Russell Crowe: 'Obama is
the light & the future'

The Hill (Washington D.C.), by Alicia M. Cohn

Original Article

Posted By:Scottyboy, 10/22/2012 9:20:50 AM

President Obama received a surprise endorsement from another Hollywood star over the weekend. In a tweet on Sunday, Russell Crowe appeared to make the unusual argument that a vote for Obama meant "going towards the light." Russell Crowe ✔@russellcrowe Villagers,I don't endorse politicians. Not my thing. However, Obama is the light & the future.Keep going towards the light. Put America first.

Is he friggin' serious? That's the same thing Dr. Kevorkian used to say nto his "patients".

Does sound sort of 'transitional' OP. Resuscitated folks claiming that they were walking toward a light. However, this nation is not about to give up and die.

Be easy on RC, he just announced a divorce - and we all know how crazy he gets when he is not anchored to the earth by a good woman.

Good grief. Another actor whose work I have thoroughly enjoyed to this point is now making his casual sacrelige part of his public persona.

I loved his performance in "A Beautiful Mind". Sadly, that character's behavior and speech showed less severe delusion than his real-life musings on politics.

"Gladiator" and "Master and Commander" are also terrific flicks... by one who turns out now to be a terrible flake. Nice work alienating half your audience, Doctor Nash.

Sad, really, when Hollywood "stars" and "entertainers" step out of character, or from behind the microphone, keyboard, camera, or stage, break the illusions that have profited them so greatly, and reveal themselves to be ill-educated, political lemmings, and utter, deluded fools. Fools who have, by the way, just alienated and infuriated half of their potential audience that up til now had contributed to making them rich.

Another high school dropout with delusions of intelligence! Consider this recent Crowe twitter: Since 15 November 2011 Crowe supports the first globally networked protest movement OWS – Occupy Wall Street movement via Twitter, asking his 310,000 followers to listen to Keith Olbermann Reading Occupy Wall Street Declaration[96] and stating on 15 November 2011 via his Twitter account
The OWS statement is a very important moment; like witnessing The Declaration of Humanity.[97] "OWS statement" , Countdown with Keith Olbermann TV broadcast, 14 November 2011

#58, Mr. Crowe is certainly entitled to his opinion, as are you and I. The problem is that movie stars, thanks to the folks who attend their movies, have a bigger platform from which to spout their idiocy, and a lot of easily influenced listeners (who are not found in this salon). I do not intend to assist in increasing the size of that platform.

Hunter Walker, Business Insider’s politics editor, published the announcement on Monday, after teasing the news on Twitter by announcing that “something wonderful is about to happen.” The folks at Business Insider are clearly aware of the built-in entertainment value of hiring the scandalized politician, who is best known for sending an explicit photo of himself to an online mistress on Twitter -- and initially denying the photo was his. (The trouble didn’t

While I applaud Lean In’s recent launch of their Ban Bossy campaign – some like it, some don’t – I encourage them to do more.(snip)And if we’re “banning” words with this sort of double standard, then the word “articulate” comes to mind. “Articulate” doesn’t have the same negative connotations as “bossy.” But we’re all familiar with the scenario in which someone comments in surprise at how “professional” or “well-spoken” a new black co-worker comes across, or how “articulate” an African-American presidential candidate might be – as then-Sen. Joe Biden once remarked about then-Sen. Barack Obama, an episode chronicled at

Early NASA diapers forced astronauts to

When NASA astronauts were suiting up to go to space in the 1960s, they had to make a big decision before they explored the world above us: How large of a man are you? Getting it wrong could damage the mission. According to a former NASA life support system expert who helped construct space diapers, otherwise known as Maximum Absorbency Garment systems, each astronaut in the Gemini and Apollo programs had to wear a condom-type sheath with a hole at the end for urination inside their suits. In an interview on the Science Channel´s Moon Machines documentary series about early space travel, engineer

A new species of praying mantis, Liturgusa algorei, indigenous to the thick rain forests of Peru has been named after former vice president Al Gore; one of 19 new species of the insect recently identified by entomologist Gavin Svenson. The discoveries came after Svenson, curator of invertebrate zoology at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, decided to search through both old collections at museums and embark on field expeditions into the forests of Central and South America. Unlike the patient, zen-like praying mantis we´re all familiar with, these equatorial cousins take a decidedly different approach to both hunting and self-preservation. "This group,

Obama being a typical Kenyan

President Obama, like most Kenyan politicians, loves beating about the bush and avoiding the real issue. In Kenya, we all know the big problem is corruption, but we are addressing virtually everything else but corruption. And so in America, our cousin President Obama dances around serious issues like the typical Kenyan he is. When Russia invaded Georgia in 2008, Obama thundered with indignation and a fulsome, righteous — and justified — anger. The people of Georgia thought he would follow through on his fiery words with real action to set their country free of Russia’s torment, but wapi! With Cousin Barry, as with

