| Can we stop pretending that Barack Obama’s candidacy is some grass-roots uprising? Obama’s campaign has outspent Romney’s campaign. The Democratic National Committee has outspent the Republican National Committee. While Romney’s SuperPAC (Restore our Future), has outspent Obama’s SuperPAC (Priorities USA), that $40 million Romney SuperPAC edge doesn’t come close to making up for the Obama campaign’s $180 million edge. There is legally undisclosed spending going on here, and there’s reason to believe Romney benefits from more of it than Obama, but that’s not conclusive, and we don’t know how big Romney’s edge is in that category.
|
Comments: I will never understand this. The Democrats hate Wal-Mart do everything they can to stop them from opening stores all over this country. It's just unbelievable that you would contribute to those who hate you and American businesses.

Sam Walton has been dead for years. Walmart wouldn't be the way it is if the original Sam Walton were still alive. This Sam Walton must be a grandson. Sam had three daughters, who apparently cannot ever have too much money since they threw Sam's principles out the door in favor of huge profits.
Unfortunately I live in a small town where Walmart is the only game. I hate that place and dread going shopping there. I miss the original Sam Walton.

Hey, if dead people can VOTE for Obama, they surely must be allowed to CONTRIBUTE money to him. No biggie. Much of Obama's campaign contributions must have the stench of rotting flesh. Like Wal-mart on not, it's what the free market is all about. Suggest you fact-check this faux-article before you head for your local mom and pop.

Original Sam died in 1992. Per a quick look at a Wiki family tree he had 3 sons and a daughter. You have to presume one of the grandsons is named Sam. DO NOT assume that the article is made up of whole cloth - it's not a stretch to believe the third generation of Waltons comprises some liberal minds.
Don't know if they also contributed to Republicans, but it certainly makes ''corporate'' sense. Wal-Mart is one of - if not THE - biggest employers in the country and probably China's biggest retail customer...

Read the article folks. "Supposedly" according to the article, they have given a whopping $40K to an Obama SuperPAC. However, if you look around you will see that Walmart family and heirs have given $100K's to republican groups.
Most large businesses pay both parties to just leave them alone...

Personally, I'd rather have a tooth pulled than walk into a Wal-Mart, but due to location & cost considerations, I find myself there more often than I'd wish.
If you check out the rest of Mr. Walton's political giving, the vast majority goes to Republican candidates. One anti-Walton site even "accuses" him of directing 73% of his total political spending towards Republicans or Republican causes. (What a pig! s\o)
The article is unclear at best; misleading at worst. Samuel Robson Walton, chairman of the board, (known as Rob, not Sam) leans way further R than D. Whatever his reason for contributing to Obama's PAC (after doing a little research on my own) this article doesn't convince me to give up my occasional forays into Wally World.

Muddying the waters...
From Wiki: Samuel Robson "Rob" Walton (October 28, 1944)[5][1][2] is the eldest son of Helen Walton and Sam Walton, founder of Wal-Mart. [snip] He was named chairman of the board of directors of Wal-Mart on April 7, 1992, two days after his father's death, and still maintains that title.
From http://walmart1percent.org/family-tree/rob-walton/
Since the 2006 federal election cycle began, Rob Walton has given $135,500 in federal political contributions. Of that total, $12,600 went to Wal-Mart Stores or Arvest Bank Group; of the remaining $122,900, 73% went to Republicans. The only Democrat or Democrat-affiliated group he has given to other than former Arkansas Senator Blanche Lincoln is Barack Obama ($2,300 in October 2008) and the DNC ($28,500 in October 2008).

#38 it is silly for you to quit shopping at Walmart because its chairman has given a few thousand dollars to Obama's PAC. The man is worth over $20 billion and has consistently given to R candidates.
For those who don't think Walmart should purchase Chinese made goods, go shop somewhere that doesn't sell Chinese goods or those made in that part of the world. It's not going to be at Target or Costco.

Hunters should look to the skies, but not for canvasback ducks or fair weather. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals will soon acquire “impressive new weapons to combat those who gun down deer and doves.” The animal-rights group plans to invest in airborne drones armed with video cameras, aiming to collect damning video footage of “any illegal activity, including drinking while in the possession of a firearm,” or evidence of maiming animals or use of spotlights and feed lures. Sen. Marco Rubio’s plan for a 10- to 13-year path to citizenship for illegal immigrants is “consistent” with President Obama’s principles, White House press secretary Jay Carney said Monday. Mr. Carney’s comment suggested the president would sign off on the plan, but he cautioned that the White House would withhold support for any legislation until seeing the final language. Mr. Carney did say that the details of Mr. Rubio’s plan as reported so far are “consistent with the president’s position.” Mr. Rubio said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union with Candy Crowley” that an immigration reform plan

The Senate’s Gang of Eight on Tuesday released the details of a broad agreement to overhaul the nation’s immigration laws. The legislation would give provisional legal status to an estimated 11 million illegal immigrants and put them on a pathway to citizenship but only after a list of criteria for securing the U.S.-Mexico border are achieved. It sets goals of persistent surveillance in high-risk areas along the Southern border — sectors where more than 30,000 individuals are apprehended trying to enter the country illegally per year — and a 90-percent effectiveness rate for apprehensions in high-risk sectors.

Although no group has claimed responsibility for Monday’s deadly bomb blasts at the Boston Marathon, a leading al-Qaeda ideologue last year recommended that jihadists in America include sporting events in their list of prospective terror targets. Writing in the online magazine of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), Inspire, the terrorist known as Abu Musab al-Suri listed what he called “the most important enemy targets.” Al-Suri contended that civilians should be targeted “when responding to a brutal practice carried out by America and her allied forces.” “This is done by targeting human

Since he first became a presidential candidate, President Obama must have spent millions of dollars in legal expenses to combat dozens of so-called "birther" challenges seeking the original documents pertaining to his birth. As president, he famously issued an electronic document on the White House website in 2011; the document purported to be his long-form birth certificate, though it is apparently a forgery. In addition, he has taken great pains to hide the paper trail of passport records, college transcripts, and other data -- all of which a prospective employer might require of a job applicant.

In light of the explosions that have rocked Boston on Patriots’ Day, during the city’s annual marathon, NBC reporter Luke Russert took to Twitter to speculate that today’s horrific events could possibly be related to the 1993 government siege on the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas — an incident often attached to conversations about “right-wing terrorism” and anti-government violence. “I was at Fenway Park w my dad and @mikebarnicle during Waco which was on Patriots Day in 1993. Speculating on possible link,” Russert tweeted following the explosions.

The trial of Philadelphia doctor Kermit Gosnell would seem to have all the elements of a spectacular news story: shocking allegations, horrifying visuals, sympathetic victims.
