The attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi has become a political football in the presidential campaign, with all the grandstanding and misinformation that entails. But Fox News has raised some questions about the attack that deserve a clearer answer from the Obama administration. (Snip)But the anguish of Woods’s father is understandable: His son’s life might have been saved by a more aggressive response. The Obama administration needs to level with the country about why it made its decisions.
Comments: Maybe the ostriches in the major media are beginning to notice?
Obama lied and people died. David forgot to ask about the phony mob video story pushed for weeks afterward. The truth will probably come out after the election and heads will roll. This is a massive coverup and those involved should be dutifully punished. The Lamestream media have stooped even lower by ignoring this huge story.
These mediates continue to use Fox as their only resource in evaluating what happened in Benghazi. There's absolutely no journalistic curiousity from the rest of the media. They're more than happy to buy Obama's video story.
The left is also trying to create this image that this is a nothing story being ginned up by the right to attack Obama with. The emergence of the Seal's family has turned Obama's narrative on it's head and they're scrambling to figure out their next move to bury the story.

Ignatius makes the point late in the article that to bomb the area might inflame Muslim passions in the Middle East. Uh,...so? People who would sacrifice the lives of Americans on such a calculation cannot be in charge of keeping American personnel alive overseas. Do you hear the "battered housewife" talking?
These people cannot be in charge any longer. They are destroying the nation.
I heard a very angry retired military officer on Fox say that evidently someone had indicated to whoever did the laser 'painting' that help was coming or they would not have used the laser. There are way too many questions and I pray this doesn't get swept under the rug. And I pray that after the election some people are put in place in the House who will DO SOMETHING other than hold hearings. Is Boehner keeping Issa from doing his job? Just wondering.
Bombing might inflame Muslim passions? What DOESN'T inflame Muslim passions? And what did blaming the video do? It inflamed Muslim passions all over the Middle and Far East as well as Africa, Europe and even the minute island of Mauritius in the middle of the Indian Ocean. How many of our missions in those countries were burned, how many personnel endangered and how much classified information stolen? All to save zippy's sorry butt.
Leftist are outraged by a remark made by a pro-life candidate, but murders, riots and the burning of our embassies are a non-story. Michael Savage is right - liberalism is a mental disorder..
We need a bipartisan commission after the election to take care of this three-fold treason.
1) Before the terrorisim - arming of Al Queda 2) During the terrorism - Allowing our Ambassador to be murdered on American soil 3) After the terrorism - hiding the true reason for the murder on an obscure video.
Oh, I think they've been noticing all along, OP. It is just that they have been forced by real journalism from Fox, and the courage of Ty Woods's father, Charles Woods, to finally show that they are noticing.
This piece is a prime example of how the "drive-by media" uses just enough truth to make their audience believe lies, imo.
For instance: The Benghazi tragedy was amplified by Charles Woods, the father of slain CIA contractor Tyrone Woods. He told Fox’s Sean Hannity that White House officials who didn’t authorize military strikes to save the embattled CIA annex were “cowards” and “are guilty of murdering my son.”
And: Looking back, it may indeed have been wise not to bomb targets in Libya that night. Given the uproar in the Arab world, this might have been the equivalent of pouring gasoline on a burning fire. But the anguish of Woods’s father is understandable: His son’s life might have been saved by a more aggressive response. The Obama administration needs to level with the country about why it made its decisions.
Sometimes a lie is not what you say, it's what you don't say.
Looking back over this piece, if I didn't know better, I'd think Ty Woods was just a contractor who stuck his nose into a situation and caused more trouble for the U.S., his father is understandably anguished that his son is dead, but his son caused his own death, the Obama Administration needs to explain why all of this isn't their fault, and that the "mainstream media" may be about engage in some "fog of battle" to help them do that.
No mention by Ignatius that Ty Woods was more than a contractor. He was a former Navy SEAL who 'painted the target', insuring that those terrorists could be hit thus helping to quench that "fire" Ignatius mentioned.
I was pleased to see this as a Must Read, but was disappointed after reading the article -- all it does is offer up lame excuses to further convince Washington Post's leftist readers that all is fine and all of the questions have been taken care of...nothing to see here, etc. NOT a must read.
Using this morons logic, I guess the Cambridge cops did act "stupiditly" for responding to Gates' house that night before knowing more facts especially when it had the potential to enflame the Black community including the 0 in the White House.