Imagine if a former Republican presidential candidate and U.S. senator had called a current Republican president a delusional liar whose programs are wasteful. Would the mainstream media not be all over the story? Such a person would be interviewed at length by Wolf Blitzer on CNN as well as made the rounds of the morning talk shows and the Sunday news programs as well. The media buzz would be red hot on this topic for days extending into weeks. Well, there is such a person but because he is a Democrat saying these things about President Obama, we can expect

Many of the Republican Party’s most powerful insiders and financiers have begun a behind-the-scenes campaign to draft former Florida governor Jeb Bush into the 2016 presidential race, courting him and his intimates and starting talks on fundraising strategy. Concerned that the George Washington Bridge traffic scandal has damaged New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s political standing and alarmed by the steady rise of Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.), prominent donors, conservative leaders and longtime operatives say they consider Bush the GOP’s brightest hope to win back the White House.

A "vast majority" of Mitt Romney donors, establishment pooh-bahs, and an anti-conservative consultant who is the epitome of permanent political class want former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush to run for president in 2016. Bush was in Las Vegas this week meeting with Sheldon Adelson, and, according to the Post, "many if not most of 2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romney’s major donors are reaching out to Bush and his confidants with phone calls, e-mails and invitations to meet." One bundler even said that a "vast majority” of "Romney’s top 100 donors would back Bush." The Post also noted that in the meantime "Bush’s

I have no objections to Jeb Bush running for president. He obviously has a wide appeal as a potential candidate. (Snip) His support of Common Core, however, will also find many who are in the conservative ranks objecting, since they fear that Common Core represents educational centralism and having the government ram federal standards down their throats. What I do object to is that Bush is already being heralded as the obvious candidate, the man to whom the big money must and will flow. As the Washington Post reports: Many of the Republican Party’s most powerful insiders and financiers have begun a

If Betsey McCaughey is correct (and I bet she is, because she has not only read the entire ObamaCare bill, she has written a book about it), Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan publicly humiliated herself during the oral arguments on the Hobby Lobby case, revealing that she either did not read the law, or failed to comprehend it if she did so. Writing in the New York Sun, McCaughey lays out what is wrong with the Justice’s declaration about Obamacare: she asserted that the statute itself mandates provision of birth control. Not one word in the Affordable Care Act guarantees health plans will cover birth control products.

Ronan Farrow’s MSNBC talk show is facing cancellation amid poor ratings, sources exclusively tell Confidenti@l.Farrow, 28 — the opinionated, blue-eyed son of actress Mia Farrow and either Woody Allen or Frank Sinatra (even Farrow’s not sure which) — has been a disaster for MSNBC. Former U.S. Senator Bob Kerrey thinks President Barack Obama, a fellow Democrat, was re-elected in 2012 because he ´sucked less´ than former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. The Nebraskan straight-talker told MailOnline in an exclusive interview that Obama isn´t up to the job of bringing liberals and conservatives to the table to rescue America´s slowly choking entitlement programs. And Obama, he said Wednesday in his Manhattan office, knew full well he was lying when he promised that the Affordable Care Act would allow Americans to keep insurance plans they liked. ´He had to know he was misleading the audience,´ Kerrey said

YOKOHAMA, Japan — Climate change is already having sweeping effects on every continent and throughout the world’s oceans, scientists reported Monday, and they warned that the problem is likely to grow substantially worse unless greenhouse emissions are brought under control. The report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a United Nations group that periodically summarizes climate science, concluded that ice caps are melting, sea ice in the Arctic is collapsing, water supplies are coming under stress, heat waves and heavy rains are intensifying, coral reefs are dying, and fish and many other creatures are migrating toward the poles or

A National Labor Relations Board official has given the green light to Northwestern University football players to form a union. The March 26 decision by the NLRB´s Chicago regional director, Peter Sung Ohr, held that scholarship football players are "employees" for purposes of federal labor law. Ohr rejected the longstanding view of Northwestern and the National Collegiate Athletic Association that players are "student-athletes" rather than employees. While Ohr´s decision is hardly the final word on this issue, it does accelerate the legal and political battle against the NCAA and its century-old amateurism rules. Is Football Academic? Washington — The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Monday finalized long-delayed rules that will require automakers to install back-up cameras in all vehicles by May 2018. The new rules set rear visibility standards that automakers will initially be able to meet only by installing cameras. At the same time, major automakers said Monday they are petitioning the Obama administration to let them end the use of side view mirrors if they install cameras that could perform the same task — a move that could improve fuel efficiency. President Obama’s Department of Homeland Security caught then released 68,000 aliens who had previously been convicted of a crime, a new report from the Center for Immigration Studies shows. The report, provided to Breitbart News ahead of its late Sunday evening release, reviews internal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) metrics to conclude that the Obama administration released 35 percent—or 68,000—convicted criminal aliens back into the U.S. general population when they could have been deported.
