Biden: Republicans voted
for a $500 trillion tax
cut for 120,000 families

Washington Examiner, by Joel Gehrke

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 10/26/2012 2:12:10 PM

Vice President Joe Biden told a Wisconsin crowd that Republicans voted to give a $500 trillion tax cut to the wealthiest Americans. “They voted to extend tax cuts for the very wealthy, giving $500 trillion tax cut to 120,000 families,” Biden said today, emphasizing every syllable of “$500 trillion.” Biden was apparently referring to the Republican effort to extend the Bush tax cuts for all income levels.

I realize that this so called 500 trillion dollar figure is over ten years, but I still can't see what sense, if any, this claim makes. Is Biden telling us that 120,000 of the wealthiest familes are paying enough money in taxes, over ten years, that Romney can promise them 500 trillion dollars in CUTS? What sum must they be paying without any cuts?

Will someone who understands please explain it to me?

so these 120,000 families are paying so much taxes that their taxes can be cut $500 trillion. presumably they will still pay some taxes. so according to biden taxes can be cut that amount to over 3 the national debt, or over $5 billion per family. why would there even be a national debt?

Re: #18. First, the original bogus claim by DemocRATS was that Romney's economic plan to reduce tax rates across the board and eliminate deductions for the more affluent amounted to a 5 trillion dollar tax cut "for the rich" over 10 years. There was never any specific proposal by Team Romney.

This was just another strawman set up by the most corrupt administration ever to incite more class warfare at the expense of the truth (a concept they understand not).

Whenever tax cuts are proposed, there is much wailing and knashing of teeth as the familiar refrain is heard "but how will we (gov't) pay for it? They continue in their belief that all money belongs to gov't so actually letting individuals keep more of their money somehow presents a hardship to them and their plans to spend it. They first look to raise revenue (taxes) in some other area to "offset" these "cuts" instead of streamling and eliminating non-essential programs.

Only be returning to a Zero-Based budgeting system, i.e. all agencies start with Zero dollars and have to present reasons for additional funding, will we ever get this behemoth that is Fedzilla under control.

On Saturday, President Obama handed over the camera and teleprompter to the mother of a victim of Sandy Hook Elementary shooter Adam Lanza. Explaining his exploitative choice via email to his entire WhiteHouse.gov email list, Obama explained: Each week, like many presidents before me, I sit down to record a short address to the nation. It´s something I take very seriously because it offers a chance to bring focus to an issue that needs to be part of the national dialogue. But today, I´ve asked someone to take my place.

"Comprehensive immigration reform" is shaping up to be the next Obamacare. By negotiating in secret, by drafting an enormously complicated bill, and by rushing passage with almost no time for public debate, the Senators who are pushing immigration reform are following the same path that divided the nation in 2009-10 and led to one of the worst expansions of federal regulation, spending and power in American history. Though they may have the best of intentions as regards the underlying result, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and his colleagues in the

Why is that? Margaret Thatcher’s death has been the latest occasion for the Left to show its true stripes. All across the U.K., there have been demonstrations–vulgar at best, and violent at worst. In Bristol, lefties celebrating a Thatcher “death street party” started fires, destroyed property and battled police: This evening in Trafalgar Square, liberals have turned out for a long-planned celebration of Thatcher’s death:

With President Obama, there’s always a catch. In the 2014 budget he announced last week, Obama proposed a more accurate way of calculating the inflation rate for annual cost-of-living increases in Social Security. It’s a technical change in pursuit of honesty and good government. And if adopted, it would cause benefits to grow more slowly, though almost imperceptibly so. Republican leaders in Congress ought to be delighted since they had “championed”—Obama’s word—the idea in the first place. Then came the catch. The president’s price for adopting this gentle reform was hundreds of billions in new tax increases.