Agree with #19. Ignatius raises a few questions. Big deal. It still comes out sounding like a ''fog of war'' situation. Those guys asked for help. Help was available. Somebody said ''No.'' Who said ''No'' and why?
And that business about getting muslims mad by taking action? Come on. Americans in danger, including an ambassador, you do whatever it takes to save them--unless, unless somebody with a clear head saw a situation developing that could have been a disaster for any on-the-ground rescue force. Absent that, the whole thing smells.
The last embassy to fall with killed or captured Americans was the Iran embassy. It too fell because a weak President allowed radicals to overthrow the government and seize our people. That batch is happily building nuclear weapons to destroy Israel and the US.
Now we have another weak president selling arms to rebels who want to start their own theocracy. They too thought this administration was weak enough to attack. For some reason this president didn't allow available resources to fight. The People are owed an explanation and some loud persistent questions from the Press.
Looking back, it may indeed have been wise not to bomb targets in Libya that night. Given the uproar in the Arab world, this might have been the equivalent of pouring gasoline on a burning fire.
Burning the American Consulate and the murder of four Americans is acceptable by the Obama Administration, because Obama was afraid to be a strong president. What would Obama do if all of our Middle East Embassies were being attacked and our ambassadors were being murdered? Probably stand down and apologize frantically to the Muslim attackers?

I may have an overly simplistic view, but, as I see it, when my country is being attacked, the last think I want our leadership to be concerned about is the emotional state of those attacking us. I wnt their focus to be on how to counter the immediate threat. I don't want them to lob a missle into a tent, killing some poor wayward camel, I want them to kill the people who are killing us.
The whole contractor thing is entirely stupid. That just means in what manner a given person is paid. In the military, there are contract gate guards, contract janitors, contract attorneys, and contract PhD scientists. These are just a few that I know are operating at our base. To call any of them just a contractor is devoid of almost any information. Totally different jobs and responsibilities and the people holding those positions have totally different educational and work backgrounds too.
This whole administration is corrupt. Add that to a media who has shown that they will do anything to make the boy king look good, and you have lies, omission of facts, and calculated indifference to the loss of American lives. What I feel for Obama absolutely pales in comparison to the utter contempt I have for the MSM in this country. The moral abyss we stare into now can be laid at their feet. Despite their boast of intellectual superiority, they are in actuality devoid of common sense and curiosity if it makes them question their tightly held beliefs.
Ignatius writes from the Left for IBD, and though he gets off to a promising start, he weasels out before that ink begins to dry. He equivocates on what might have been done and winds up saying we need better intelligence. Wasn't that the administration's and Hillary's whine? And Panetta's?
You may get a few points for even bringing it up, but after reading the article, if I didn't know better, I'd think it was all a "fog of war" and what are you gonna do??. Pulleeeze!
No mention of the liar in chief and the video story by our simpletons in the WH. And I find it strange that he had some comments I hadn't read before, like "Woods in the car waiting with engine running". I thought I had read everything and hadn't seen that actual comment. So, seems to me this proves, the MSM is talking to sources, and are still trying to cover it up until after the election.
Thanks to Fox, and to Mr Woods, and the internet or the liars would get away with it. Another thing, they keep confusing this attack to battles in war. This is different because the attack was on American soil, and one of our ambassador's was targeted and killed. Why can't they understand that very major difference???
The idea that they were restrained in their response in order to NOT inflame the Muslim crowd is ridiculous. What doesn't inflame the Muslim crowds? They are digging for a response, I mean, a lie to cover this. And, with all those shovels for the shovel ready jobs, they just might find a suitable one. However, I believe this, and Fast and Furious and all of it will never be untangled.
Lingering questions ? Lingering ? How about a ton of unanswered questions ?!! How is it that 7 weeks later , the Commander in Chief still remains in the dark as to exactly what happened that night in the Situation Room ? I don't care if the Consulate was on fire because someone was smoking in bed-when Americans are in need, you send help ! Obama keeps acting as if the decision to send help was predicated solely on the original cause of the explosions. We now have a PC ..excuse me.. MC ( Muslim Correct ) threshold that must be met before our soldiers are allowed to defend themselves in Afghanistan and the CINC decides whether to rescue dying Americans . The Obama death panel has been with us long before Obamacare. It's a national scandal that the media continues to ignore this terrible story , compounded by the fact that Obama acts like OJ Simpson -searching the golf courses for the real Commander in Chief. No doubt wearing black golf gloves..and BTW-they do fit.
