Obama as father figure

| As we careen towards the finish line in this tumultuous electoral season, President Obama is asking voters to renew his contract as a father figure. And with his new, 11th-hour message that this election is all about “trust,” I think the father-thing is going to resonate. Without going all Carl Jung on you, presidential campaigns are often about archetypes. John McCain as warrior. Paul Ryan as super-hero. Joe Biden as the loyal friend. In 2008, with the whole “hope and change” narrative – not to mention his youthful good looks and energy –

Comments: This piece is one of the most pathetic and embarassing diatribes I have ever read. For someone to feel the need to look upon a government figure, let alone one as duplicitous, dishonest and supercilious as 0bama and show distain for a truly moral figure like Romney is a shocking example of how deluded and dumbed down certain segments of the electorate have become. America can survive an 0bama, but she can not survive an electorate comprised of mental basket cases like of Ms. Lloyd.

A man who doesn't even know his own father as the new Father of the country-- which country? Certainly not America!

The idea of Obama as any kind of father figure died with our heroes in Benghazi. Fathers do not betray and then lie about it.

Father figure? Boyish good looks? Delia Lloyd has to stop smoking those funny cigarettes.
Obama and Biden both have potty mouths. I wouldn't want either of them around children.

When I first started reading this article, I thought it was a spoof -- and it may be that it really is a spoof, but too subtle for me to get. Assuming it is serious, though, I have to wonder where on earth the writer got her image of a father figure. A petulant, thin-skinned, self-absorbed person so insecure that he pins blame on everyone and everything but himself? I know fathers like that, but I would never consider them father figures. I would consider them object lessons on the kind of father you don't want to be. Romney on the other hand...? Great role model. Even Ward Cleaver could have learned some things from his example.

Poor soppy Delia.
Obie does appear to be inappropriately besotted with his elder daughter, but that's about the extent of it.
How Delia can see Mitt Romney with his huge family and not believe he is a father figure is beyond me. He just doesn't pretend to be the father of the entire country who will take care of everyone no matter what. He is the good father who urges everyone to become their very best self.

One other thought: Is this embarrassing attempt to cast him as "father figure" a weak effort to save him from the embarrassing, sexually suggestive video implying that the youth of America think of voting for the first time as the opportunity to have him take their virginity???
It would be difficult to take these people seriously, if they weren't such a danger.

This woman holds a PhD in political science.
Like the sophomoric worldview and politics of others with advanced degrees and long experience in academia, her stunning cluelessness and naivete raise disturbing questions about the value, indeed the safety of such learning.
More proof, at least to people like me, that the real sickness of the West begins in its universities. Until there is something akin to a cleansing of these Augean stables, the problems of which Barack Obama is merely the incarnation will persist. Left to themselves, they will probably get worse. A nation whose educational system has been transformed into a vast manufacturing plant for the mass production of fools is on the road to serfdom. People like the writer who want a father figure as president have lost the capacity for self-governance. Perhaps they do not wish to have such a responsibility.

This is typical of the Democrats. They take something from the Republicans and turn it around. They see the world in reverse image.
After the debates people have noted that it seemed like "the good father vs the abandoned son". The "good father" being Mitt Romney, of course. So now we get this "father figure" nonsense.
They call Sarah Palin a "grifter", clearly not knowing what the word means, because Republicans pointed out the Clintons grifting tendencies. They started saying the GOP was a cult (nonsensically if you look at how contentious the party is within its ranks) after people started pointing out the Democrats mind-numbed cult-member behavior.
There are many more. I don't know if it's an Alinsky thing or just more immaturity from the knucklehead party, but it's uncanny. They do it every single time the Republicans strike a nerve.

This article begs the question of why functioning adults need a father figure. (The pony-tailed guy who wanted Clinton to think of us as his children was clearly a case of arrested development.) The infantilization of the U.S. proceeds apace.
Deep down, Delia Lloyd probably understands that what she's saying is utter nonsense. But it's probably more important to her to establish her creds as a non-racist.

1} He used his daughters as the example of the need for government-funded late-term abortions and immediate destruction of immature infants who survived the abortion. 2} He used Malika as his prime example of the need of black parents to scold their children to make them do well. He said Malika's grades fell off so he told her she was bringing down the black folk just rising up from slavery who didn't have good opportunities. This held the girl up to the world as a a contemptible creature. (The story does not ring true. My father was a great mand and a wonderful Dad. By the time he was 20-years old, his parents were dead and he raised his younger brother and 7 younger sisters. He married late, and when my mother died (39 years ago this week) he was left alone to do it again with the seven of us, the youngest of his children were still in grade school. I loved my Dad, he's been gone since I was 21, I miss him bitterly to this day. And Obama is NO father figure to me or to anyone I know. What an insult to even imply such a thing. What an outrage.

