, only he does not know which half of himself will go through the pearly gates, and which half is headed for the devil's den.
Lowery is 91 years old and really should not be speaking in public. It is sad to hear him spouting such racist cant, even if it is at least in part the result of senility. This is not at all what MLK, Jr. had in mind. In fact, it is the very thing he was fighting against. More than one venerated black "civil rights leader" connected with Dr. King has traded shamelessly on his name while betraying his principles. The refusal of white liberals to challenge such scurrilous behavior, indeed their active support of it, is almost nauseating.
Rev. Lowery is an ordained minister of the Christian faith, but even men of the cloth can become separated from our Lord when they start worshipping people and things instead of our Creator and Redeemer. Same as #31, I regard Lowery's fall from grace with much sadness. I hope he hasn't lost his salvation. Politics can have this kind of effect on people.
Sorry, but Lowry has been racist longer than he has been a minister. He hasn't "lost his way"--he has always believed white people were going to hell. He was born lost...he should not be a minister and certainly is not a practicing Christian in my book.
Hmmmmmmmmmm Black ministers and civil rights icons out trying to pump out the black vote. Didn't Willie Brown say not too long ago that the Obama team was reaching out to black ministers and civil rights icons to help get out the black vote? And didn't Willie also say that Rev. Wright was one of the ministers that was contacted? And didn't the White House deny the conference call ever took place? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Keep spouting that racial garbage, Reverend Lowery. Every time you make another racist statement, you drive another reasonable person to vote for Romney. The ignorant are going to vote for Zero regardless what you say.
This is no snow job: President Obama´s grassroots organization has developed a plan called ´blizzarding´ for his supporters to plow into neighborhoods and communities to sock GOP critics of Obamacare, gun control, and climate change as part of its "Action August." While other elements of Obama´s Organizing for Action are planning high-tech and expensive assaults in August on GOP lawmakers, the ´blizzarding´ strategy calls on small groups or even individuals to promote the president´s agenda with a door-to-door campaign followed by hyped up social media. In email directions to supporters, OFA said "´blizzarding´ means flyering or delivering postcards
And the award goes to Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey: New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is the “hottest” political figure in the country, according to a new temperature poll. Voters were asked to give politicians a number from 0-100 representing how they feel about that figure, with 0 being least favorable, or coldest, and 100 being most favorable, or warmest, in the new Quinnipiac survey on Monday. Christie’s mean score was 53.1, topping the heap. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was in a close second, at 52.1 degrees, and third was Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.),
Sen. Lindsey Graham on Sunday endorsed President Obama’s move to close nearly two dozen U.S. embassies and consulates in the Middle East and Africa for the day, calling the terrorism threat behind the decision “scary.” Graham, R-S.C., said the administration’s awareness of the threats prove that the controversial surveillance by the National Security Agency is needed. Graham told CNN’s State of the Union he was recently briefed about the terrorist threat along with Vice President Joe Biden and believes the administration is making a move that takes into account the deaths of four Americans,
It’s not a new idea, but then again liberals are not known for “new” ideas. Since the 1910’s, progressive initiatives have been little more than a string of recycled redistributive concepts, and innovative ways to reduce the private ownership of wealth. The ‘Inclusive Prosperity Act’ is the latest in a long string of “transaction tax” proposals. Essentially the act would levy a sales tax on the trading of stocks, bonds and derivatives. And while the tax might be ill-conceived, and economically damaging, it was the sales pitch for the tax that proved to be most disturbing.
WASHINGTON — Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz angered many top leaders in the party she leads as Democratic National Committee chair when she went public with her plans to use the connections she’s made in her national job to position herself for a statewide run in Florida or even a bid to replace Nancy Pelosi as Democratic leader in the House. “This is unbelievable. So much for supporting the president or electing Democrats,” said a top Democratic political adviser. “She was honest that this is about her.” Wasserman Schultz told Politico Friday that she plans to use the DNC’s donor
On Monday, Fox News Channel anchor Bret Baier joined the hosts of Fox & Friends to expand on the terror warnings which resulted in the closure of a large number of American embassies abroad and a State Department warning urging Americans to take caution when traveling overseas. Baier responded in the affirmative when asked if National Security Advisor Susan Rice took a lead role in the decision to close the embassies, agreeing that the administration was taking “a kind of do-over” for what happened in Benghazi almost a year ago. “We saw reports this morning –
COLORADO SPRINGS — According to Colorado’s new election law, there is effectively no residency requirement to vote in any specific jurisdiction. As long as voters don’t vote more than once, they can pretty much vote wherever they want. This is just one of the “features” of the new election law passed in May at the end of the legislative session and signed into law by Governor John Hickenlooper on May 10. The bill was sponsored by Angela Giron, the same Giron being recalled in Pueblo for ignoring the wishes of her constituents.