Re: 2 previous posts. If it was one of their own.... Well, it has happened to two of their own, female reporters assaulted by mobs, and dead silence. As for more intelligence, yeah, they need more intelligence, the kind BETWEEN their ears.
By alerting the Libyan militia that our guys were coming, did the administration allow the Seals to be followed back to the annex? The Libyan guards had cut and run in Act 1, why invite them back for Act 2? Neither CIA nor Seals would have proposed that.
So bombing or attacking them in any way would "inflame" them? Just what planet or universe does this idiot or idiots live in? These people ALREADY hate us and are "inflamed" at us any time they see an American. They want to kill every one of us simply because we don't follow the teachings of "the prophet". Well, I don't follow him, never will, and if they attack ME you can bet the farm that I'm going to fight back with everything I can get my hands on. And I will not let ANYONE tell me to "stand down".
Ty Woods deserves the Medal Of Honor for his actions that night.
Inflamed, only if they were looking for excuses to be inflamed. They attacked us. It was a diplomatic target not a military one. We should have been the ones inflamed and we should have protected our people as they expected us to.
In Obama’s twisted, drugged-up world, “Stand Down!” means “Not My Problem!” + “Decision? Me? Make A Decision That Might Reflect Negatively On Me? No Way!” + “Winning This Election Is More Important Than The Lives Of Those Men!” + “Priority Number One Is To Run Out The Clock Beyond November 6th!”
FTA: "U.S. officials needed better intelligence. That’s the toughest problem to address, but the most important."
Total BS. Intel folks are NOT decision makers! When you put people out on the point, POTUS, you are obligated to do everything in your power to protect them. The United States has a strong, morally correct standard of "not leaving anyone behind," and that means you do what you have to to extract people in harm's way. This whole administration is so afraid it will do something to "offend" muslims that it is willing to let people on the point DIE. It is sickening beyond words. And depending on "locals" for embassy/consulate security? A policy doomed to failure, and what must be a non-reassuring position for those in the diplomatic community. We need to fire ZERO and his minions NOW (never thought Carter would look good).
The real reason Obie is covering this up with the MSM's help is that Stevens mission there was to meet with other islamist terrorist organizations to arrange to give Libya's weapons to them so the Islamist take overs of govt's in the region could continue. The lost lives was collateral damage to Obie, he doesn't care one wit about them, it's all about the Mooslime take over that Obie strongly supports. Get a clue folks, this man is worse than dangerous he is also very stupid!
That was an al Qaeda terrorist attack. If our bombing them inflames the Muslim passions then we're at war with those inflamed Muslims too. The simple fact is Obama wussed out hoping nobody would notice al Qaeda was still very active and his policies hadn't worked.
Nothing.going.to.be.done. By either party. The GOP will not touch this whether Mitt wins or not. The donks want it to go away and have successfully blocked it all. Just ask 10 of yr friends if they know waht happened in Benghazi. Not covered. My freineds wantto know why an impt story like this wouldn't be on Diane Sawyer. And if it is a fairy tale from the internet... I am beginning to think the overhead drone that gave video coverage was armed.... anyway where are allt he wounded. Brian suits on KFI640 interviewed and officer (ret) that asked that question...
There had been several terrorist attacks leading up to 9/11. The British Ambassador was almost killed... if i heard correctly on FOX last night, it was none other than Ty Woods who pulled the Ambassador to safety.
Ambassador Stephens and others had asked for more security; some resources were actually taken away...
pause and think about this
Now the attacks on 9/11, and BO et al needed more data?
IF military help had been sent, the mission would have had avery WAR-LIKE look.
BO has boasted everywhere he goes on the campaign trail: "I ended the war in Iraq; OBL is dead; al Qaeda is on the run..."
Therefore, sending military help to Stephens et al would have looked like war, with dead bodies and (newly) smashed buildings, smack dab on the eve of the election.
Amazing how this has become Obie's albatross. He really thought the msm could cover for him and run out the clock until November 6th.
On top of it, what does Obie do? He tries to cover it up and lie to the American people.
All he had to do was be straight up with us, sit at his desk on camera, look us in the eye, and admit he screwed up and is responsible for Stevens' and the Seals' deaths. But, nope, he decided his political behind and tendency to blame everyone but himself was more important.