Delia Lloyd is so stupid and ignorant that she thinks the American people are looking for a father figure in a man that is a failure as a human being. He's never touched anything that he didn't make worse.
Obama likely cares deeply for his daughters, may even have some regard for Michelle. But the only person he wants to please is Valerie Jarrett. Jarrett is his mother figure, and he knows not how to relate to other men.
The disgusting thing is that people like the writer and some of the people I know genuinely believe Obama cares about them personally. What a delusion.
Surprise! He wants your vote and does not care about anything else related to you - except his desire to control you.

The U.S. has been denied direct access to the only publicly known suspect in custody in connection with the Benghazi terror attack, Fox News has learned, with U.S. interrogators still unable to sit in the same room as the Egypt-held prisoner to ask questions. Abu Ahmed, also known as Mohammed Jamal, is suspected of establishing Islamist training camps in Eastern Libya where militants who took part in the Sept. 11 Benghazi terrorist attack were able to train. Ahmed is not suspected of directly taking part in the attack which left four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens, dead.

For the past five months, the Republican message on foreign policy message has been defined by a single word: Benghazi. Ever since the deadly September 11 attack on the U.S. compound in that Libyan city, Republicans have obsessed over the episode. Mitt Romney made Benghazi a favorite talking point in the 2012 campaign home stretch. More recently, Republicans have invoked Benghazi to shoot down one would-be cabinet nominee, Susan Rice, and delay two others, Chuck Hagel and John Brennan. They have dragged a parade of administration officials, including Hillary Clinton

TIMBUKTU, Mali - One of the last things the bearded fighters did before leaving this city was to drive to the market where traders lay their carpets out in the sand. The al-Qaida extremists bypassed the brightly-colored, high-end synthetic floor coverings and stopped their pickup truck in front of a man selling more modest mats woven from desert grass, priced at $1.40 apiece. There they bought two bales of 25 mats each, and asked him to bundle them on top of the car, along with a stack of sticks.

A Planned Parenthood spokeswoman confirmed Wednesday that the agency plans to close two more of its 21 Iowa clinics. President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. But I´ve long felt we lack a solid theoretical underpinning for easily discussing these issues, and why precisely it is that

Michelle Obama has admitted that she is already tired of the bangs she first sported in January. The First Lady said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight: ´Bangs are a day-by-day proposition. They´re starting to grow out, get a little irritating.´ Still, she hasn´t let her hairdo woes get her down. ´It´s okay,´ she said after her initial complaint. ´We´ll be good.´ The first indication that her hairstyle was becoming a burden came about last weekend, when Malia, 14, was spotted adjusting her mother´s hair during the White House Easter Egg Roll.

To hear some tell it, her decision will be dispositive for all other Democrats thinking of entering the race. And pundits and reporters aren´t the only ones positing the "The Hillary Factor": No less than the House Democratic whip, Steny Hoyer, told BuzzFeed, “I don´t know that anybody would run against Hillary…. If she runs, she clears the field.” It´s an understandable conclusion, given Clinton´s stature in the Democratic Party and her 70 percent

Clinton praised her own mother for helping empower her to success and marveled at the opportunities that her own daughter Chelsea has pursued. But Clinton warned that there is still so much to do to promote women´s rights in America. "As I look at all these young women that I am privileged to work with, or know through Chelsea, and its hard to imagine turning the clock on them," Clinton said.

The Obama White House is scrambling to blame Friday’s abysmal March jobs numbers on the sequester’s trimming of the rate of growth in federal budgets that have yet to fully commence. After the Labor Department announced that a mass exodus of 663,000 workers left the U.S. workforce last month and that job creation fell 112,000 jobs short of projections, Obama’s top economic adviser Alan B. Krueger, took to the White House blog to blame the sequester: It is important to bear in mind that the March household and payroll surveys are the first monthly surveys to look

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank

On Friday, Sean Hannity brought Pat Smith, mother of the late Sean Smith, on his radio program. The 34-year-old information management officer was one of four Americans murdered in the Benghazi embassy attack on September 11, 2012. In the chilling interview, a distraught Ms. Smith, in tears, pleaded for answers and spoke of the efforts to silence her. Ms. Smith first relayed how her son, prior to the attack, requested additional security in advance and warned the State Department: He did tell them, ahead of time, he typed it into his little typewriter over there,