Law-enforcement officials in the U.S. are expanding the use of tools routinely used by computer hackers to gather information on suspects, bringing the criminal wiretap into the cyber age. Federal agencies have largely kept quiet about these capabilities, but court documents and interviews with people involved in the programs provide new details about the hacking tools, including spyware delivered to computers and phones through email or Web links—techniques more commonly associated with attacks by criminals. People familiar with the Federal Bureau of Investigation´s programs say that the use of hacking
A handwritten note about Obamacare from President Obama was auctioned off for nearly $10,000. The auction house Nate D. Sanders put the final bid at $9,799. Some 10 people bid on the note in the July auction, and it was one of the highest bids for an Obama letter in his presidency. Here is how Sanders promoted the letter: "Excellent-content autograph letter signed by Barack Obama on his health care legislation. On official White House stationery, undated but likely early 2010, Obama writes in full, ´´Beth - I received your letter, and want you to hear back from me.
Like a battered spouse in an abusive relationship, the Pentagon paid billions of dollars to companies even though the same companies were known to have defrauded the government in the past, according to a report compiled by Department of Defense officials. But the Pentagon´s ability to research sanctions levied by DOD offices against contractors, and to monitor sanctioned contractors as they merge, acquire new names and become new companies, is as piecemeal and filled with guesswork as that of anyone trying to do such research from the outside, with limited integrated systems and unique identifiers, the report said.
Hillary Clinton, get ready for your close-up. The former secretary of state and potential 2016 presidential candidate is the subject of a series of Hollywood projects set for release in the near future. On the line-up: An NBC miniseries called “Hillary,” a CNN documentary based on Clinton’s life and a movie, dubbed “Rodham,” dramatizing her early years as a Washington lawyer. Plus, there’s an HBO documentary about former President Bill Clinton in the works. Martin Scorsese (of “Taxi Driver” fame) is directing that film, which will focus on his presidency and post-White House life. What’s causing the flood?
Republican New Jersey governor Chris Christie is appealing to “ChristieCrats” in a new re-election ad touting his bipartisan credentials. The Youtube ad, which the Christie campaign is quick to note does not appear on television or radio, highlights the outburst of Democratic love for the governor following his high-profile embrace of President Obama after Hurricane Sandy late last October — a move that angered many national Republicans who felt the photo op damaged Mitt Romney’s chances in the 2012 presidential election. “There are so many Democrats endorsing Chris Christie’s re-election that they actually have a name, ‘ChristieCrats,’”
White House insiders say President Barack Obama is in “a funk” about what he sees as increasing stagnation and failures surrounding his second term and some worry that the President is becoming more distant and distracted. “He’s not the same Obama that came to the Oval Office after the 2008 elections,” a senior White House aided confided to friends in an email recently. “I’m worried.” Chicago Mayor and former White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel tells friends that the Presidency has changed his longtime friend Obama and many of those changes are “not good.”
In 2008 and then again in 2012, after retired four-star General Colin Powell endorsed and then voted for Barack Obama, the former Secretary of State´s sanity was already in question. At least now, after having his email account hacked by high-level security-breacher Guccifer, Colin Powell´s besmirching of the Republican Party´s "shift to the right" and "identity crisis" finally makes sense. It seems that for years the mannerly and always professional Colin Powell has been cyber-comporting with a 46-year-old Romanian European Parliament member, Social Democrat, and past spokesperson for Romanian president Ion Iliescu named Corina Cretu
In warning about possible al Qaeda attacks against Americans overseas, U.S. officials may have provided too much detail about intercepted chatter and the source of the information, and that may make it more difficult to get such tips next time, former and current intelligence officials say.On Friday, the U.S. State Department issued a worldwide travel alert for Americans, citing an unspecified al Qaeda threat. The bulletin said that the highest threat levels are the Middle East and North Africa, “and possibly occurring in or emanating from the Arab Peninsula.”