Then there will be the typical whining and moaning by the left, the intelligencia, and the sheep after the election that there was a right-wing conspiracy. It's got to be a b#4ch being a liberal.
We haven't seen nor heard congress for about a year , but in fine print in the obit section , a few lines about how McCain and another are going to attempt to " get to the bottom " of what happened over there .
Time for rats to start jumping the ship, SS White House, sinking in the lies of Benghazi Lie yesterday: "It was the video that caused it", he lied to the world. Later replacement lie tomorrow: "It wasn't the video, we don't know, we're investigating and we'll wait for the results" (like AFTER the election, suckers). Lessons learned from compulsive liar Bill Clinton, upon hearing of best friend Vince Foster's prematurley labeled suicided death, said, "We'll never know what caused his death", sounding just like a prediction! The common thread, they both lied like criminals and they both had the total protection of the network media, Walter Cronkites then, Diane Sawyers today to totally overlook and FORGET the outrageios crime committed. Sick country when rich TV news people help in the commission of political crimes. Sick country no matter how ahard the valiant New Media counters the lies.
Have you noticed how many lawmakers from Texas were doing crazy things during the government shutdown debacle? We need to discuss this as a matter of simple justice. These days, when you say “Texas” in the context of heavy-breathing Republican extremism, everybody immediately thinks of Senator Ted Cruz. (Snip)Davis’s opponent will probably be the state’s attorney general, Greg Abbott, who has already amassed enough cash to buy Nebraska. Abbott once provided supporters with his vision of the attorney general’s duties: “I go into the office, I sue the federal government, and then I go home.” So there’s that.
LONDON — A violin believed to have played on the Titanic before the doomed vessel sank beneath the waves has sold for 900,000 pounds (some $1.45 million) at auction. An unidentified bidder on Saturday won the violin, whose metal fixtures appear corroded by seawater and is no longer playable. It is thought to have belonged to bandmaster Wallace Hartley, who was among the disaster’s more than 1,500 victims. Auctioneer Henry Aldridge and Son says the violin has been subject to numerous tests to check its authenticity since it was discovered in 2006. It said earlier this year that the violin was Hartley’s
What the…?(Snip for graphic) “Ovary sad…” To paraphrase Jerry Seinfeld, this tweet is offensive to comedians. The tweet conversation shows, once again, where radical Wendy Davis’ support is coming from — out of state — and how poor Davis’ allies’ judgement is. Joking about selling ovaries to donate the proceeds to a politician is just bizarre. Not at all in the mainstream of Texas politics. If a Republican tweeted any of that, does anyone doubt that it would be a story in the Dallas Morning News by now? Does anyone doubt that it would spawn a handful of stories over the next
We’ve spent plenty of time and column space here over the last couple years keeping you up to date on the the attempts of various corrupt Ecuador agencies and their Eco-warrior counterparts in the United States to sue Chevron over claimed damages in Ecuador’s oil fields. While such tactics have traditionally been successful against big corporations with deep pockets, choosing to simply pay off the pests rather than spending the time and money to fight them, not so with Chevron. The plaintiffs, led in large part by Manhattan lawyer Steven Donziger, tried to dig too deep, racking up a $19B
Balancing on some boulders along the Lamar River here on a recent afternoon, Dave Hallac clutched his fly-fishing rod and reeled in one of the outlaws. "This is the enemy here," the park´s chief scientist said after a close inspection of the trout, which had a silvery body with pale pink streaks and black speckles. "A full-blown rainbow." Rainbow trout have been swimming the waters of Yellowstone, the U.S.´s first-ever national park, for more than a hundred years since early park administrators introduced them to enhance the fish offerings. For decades, fishermen have reveled in catching the prized game fish. But Yellowstone officials
Not That Bad: A trio of dudes recorded themselves knocking over a rock in Utah´s Goblin Valley State Park. "We have now modified Goblin Valley," one of them proudly proclaims. A Bit Worse: The rock was part of a 20-million-year-old rock formation — one of the special "goblins" that give the park its name. Wow, Terrible: The dudes are all Boy Scout leaders. One of the men "said that at the time he thought he was doing a ´civic service´ by taking down a loose rock," according to the Salt Lake Tribune. "However, as he walked back to his car, he began
A couple years ago, I interviewed James Piereson about his book Camelot and the Cultural Revolution. He essentially argued that the intentional misinterpretation of John F. Kennedy’s assassination was to blame for the radicalization that took place in the 1960s. Now, Peter Savodnik is out with a new book titled: The Interloper. As the subtitle betrays, it’s about “Lee Harvey Oswald Inside the Soviet Union.” And it occurs to me that this might be shocking — that many Americans probably still have no idea that the man who assassinated Kennedy was also a Communist defector. During a recent discussion, I asked Savodnik
