Leftists cannot relate to their domestic political opponents but invariably think they are going to make friends with foreigners whose interests are not those of America. They should try their faith in talking, negotiation, mutual good will and compromise at home, with fellow Americans, before they seek to win friends and influence leaders abroad. Foreigners, of course, lead Leftists on by telling them whatever they think they want to hear and causing them to believe that an important breakthrough is always about to happen. Domestic political opponents, on the other hand, tell them the blunt truth about their differences and disagreements, which enrages Leftists and makes them hate them more than any foreign adversary.

ALL of 0bama's policies have been a massive failure. He has printed 11 Trillion Dollars out of thin air. He has put so many regulations on small businesses that have destroyed thousands of jobs. Most of his favored Green companies have gone bankrupt and taken the taxpayer's money. Failure, Dismal Failure.

THE Korean Peninsula is closer to military conflict than at any time since 1994. Beyond his wild rhetoric threatening nuclear war, the North Korean dictator, Kim Jong-un, has taken two of the most extreme actions open to him. He has decided to re-start his five megawatt nuclear reactor at Yongbyon. And he has banned South Koreans from entering the joint industrial zone in Kaesong which is responsible for much of the hard currency Pyongyang gets.Meanwhile, he is provoking tough reactions in Washington and Seoul. US Secretary of State John Kerry declared the US will not accept a nuclear-armed North Korea.

More than 1,000 Muslims from across Europe are currently active as Islamic jihadists, or holy warriors, in Syria, which has replaced Afghanistan, Pakistan and Somalia as the main destination for militant Islamists seeking to obtain immediate combat experience with little or no official scrutiny. As the number of European jihadists in Syria grows, European officials are beginning to express concerns about the threat these "enemies within" will pose when they return to Europe. In Britain, for example, Foreign Secretary William Hague recently said, "Syria is now the number one destination

The famed Prussian strategist Carl von Clausewitz observed that war is the continuation of politics by other means. He could just as easily have referred to arms sales. The global arms trade is brisk. For the sellers, it´s a means to curry favor with strategic partners and to fatten the bottom lines of domestic arms merchants. For the buyers, it provides access to top-shelf technology that´s unobtainable through domestic production. These are the countries leading the pack.

As a connoisseur of revolutionary processes, Leon Trotsky asserted that a revolution seems impossible until it becomes inevitable. As a matter of fact, this is what happened in Venezuela in 1998, when Hugo Chávez assumed power after winning a presidential election.Until then, Venezuela was living in what could be called a "soft democracy." People used to go periodically to the ballots, choosing largely between the two leading, traditional parties.

While President Obama came to office promising to restore the world´s image of America, the polling firm Gallup has found a steady decline in the world´s view of American leadership. Today, America´s median approval stands at 41 percent, down from 49 percent during President Obama´s first year in office. Nonetheless, global views on U.S. leadership have rebounded since 2008, and several countries in particular have expressed strong approval for U.S. leadership, according to Gallup. These are the five most pro-American countries.

On Jan. 29, I wrote a piece that described North Korea´s strategy as a combination of ferocious, weak and crazy. In the weeks since then, three events have exemplified each facet of that strategy. Pyongyang showed its ferocity Feb. 12, when it detonated a nuclear device underground. The country's only significant ally, China, voted against Pyongyang in the U.N. Security Council on March 7, demonstrating North Korea's weakness.

Does China Want to Take Over the Indian Ocean?

The New York Times recently reported that China apparently has agreed to take over the operations of a $200 million port it built for Pakistan in Gwadar, on the Indian Ocean close to the Iranian border and close to the entrance to the Persian Gulf. We´ll see if this actually happens. If it does, it will be geopolitically significant. To a greater degree than other Indian Ocean ports that China has either built, helped finance or upgraded, Gwadar is plagued by considerable security problems, as I found out during a visit there in 2008. It is in a remote region of Pakistan affected by Baloch separatism. And Baloch leaders I interviewed specifically threatened the building of a Chinese pipeline from Gwadar. Former President George H.W. Bush is aged and ailing. So it is precisely now that we need to voice our appreciation for him -- one of America´s greatest one-term presidents, along with James K. Polk. Polk practically doubled the size of the continental United States between 1845 and 1849, becoming the individual embodiment of Manifest Destiny.

With Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez unable to attend the inauguration ceremony marking his sixth term of office, attention quickly shifted to whether the relevant constitutional clause granting presidential powers to the president of the National Assembly -- in this case Diosdado Cabello -- would be honored within 90 days. In a fanciful interpretation of the constitution, however, the Supreme Court decided otherwise. It granted Mr. Chavez the right to an indefinite absence and charged Vice President Nicolas Maduro with the task of governing Venezuela on Mr. Chavez´s behalf.

Governance in the United States is at a standoff. The crisis over the federal budget has led many people around the world to wonder if Americans haven´t lost their minds. Ultimately, as Winston Churchill infamously observed, they may be counted on to do the right thing after exhausting all other options. But this hardly is sound policy with every new vote in Congress. Maybe the latest crisis is symptomatic of a deeper and even more serious problem. The future of the United States - and the American experiment - seems bleak. The optimism for which Americans are known comes less readily.

The murder trial of abortionist Kermit Gosnell largely is being ignored by the mainstream media, even in the face of grisly testimony, such as what we heard yesterday. Life News reports: ...a former employee described how she heard a baby scream during a live-birth abortion. Abortion clinic employee Sherry West described an incident which "really freaked (her) out" and related to the jury how she heard a child who was born alive following an abortion scream.

HARTFORD, Conn. -- With time running out on the chance to pass gun control legislation, President Barack Obama on Monday warned Congress not to use delaying tactics against tighter regulations and told families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims that he´s "determined as ever" to honor their children with tougher laws. Obama´s gun control proposals have run into resistance on Capitol Hill, leaving their fate in doubt. Efforts by Senate Democrats to reach compromise with Republicans over expanding required federal background checks have yet to yield an agreement, and conservatives were promising to try

North Korea’s young leader Kim Jong-un is waiting for United States President Barack Obama to make a phone call to Pyongyang to discuss easing tensions on the Korean peninsula, according to Russia’s news agency Itar-Tass. The report cited United Kingdom diplomats, saying Pyongyang was demanding the U.S. president personally call Kim Jong-un as one of the conditions to relieve the current conflict at hand. Itar-Tass also quoted the U.K.’s Sky News as saying North Korea currently has eight nuclear warheads.

Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

Chelsea Clinton has raised her profile in the last few days, which sparked the inevitable question about the former first daughter´s future: Will she ever be like Mom and Dad and run for office? Clinton, 33, essentially said "maybe" in an interview that aired Monday on NBC´s Today show. "Right now I´m grateful to live in a city, a state and a country where I strongly support my mayor, my governor, my president and my senators and my representative," said Clinton, whose father, Bill, was president from 1993-2001 and her mother, Hillary

The letter from the group, “Special Operations Speaks,” supports the appointment of a special committee tasked with the single mission of investigating the attack that left Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans dead, and shut down the CIA operation in an annex of the Benghazi consulate, in the Sept. 11, 2012 attack. “Congress must show some leadership and provide answers to the public

There was growing buzz over the weekend that a bipartisan agreement on gun control — a deal that would expand background checks — could hit the floor as early as this week. However, any deal could be derailed by the looming threat of a Republican filibuster involving Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. With Cruz standing proudly in the way of any gun legislation, Democrats are trying to make him pay a political price — and even a couple of high-profile Republicans are questioning his tactics.

The case of a same-sex Connecticut couple accused of repeatedly raping and abusing two of their nine adopted boys is headed for trial. Married couple George Harasz and Douglas Wirth of Glastonbury were supposed to be sentenced Friday in Hartford Superior Court under a plea deal, but instead withdrew from their agreement with prosecutors. The men had already pleaded no contest in January to one felony count each of risk of injury to a minor — a reduction from even more serious charges related to sexual assault....
