Romney didn't load up on Staples stock, devastating Allred's case

| Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney not only thought Bain Capital-backed Staples stock was a risky investment, he never exercised all of his options to buy it, according to new testimony that is devastating to Obama backer and celebrity attorney Gloria Allred's bid to use a 1987 divorce and subsequent appeals to torpedo Romney's campaign. A source familiar with the case provided Secrets with testimony from the appeals case in which Romney revealed that he didn't buy all the Staples stock he could because he didn't see it as a sure thing.

If Romney knowingly had lied about the stock value, he would have stocked up and made a mint. As it is, he put his money where his mouth was, somewhere else. An exploding cigar looks just as good with a red dress as it does with a blue suit.

Of course, this pre-supposes that Mitt's share information is what she was after. My guess is that there was already an "narrative" made up and they were looking to paper hang information from the court onto the narrative.
We'll see.

Allred's last foray into electioneering was to get Brown elected for a third term of failure here in CA. I don't think the housekeeper she exploited for that has benefited, I was surprised she had a taker this time around. I doubt she will ever run out of fools, or there would be no one to vote democrat.

One example: he furnished the V>A> hospitals in Mass with their milk supplies for a number of years, using his personal funds, and did so anonymously. Sounds like a real scoundrel!!

Nowhere in the Constitution is it written that among the qualifications one must have to hold office is to be a good father, a good husband and a faithful adherent to marital vows. This has been fortunate as, had it been otherwise, we would have missed out on a number of indispensable people and perhaps lost a number of wars. In theory, virtue is one seamless web, but practice says otherwise. So from time immemorial, men such as Alexander Hamilton and David Petraeus, who would have died many times over before betraying their country, didn´t flinch at betraying their wives.

In a speech to Howard University Wednesday morning, Paul reached out to blacks, arguing that the Democrats and President Obama has failed African Americans, but admitting that the GOP has a long way to go before blacks see Republicans as their guide to success. President Obama´s two-month-late federal budget proposal is drawing substantial criticism from Republicans in Congress and elsewhere, but Chris Edwards, the Cato Institute´s budget-numbers master, offers a timely reminder - President George W. Bush was a bigger spender. Edwards points to the fact that the average annual spending increase under Bush was 7 percent, compared to 4 percent under Obama, then makes the essential point: "Partisan Republicans are probably tired of fiscal conservatives and libertarians complaining about Bush´s big spending, especially when Obama has done so much damage to limited government. But Republicans are fooling themselves if they think

President Obama on Wednesday unveiled his $3.77 trillion budget for next fiscal year, calling for higher taxes in exchange for cost reductions in Social Security and Medicare, setting the stage for another fight with Congress over the nation’s fiscal priorities. Obama’s proposal would raise taxes on cigarettes by 94 cents per pack, up to $1.95. From the Rose Garden on Wednesday, the president said such taxes were nonnegotiable

The head of the nation´s largest gun lobbying group said Tuesday that the organization plans to sue Maryland to prevent Gov. Martin O´Malley´s sweeping new restrictions on so-called assault weapons from taking effect. The General Assembly passed the ban last week and is waiting for O´Malley to sign it, but National Rifle Association President David Keene said the NRA is already preparing for a court fight. In addition to an assault weapon ban, Maryland lawmakers voted to require gun buyers to be fingerprinted and to undergo gun-handling training and to limit the size of ammunition magazines.

Washington — President Barack Obama is sending Congress a $3.8 trillion spending blueprint that seeks to achieve an elusive "grand bargain" to tame runaway deficits by raising taxes further on the wealthy and trimming popular benefit programs such as Social Security. The president´s proposal being unveiled Wednesday includes an additional $1.8 trillion in deficit reduction over the next decade, bringing total deficit savings to $4.3 trillion, based on the administration´s calculations. It projects that the deficit for the 2014 budget year, which begins Oct. 1, would fall to $744 billion.

Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

Even with the threat of furloughs and government cuts sparked by the sequester, Obama took the time to enjoy a star-studded concert at the White House tonight. The White House celebration of Memphis Soul music in the East Room--which included special guest appearances by Queen Latifah and Justin Timberlake--is likely to rile Obama´s Republican foes. In the message he issued along with his budget proposal on Wednesday morning, President Barack Obama said he wants to see 4-year-old children in the United States enrolled in public schools. Obama said America needs to start enrolling 4-year-olds to make sure the children are “better prepared for the demands of the global economy” and to help parents save on "child-care costs." After saying the United States needs to “equip our citizens with the skills and training” to fill jobs in manufacturing, energy and infrastructure, Obama said, “And that has to start at the earliest possible age.”

Obama’s ambitious plans to ban assault weapons and limit magazine capacities are off the table, while the NRA suggested it could support the most likely outcome -- expanded background checks -- as recently as 1999. The NRA claims that the president’s efforts have triggered a fundraising surge and boosted its membership from 4 million to nearly 5 million.

"The politics has been relentless and that continues," Sebelius said. "There was some hope that once the Supreme Court ruled in July, and then once an election occurred there would be a sense that, ´This is the law of the land, let´s get on board, let´s make this work.´"