Over at Conservative Intel, David Freddoso has some vital numbers: Yesterday, The Washington Post suggested that at least 185,000 people have signed up for Obamacare:. That sounds promising for the program even if it’s still well short of the pace needed to meet the goals. And then Oregon has just reported 56,000 enrollments. So isn’t everything going just fine? In fact, no. When you see state enrollment numbers, you have to ask yourself this question: How many of those people are actually becoming Obamacare private insurance exchange customers, as opposed to people who (1) were always eligible but are just signing up
America is often painted as divided — be it by politics, economics, or word pronunciation. But according to a new study from researchers from the University of Cambridge, University of Texas at Austin, and the University of Helsinki, America may also be split up by three different psychological profiles. The paper, which was recently published the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, looked at 1.5 million responses gathered from five different online surveys and assessed respondents across five key personality traits: Openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism. They then clustered the traits together to see which areas have the highest — and lowest
For various reasons, the killing of innocent civilians in drone strikes has become a domestic American concern as well as a volatile international issue. The logic in both areas seems at the very least to lack consistency. The impetus given the subject by political motivations, such as in the case of sanguinary Pakistani and Afghan Taliban, tends to weaken the argument. Within the West there has always has been an antipathy toward innocent civilian deaths during war. Nevertheless, this has not kept warring Western nations from killing civilians indiscriminately and sometimes with intent to induce fear as a weapon in itself.
Thousands of furloughed federal workers who received unemployment checks during the 16-day shutdown will have to begin paying the government back. Roughly 50,000 employees filed for unemployment in and around Washington, D.C., while the government was closed. Nearly 34,000 workers filed claims within the shutdown’s first weekOver 16,000 government workers sought unemployment over the duration of the shutdown in the nation’s capital, according to Najla A. Haywood, public information officer for the District of Columbia’s Department of Employment Services (DOES). “DOES dispersed payment for 1,700 of these claims via debit card or direct deposit,” Haywood said. “Claimants are currently receiving notification from
Never mind nickel-and-diming. The city is now stooping to nickel-and-pennying. This week, The Post reported how the city’s taxi drivers are now being charged a new tax of 6 cents — i.e., a nickel and a penny — per ride. The hidden add-on is supposed to go toward programs that help cabbies figure out ObamaCare (good luck with that one) and for disability insurance “over and above” what medallion owners must already provide. Six cents a ride may not sound like much. But for drivers who handle more than 100 fares a week (many get more), it adds up to a new
WASHINGTON— President Barack Obama is not an overtly religious man. He and his family rarely attend church, and he almost never elaborates in public about his own relationship to his Christian faith. But away from the public eye, advisers say, the president has carefully nurtured a sense of spirituality that has served as a grounding mechanism during turbulent times, when the obstacles to governing a deeply divided nation seem nearly insurmountable. Every year on Aug. 4, the president´s birthday, Obama convenes a group of pastors by phone to receive their prayers for him for the year to come. During the
The Affordable Care Act´s botched rollout has stunned its media cheering section, and it even seems to have surprised the law´s architects. The problems run much deeper than even critics expected, and whatever federal officials, White House aides and outside contractors are doing to fix them isn´t working. But who knows? Omerta is the word of the day as the Obama Administration withholds information from the public. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is even refusing to testify before the House Energy and Commerce Committee in a hearing this coming Thursday. HHS claims she has scheduling conflicts, but we hope
An unnamed Obama administration official claimed that the White House feared GOP subpoenas would slow their work on the Obamacare website, leading to keeping its design in-house with "trusted campaign tech experts" that seemed to have spectacularly failed at creating a successful commerce website. In a Politico article lamenting the second week of failed performance of Healthcare.gov, the Obamacare insurance website, the unnamed official attempts to explain why the whole thing has been such a dismal failure: it´s the Republican´s fault. "Facing such intense opposition from congressional Republicans," Politico wrote, "the administration was in a bunker mentality as it built the enrollment