Washington - President Barack Obama´s top national security advisers met at the White House on Saturday to discuss the potential threat of terrorist attacks that caused Washington and its allies to issue travel warnings and close embassies throughout the Middle East. The United States issued a worldwide travel alert on Friday (Snip) Obama is spending the weekend at the Camp David presidential retreat after playing golf earlier on Saturday. His birthday is Sunday. The White House said Obama had received regular briefings about the potential threat and U.S. preparedness measures all week.
Conservatives have for years attempted to put our finger upon precisely why Barack Obama strikes us as queer in precisely the way he does. There is an alienness about him, which in the fever swamps is expressed in all that ridiculous Kenyan-Muslim hokum, but his citizen-of-the-world shtick is strictly sophomore year — the great globalist does not even speak a foreign language. Obama has been called many things — radical, socialist — labels that may have him dead to rights at the phylum level but not down at his genus or species. His social circle includes
[Video] Rapper Jay Z appearing on HBO´s "Real Time" with Bill Maher says that the black community wants upward economic mobility rather than a stronger police presence. In a conversation with former Congressman Barney Frank about police tactics such as stop-and-frisk, Jay Z suggests the stagnant economy and wealth inequality could cause widespread social unrest: "The real problem is there´s no middle class, right? So the gap between the have and have-nots is getting wider and wider... It´s gonna be a problem that no amount of police can solve, because once you have that sort of oppression
For nearly a year, we have had no answer to why the administration lied about Benghazi — why it told the world, not to mention the parents of our murdered SEALs at the funeral of their sons, that the cause of that fatal conflagration was an anti-Islamic video no one saw, when the various arms of our executive branch (White House, State and intelligence) already knew, or strongly suspected, it was a terror attack orchestrated by al-Qaeda affiliates. You only have to read the now infamous talking points to know that. That this lie was deeply immoral is obvious.
Several skills that every kid once learned in school are going the way of the dodo in a hurry. Diagramming sentences is practically an extinct art, for example. Cursive handwriting and memorized multiplication tables look to be swiftly headed that way. Apparently, the next thing that kids will no longer need to learn is spelling and grammar. Sugata Mitra, a professor of educational technology at Newcastle University in northeast England, announced that traditional language rules are out of fashion, reports the Daily Mail. Kids don’t need to waste time on those things, see. State-of-the-art computers and mobile phones can make
Common sense tells me that cops don´t need a Taser or a shotgun to subdue a 95-year-old man. When John Wrana was a young man, fit and strong and fighting in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps, did he ever think he´d end this way? Just a few weeks shy of his 96th birthday, in need of a walker to move about, cops coming through the door of his retirement home with a Taser and a shotgun.
Not only should President Obama cancel a bilateral summit with "schoolyard bully" Russian President Vladimir Putin, Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said Sunday on "Face the Nation," but considering the country granted asylum to National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden, U.S. allies should try to move next month´s G-20 gathering from St. Petersburg. "President Putin´s behaving like a schoolyard bully, and in my experience, I´ve learned, unless you stand up to that bully, they ask for more and more and more," Schumer said. "He´s always going out of his way, President Putin is, to seem to poke us in
I have a suggestion. How about an exhibit on Tawana Brawley? If the purpose of the new National Museum of African American History and Culture at the Smithsonian is to remember racial controversies, as the proposed Trayvon exhibit seems to confirm, then how about an honest look at the phenomenon of hate crime hoaxes? Particular attention should be paid to the role of the media in both the Trayvon and Tawana materials. Unquestionably, the media stirred up racial animus, and these incidents both contributed to raising racial tensions.
Today, across Africa, Araby and Asia, from Nouakchott to Dhaka, the diplomatic facilities of the United States are closed. There’s a Tsarnaev out there, somewhere – could be the Mahgreb, the Levant, the Horn of Africa, the Indian sub-continent – who knows? So, as Richard Fernandez writes, “Shelter in place, this time globally.” Maybe it will work. Maybe by the end of the day there will be, unlike Benghazi a year on, men in custody. But if not? Daniel Pipes: Don’t know about you, but I find this pre-emptive cringing unworthy of a great country, even humiliating.
