Libya:
Crushing Obama’s Hopes
of a Comeback?

PowerLine, by John Hinderaker

Original Article

Mitt Romney has opened up a clear lead over Barack Obama in their presidential race. That owes a great deal to the candidates’ debate performances, of course. But something else is going on, too. In recent days, Obama’s approval rating has taken a perceptible hit. Via the Weekly Standard, we see that in the Rasmussen survey, only 47% approve of Obama’s job performance, while 52% disapprove. There are two plausible explanations for Obama’s current slide: voters may be disgusted by the mean, petty campaigning he is running, or they may disapprove of his handling of the Benghazi crisis. Or both.

Comments:
Obama has plunged in the polls.
The voters are starting to ask real questions about our soldiers and Ambassador being betrayed and abandoned in Benghazi. And they don't like the lies and spin they are getting for an answer.
Now we are starting to see how ugly the betrayal was.
The two former SEALs, Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty, saved dozens of lives, fought heroically for 7 hours, but were denied the support from planes in the area and were killed.
The orders must have come from Obama or Jarrett.

My husband and I were watching Pat Caddell and Ann Coulter being interviewed about Benghazi on Fox a few moments ago and I thought Caddell was going to start crying there right on tv. He was so upset he was almost shaking... They showed two days' worth of NY Times front pages with not a word about what happened...

Cynical, but I hope Romney skunks o, and that Mitt brings with him all the down GOP ticket candidates, so that he will have a strong hand to clear out the vipers infesting our government.

Tyrone Woods father was also on Fox's Justice Janine with his other three children. This man will not rest until his question is answered. Who was watching his son being slaughtered and who decided that he along with 3 other Americans were not worth saving. The story is growing too large to be ignored much longer. As hard as it may be for the Lamestreams, they will have to start reporting on it and the floodgates will burst.

Judith Miller and Kirsten Powers have also been really upset over the lies and lack of coverage from the LSM. I think even Beckel is but won't admit it. The rest are too much in the tank for Obomination to admit they are wrong. With all of Colin Powell's connections, you'd think he would know the truth of Benghazi which sure makes one question his endorsement this week.

If Libya were to bring down Obama, it would be poetic justice. That was a completely lawless, wanton act of war with no justification beyond Obama's whim. And he did it because he wanted to play the Tough Guy on the world stage, and what's worse, he thought it would be EASY. It was all amateur hour dilettantes playing war from the safety of the White House, figuring it would be a pushover and the photo ops were in the bag. No genuine military man would EVER be that careless and confident about any military action, because as we have seen, a million unexpected consequences can and will happen in war. Now Obama's astonished to find his little showpiece war is coming back to bite him on the butt, long after he's lost interest in it. Serve him right.

I Have no direct knowledge, but my surmise is this.

Ambassador Stevens was to be kidnapped when the embassy was stormed. Then, Obama could stage a raid just at the end of October (that was going to be his October surprise) and ride a wave of patriotism to another 4 years of vacations from the White House.

Unfortunately for him, and most tragically for them, two former Marines picked up weapons and ran to battle (btw, I'm not, now, nor have ever been a Marine, but there is no such thing as a formr Marine (once a Marine, always a Marine, and they will gladly tell you that) and the Obama's little October surprise blew up in his face.

Obviously, Obama doesn't know much about battle plans. You need the planning but the plan itself never survives first contact with the enemy.

#6, I noticed that as well. Kirstin strikes me as now experiencing some harsh cognitive dissonance as she tries to reconcile her Dem party instincts with the ongoing dismaying news breaking on the administration's handling of their deadly mess in Libya. And working for FoxNews, she is right at the center of that breaking news and they appear to be now pulling out all the stops to investigate this story and do so pronto, before Nov 6 me thinks.

And FoxNews IS obviously just like the WaPo newsroom was on Watergate story, the center of that universe. They've got several reporters, in full WoodwardBerstein mode now. They even have the tenacious Judge Jeanine fully engaged on Benghazi. All they need is a DeepThroat to break it wide open. Big careers are being made here. I was especially moved by FoxNews reporter Catherine Herridge's remark to Huckabee this evening about how she feels very strongly that they owe it to our four slain men of Benghazi. She's obviously on a mission.
And CBSNews is to a lesser extent on the case on this one, all others in the corrupt news media are in Full Spike and Dismiss mode.
Bottom line, in spite of the corrupt news media spiking, I think this story is getting out, at least at the public impression level, and dragging him down.

The Benghazi debacle has three parts: how we neglected security while al-Qaeda was building a presence in Libya; whether the administration tried to mislead the public as to the nature of the attack; and now whether the administration denied pleas for help from operatives on the ground at the consulate. Now, presumably at the behest of Gen. David Petraeus — who has been remarkably tight-lipped and not defended his agency against White House accusations that senior officials’ misstatements were the fault of the CIA — the CIA threw the hot potato right back in the politicians’ laps.

Reports indicate two drones and an AC-130 gunship were in the area when Benghazi was attacked, yet their resources were not used. This runs completely against the current explanation coming out of the White House, which is that Obama did everything he could once he learned of the attack. You'll remember that in the second presidential debate, Obama said that as "soon as I was aware the Benghazi consulate was being overrun, I was on the phone with my national security team." The not-so-subtle intimation is that Obama was stepping up to the protect the U.S. personnel who were in Libya.

According to Fox News, the three requests for help made during the seven-hour attack on our consulate in Benghazi were met with orders from U.S. officials to "stand down." Wisely, Obama dodged this question entirely. I say "wisely" because,

A recent Gallup poll showed seniors have become even more Republican over the last two decades; in 2013, 48 percent considered themselves Republican.