The debt deal simply hastens the day of reckoning The conventional wisdom is wrong. The mainstream media — and their parrots in the Republican establishment — are claiming that President Obama decisively won the government shutdown battle. In fact, the narrative being peddled is that the GOP brand has been badly damaged, paving the way for a possible Democratic Party takeover of the House of Representatives in the 2014 elections. This is puerile nonsense. Tea Party Republicans, led by Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, may have lost the battle, but they are poised for a major victory in the larger Obamacare war. Liberal
The Obama administration’s hostility toward media and efforts to crack down on whistleblowers and leakers has created “a tremendous chilling effect” on substantive reporting, the Committee to Protect Journalists and veteran reporters said Thursday. The CPJ issued last week a scathing report, written by former Washington Post executive editor Leonard Downie, Jr., on the effects of the Obama administration’s efforts to control press coverage, burnish its image, and thwart unauthorized leaks. Downie joined a panel at the New America Foundation that included Joel Simon, executive director of the CPJ, and Rajiv Chandrasekaran, senior correspondent and associate editor at the Washington Post, to
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said he might not be good at calculus, but he knows how to legislate. Reid told The Huffington Post that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is smart, but he can’t outmaneuver the 26-year veteran in the halls of Congress. “He might be able to work a calculus problem better than I can,” Reid said Thursday. “But he can´t legislate better than I can." Reid and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) are credited with brokering the deal that ended the government shutdown. Reid said the House’s decision to go along with a deal to end
Of all the bitter fruit of the Barack Obama disaster, the most bitter may be the sense of hopelessness that has descended on Americans, especially the young. Has there ever been anything like it in our history? Even on the eve of the Civil War, was there this much pessimism about our future? Gallup wasn’t around in those days, but I wonder. For a simple measure of how the Obama administration has crushed any sense of hopefulness in the American people, take a look at the survey that Rasmussen Reports does periodically on whether America’s best days are behind her,
Here’s a question for conservatives and Republicans: Going into the 2012 Election Day, or even in the last few days before Election Day, did you think Mitt Romney was going to win? A couple of months ago, did you think the strategy of threatening to shut down the government or prevent raising the debt ceiling, to force the outright repeal or defunding of Obamacare, would really work? Romney lost by 4,967,508 votes, 126 Electoral College votes, and 3.85 percentage points. That’s not very close. Obamacare isn’t going to be repealed this year, and it’s not going to be defunded. So the
In a statement delivered from the White House this morning, President Barack Obama said that now that Congress has enacted a continuing resolution to fund the government--that includes funding to implement Obamacare--he would like to negotiate with the House with the aim of enacting the immigration bill passed by the Senate earlier this year. The key provision in that Senate bill would allow illegal aliens currently in the United States to become legal residents here and get on a "path to citizenship." Critics of the "path to citizenship" call it an "amnesty" because it lets foreign nationals breaking U.S. law--including U.S. immigration
Hollywood action star and former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has been quietly lobbying key politicos for a legal loophole or a constitutional change that would clear the path for him to run for president in 2016. If allowed, Mr. Schwarzenegger would face off against Hillary Rodham Clinton, The New York Post reported. “Schwarzenegger has been talking openly about working on getting the constitutional rules changed so he can run for president in 2016,” a source said, The Post reported. “He is ready to file legal paperwork to challenge the rules.” The actor was born in Austria, making him ineligible to
As they wrap up their 13-month probe into the terrorist attacks in Benghazi that killed four Americans, congressional investigators have zeroed in on a press release issued the day before the murders by White House Press Secretary Jay Carney. They also are seeking fresh testimony from former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta. Staffers with the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations told Fox News they have reached the preliminary conclusion – as the Obama administration has long maintained – that no military rescue or remedy was feasible on the night of September 11, 2012, when U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens
"Forward the Light Brigade! Charge for the guns!" he said. Into the Valley of Death, Rode the 600. –Alfred, Lord Tennyson. On an October morning in the Crimea, 1854, British Lord Cardigan led his 600-strong cavalry force into a frontal assault of a fully dug-in and alerted Russian artillery battery. The charge was courageous. And it was suicidal. The Light Brigade was ripped apart in the Valley of Death. Commenting on the bravery and utter futility of the attack, French Marshal Pierre Bosquet declared: "C´est magnifique, mais ce n´est pas la guerre. C´est de la folie." ("It is magnificent, but it is
